We spent three days in this lodge and were absolutely amazed. Not only the spot is unique, Liz and her staff are wonderful. Long walks on the almost empty beach, even took a bath in the ocean. Every morning a pre-breakfast swim in the swimming pool. Wonderful food being served. One of the best places we've ever been.
There are places you stay you will never forget.. this is one of them ! We had such an Amazing stay in this Eco Lodge. Amazing scenery from the bungalows on the beach. Very romantic place. Wonderful beach with no 4x4 tracks ! Only your footprint an a few fishermen walking by. You feel like it is your beach! The beach is clean in front of the Lodge compare to the other lodges nearby. Great service and amazing food ! Nice pool ! The owners really took care at us as we were friends. They had a real positive energy. Everything was perfect. Environmental issues are taken very seriously, no wasted food as it is used to feed pigs and we were happy to see our first 200% plastic free lodge in Mozambique. Yes no plastic straws in the cocktail! -: Nothing What can be improved: More indication to get there on the road Doors for the toilets in the rooms for more romantism ;-)…
We had a very good moment at this place, the owners were not present at this time. Thanks to Beth, her friend and the whole team, we spend very nice and relaxed holidays. Food was very good, rooms were very clean and breakfast was always ready on time. The beach in front of the bungalows is just amazing. Keep going!
With much trepidation, I finally convinced myself to book the Fitness & Yoga Retreat as a kickstart into the new year. I contemplated cancelling it a few times, I mean really, who signs up for such a hectic start to the year?? Armed with my snorkelling gear (I have never snorkelled), my yoga and gym clothes, and my sugar-free sweets, I set off into the unknown. I was greeted with a warm offshore breeze, brown smiley faces and our hosts, Liz and Lisa. Fresh coconut water was served with bowls of cashew nuts. Yes, I can do this. The rest of the week I can only describe in superlatives, so bear with me. Accommodation: 10/10 - Spotless, comfortable, shower with amazing sea-view. Hammock and swinging rope chair for lazy afternoon siestas. Coffee brought to the villa every morning. Food : 10/10 - Everyone's dietary needs were taken into consideration: gluten free, sugar free, fat free... no problem. In fact, nothing was too much effort at all for these amazing people. There were platters of fresh fruit every morning, yogurt, honey, nuts, muesli, freshly brewed coffee, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, toast, special coconut gluten free, sugar free, divine squares. Fresh juice, special little shots of ginger and turmeric... THIS IS JUST BREAKFAST! Lunches consisted of either fresh fish, sushi or chicken, with huge platters of a variety of salads. Mid afternoon snacks (yes eating again) - crudites and hummus and tzaziki dips, fresh fruit... Paradise is real. Dinners... Every evening a 3-course meal was served; from crab salad for starters, fresh line fish or lobster / crayfish / prawns for mains ... All served with fresh organic vegetables and salads; and the desserts were so sublime... chocolate mousse, chocolate brownies with coconut ice-cream, chia and yogurt pudding... AND WE ALL LOST WEIGHT. These girls have the winning combination. Fitness: We were up at 5.00 / 5.30 for our early morning workout which got our blood pumping. I really thought it would be a few little leg lifts or arm raises and toe touches! Our workouts were challenging, especially the beach suicide workouts. Yoga in the early evenings was a lovely way to unwind and end the day. Water activities: we were taken on a 3- hour ocean safari where the brave swam with whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins and turtles. We went kayaking through the mangroves, we learnt how to surf, a dhow trip to one of the Pansy Islands for a picnic was one of the highlights. And let me not forget to mention the fantastic Drumming Circle arranged for us spoilt brats around a bonfire on the beach for our last evening, where our two hosts surprised us with their fire dancing skills. It wasn't all sugar-free, gluten-free and fat- free, I indulged in Rum & Raspberry - it's all about balance. Will I go back? Yes. And I am for the next retreat now in March (3rd - 10th). I honestly feel that everyone should do one of these retreats at least once; and there is no better place than right here on our doorstep in the beautiful, sultry Mozambique. AND - I have to stress..... NOTHING was too much effort for Liz and Lisa and their amazing crew. We went there as strangers, and I can honestly say we all bonded and will be friends forever. Such is the magic of Blue Footprints Eco Lodge. …
