We spent three days in this lodge and were absolutely amazed. Not only the spot is unique, Liz and her staff are wonderful. Long walks on the almost empty beach, even took a bath in the ocean. Every morning a pre-breakfast swim in the swimming pool. Wonderful food being served. One of the best places we've ever been.

There are places you stay you will never forget.. this is one of them ! We had such an Amazing stay in this Eco Lodge. Amazing scenery from the bungalows on the beach. Very romantic place. Wonderful beach with no 4x4 tracks ! Only your footprint an a few fishermen walking by. You feel like it is your beach! The beach is clean in front of the Lodge compare to the other lodges nearby. Great service and amazing food ! Nice pool ! The owners really took care at us as we were friends. They had a real positive energy. Everything was perfect. Environmental issues are taken very seriously, no wasted food as it is used to feed pigs and we were happy to see our first 200% plastic free lodge in Mozambique. Yes no plastic straws in the cocktail! -: Nothing What can be improved: More indication to get there on the road Doors for the toilets in the rooms for more romantism ;-)

We had a very good moment at this place, the owners were not present at this time. Thanks to Beth, her friend and the whole team, we spend very nice and relaxed holidays. Food was very good, rooms were very clean and breakfast was always ready on time. The beach in front of the bungalows is just amazing. Keep going!

With much trepidation, I finally convinced myself to book the Fitness & Yoga Retreat as a kickstart into the new year. I contemplated cancelling it a few times, I mean really, who signs up for such a hectic start to the year?? Armed with my snorkelling gear (I have never snorkelled), my yoga and gym clothes, and my sugar-free sweets, I set off into the unknown. I was greeted with a warm offshore breeze, brown smiley faces and our hosts, Liz and Lisa. Fresh coconut water was served with bowls of cashew nuts. Yes, I can do this. The rest of the week I can only describe in superlatives, so bear with me. Accommodation: 10/10 - Spotless, comfortable, shower with amazing sea-view. Hammock and swinging rope chair for lazy afternoon siestas. Coffee brought to the villa every morning. Food : 10/10 - Everyone's dietary needs were taken into consideration: gluten free, sugar free, fat free... no problem. In fact, nothing was too much effort at all for these amazing people. There were platters of fresh fruit every morning, yogurt, honey, nuts, muesli, freshly brewed coffee, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, toast, special coconut gluten free, sugar free, divine squares. Fresh juice, special little shots of ginger and turmeric... THIS IS JUST BREAKFAST! Lunches consisted of either fresh fish, sushi or chicken, with huge platters of a variety of salads. Mid afternoon snacks (yes eating again) - crudites and hummus and tzaziki dips, fresh fruit... Paradise is real. Dinners... Every evening a 3-course meal was served; from crab salad for starters, fresh line fish or lobster / crayfish / prawns for mains ... All served with fresh organic vegetables and salads; and the desserts were so sublime... chocolate mousse, chocolate brownies with coconut ice-cream, chia and yogurt pudding... AND WE ALL LOST WEIGHT. These girls have the winning combination. Fitness: We were up at 5.00 / 5.30 for our early morning workout which got our blood pumping. I really thought it would be a few little leg lifts or arm raises and toe touches! Our workouts were challenging, especially the beach suicide workouts. Yoga in the early evenings was a lovely way to unwind and end the day. Water activities: we were taken on a 3- hour ocean safari where the brave swam with whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins and turtles. We went kayaking through the mangroves, we learnt how to surf, a dhow trip to one of the Pansy Islands for a picnic was one of the highlights. And let me not forget to mention the fantastic Drumming Circle arranged for us spoilt brats around a bonfire on the beach for our last evening, where our two hosts surprised us with their fire dancing skills. It wasn't all sugar-free, gluten-free and fat- free, I indulged in Rum & Raspberry - it's all about balance. Will I go back? Yes. And I am for the next retreat now in March (3rd - 10th). I honestly feel that everyone should do one of these retreats at least once; and there is no better place than right here on our doorstep in the beautiful, sultry Mozambique. AND - I have to stress..... NOTHING was too much effort for Liz and Lisa and their amazing crew. We went there as strangers, and I can honestly say we all bonded and will be friends forever. Such is the magic of Blue Footprints Eco Lodge.

A stunning, private, peaceful place tucked into the green frosted, wind swept dunes of a completely pristine white sand Mozambique beach! Our hostess, Liz, is welcoming in every way, caring and well educated. We'd come back for a longer than 3day stay next time ! Thank You Liz 💙

Spectacular location in the dunes above the beach! You can relax at the lodge and do all the activities offered at Tofo (f.e. Ocean Safari to see Whale Sharks, Mantas etc.) or Barra (f.e. Chill Out Bar or Swimming). The rooms are great and you can see the ocean from every corner of the rooms. Even from the shower :-) ... Excellent food and brillant service by Liz and her team!!! Not to forget the dogs who are part of the feel-good-concept!

We came for a few days on a tail end of our safari and gorilla trekking, to relax and possibly see whale sharks. This is an amazing spot, located right on the beach in a totally secluded location away from town noise and crowds. Whales swim by, and surf sounds are spectacular. Beautiful beach that stretches for miles....and NO PEOPLE. We got in the water with whale sharks and humpback whales...so mission accomplished. Liz and staff bent over backwards to provide exceptional service from drinks, meals, transfers, etc, etc. Amazing breakfasts and dinners, with spectacular views. If you are looking for a spot away from crowds, this is IT.

I visited Blue Footprints as a solo traveler in February, which is off-season in Mozambique. The lodge was quiet (but it's small and removed from the hubbub of Tofo and Barra anyway, so it's likely always pretty quiet), but it was exactly what I was looking for, having come specifically for the solitude. The staff was incredibly accommodating, seemingly knowing exactly when to leave me to my solitude and when to interject and offer something. One of the owners was on-site and extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Rooms were perfect - open, beachy, amazing views. Breakfast and dinner are included, and the food was always excellent. I particularly loved having breakfast on the balcony, which jutted out over the dunes and had spectacular ocean views (and breezes, a vital benefit in the humidity). The main lodge area has a small pool area and deck, a small swim-up bar (with seating inside as well), plenty of seating inside and out, and a small library. Perched over the massive dunes, the accommodations are individual bungalows that each feature a half-covered, half-exposed deck with a semi-private outdoor shower (though guests in the main lodge and other rooms can't see you, anyone walking along the beach could theoretically see you showering there, so be aware if you decide to strip it all off) and gorgeous unobstructed views of the sea. The balcony also comes with a hanging rope chair and a hammock, so you can spend the day lazing about with a book, gently rocking to the sound of the ocean next to you. And because some of the balcony is covered, you can do this even when it's raining. It's bliss. The only drawbacks are the dunes themselves (it's a long way down from the lodge/rooms to the sea, and trudging back up the dunes after a day spent wandering the beach can be exhausting) and the distance to both Tofo and Barra if you want to explore and get food elsewhere. You can request a ride to either; however, it isn't cheap. Then again, not much in Mozambique is particularly cheap. The walks to either place are lovely, though. The beach is wide (even at high tide) and the exposed rock pools at low tide are perfect for exploring as you make your way in either direction. Overall, the most relaxing vacation I've ever taken.
