In a beautiful location like La Grande Maison it is not really such a great effort to have a good time. For our recent Easter visit the weather was kind, everything was in flower and of course the house and garden were as beautiful ever. However a challenge presented itself for me in that I was quite unwell while there....

This is a real jewel of a place to stay in Loire. Totally gorgeous, amazing decor., it's own cave, and the loveliest and most wine knowledgable hosts. Sue and Michaela are not only lovely people who make you feel incredibly welcome, they are fabulous chefs, know their wine and nothing is too much trouble. A wonderful place to stay and...

Just returned from a perfect visit to La Grande Maison and I can't recommend a stay here more highly. The location amidst the vines is tranquil and serene and the care shown to us by the hosts, Micaela and Sue was superb. We had stayed in the house before on return driving trips from Spain but had always promised ourselves...

This is a fantastic, relaxing place to spend time. Hosts Sue and Micaela are friendly and a font of wine knowledge and local information, as well as producing excellent breakfasts. Tasty dinners complete with local wines are a joy to eat. It is also possible to book a local vineyards tour with Sue. This was our third visit and we...

We spent three wonderful nights at La Grande Maison enjoying the kind hospitality of Micaela and Sue. The wine matching supper on Monday evening was fabulous and the breakfasts were a treat. I really appreciated the effort Sue went to to accommodate my gluten intolerance, including baking divine fresh bread rolls for breakfast. Our room was comfortable and attractive and...

My husband and I recently stayed at La Grande Maison d'Arthenay. From the moment we were met at Angers by Micaela I felt as if I was with friends. The house and out buildings were charming. Our accommodation in the main house was very spacious and beautifully decorated creating a rustic atmosphere. During dinner, which was well prepared by Sue,...

We had a perfect 3 night stay, what a beautiful home Michaela and Sue have created, we stayed in the Vine Room in the garden, just breathtaking. The weather heated up, so the fan we borrowed from the ladies was much appreciated. We opted for the wine tasting supper, which we enjoyed outside our room in the shade of the...
