Cinnamon Bey Beruwala has garnered mixed feedback, with its beachfront location and lively atmosphere receiving praise for creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. Guests rave about the hotel's cleanliness and extensive amenities, which include multiple dining options and pristine pools.
The rooms are appreciated for their space and views, but some guests feel they could benefit from updating. While the service is generally celebrated for being attentive and warm, a sentiment echoed by many is that the hotel's value proposition could be improved, as some services are perceived as overpriced.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a two week holiday ready for some rest and relaxation.
The hotel is well appointed, rooms are large, aircon, hairdryers, irons and ironing board, mini bar, safe, toiletries and complementary bottle of water each day.
The hotel has a few pools but it depends when your are staying for what access you have
We stayed half board so only accessed these main facilities.
The main pool (pictured) was nice, never over crowded and we got loungers and parasol every day. It’s also right by the beach so if you want to wonder across for a paddle the very easy to do.
The hotel provides towels for the pool but you can’t take these on the beach but they’re are showers by the gates so you can wash the sand off before coming back in.
The food in the main restaurant is excellent - wide range of choice, specials every day and a good selection to meet all different needs both for breakfast and dinner.
You can purchase food and drink for around the pool during the day though limited choice for food by the pool, the Lava shrimps were fantastic.
Staff were friendly, attentive and overall a great experience.
The hotel is 5 star...my only flag to this is yes it’s 5 star for the types of facilities, therefore 5 star for its offers and amenities, however there are a few bits around the hotel that are a little tired (some of the pool loungers and associates mattresses, towels by the pool). This wasn’t an issue for us and having stayed in 7 hotels in Sri Lanka, this was bar far one of the best appointed. So just ensure your expectations are in line with the offers of the country you are staying in.
The other thing to note is nearly all other hotels had umbrellas in their rooms for guest to use but here you need to sign one out from reception. We had one big downpour whilst staying so if it’s looking that way my advise would be to grab one in advance (huge golf style umbrellas).
The local town is a tuk tuk away (easy and fun to do) but there are are number of great restaurants/bars on the beach and some of the best rated in area are just a 2 mins walk away for lunch, dinner for just sunset drinks.
The location is also good for anyone looking for Ayurvedic treatment and we used Bentota Ayurvedic Center for a very relaxing massage would will pick you up and drop you back for free.
Overall we would recommend.

+1
The hotel facilities were excellent and the rooms were spacious and luxury. We stayed in the Deluxe ocean wing and the rooms were great.Their safety measures were excellent and there was no need of been afraid of the corona pandemic. The buffet was served by the workers and Mr.Niroshan De sliva was very helpful and must award a special thanks to him. Actually the workers were wearing masks and they were sanitizing the rooms and even the dining areas. So actually there is no need of being afraid and we can come and relax and release the stress out due to the quarantine.

This was our seventh visit to Cinnamon Bey Hotel and from the moment we arrived we were recognised as return guests. We were offered a cool drink and a refreshing face towel before checking in.
The checking in process was swift and we were shown to our room, the room we had requested from previous visits
The room was immaculate and stocked with clean towels, tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water.
The pool boys in the garden welcomed us and sorted beds for us which we were able to keep for our five week stay.
We arrived especially to celebrate New Year's Eve and we were not disappointed. The hotel was catering for 400 guests and everything ran smoothly. Tables were set up around the pool area and a stage was constructed for the excellent band. The celebrations started at 7pm with canapes, Food was served from the Bufe restaurant. The variety of food available was outstanding. The dessert section, under the direction of Chef Fernando, deserves a special mention. The band played until well after midnight and the New Year was welcomed with fireworks. Many of the staff came to celebrate with the guests.
As on previous visits all staff were polite, friendly and welcoming with a smile from the General Manager down.
We ate mainly in the Bufe restaurant where there is always a changing selection of food to suit all tastes. But, we did also eat in Tandoor, the Indian restaurant where Chef Xhan seasoned food to our taste. We revisited the Rock Salt restaurant, an Asian Fusion restaurant where we cooked our raw fish on hot stones. We also visited Fire restaurant which concentrates mainly on grilled food. The head chef Chaminda is hands on, highly visible and willing to consider any requests.
We treated ourselves to a cookery demonstration with Chef Balasooriya. We chose our menu and then enjoyed the fruits of our labours.
It is difficult to mention all the staff that made our holiday special but the pool boys deserve credit for always being on hand to supply fresh towels.
The barman in the "pop up"pool bar brought our refreshments at pre arranged times twice a day. The Animation team arranged various activities in the pool and the garden.
The hotel is committed to continuous improvement, and it shows.
This hotel is in a prime position, on the beach with just a short walk along the sand to two or three friendly restaurants. The sea is safe, protected by a coral reef. The gardens of the hotel are spacious and immaculate. The whole hotel area is kept spotless.
The hotel is about 4 kilometres from Aluthgama town. A visit to the Kandavihara Temple is a must, especially on Poya day, also a visit to the fruit and vegetable market on any day is interesting, especially on a Monday.
We will definitely return next year and hopefully in years to come..

We arrived just after 6am in the morning and our first impression was the warm welcome by the friendly night staff. They made us feel at home and provided us with a tray of tea. When the shift changed and Buddhika came on he pulled out all the stops to get us into our room early (check in normally 2pm) and ours was ready by 10am which we really appreciated.
When we reached our room we were just glad to have a lie down but later, on close inspection, we realised that our room was in need of renovation and was looking very tatty. I can say now that as we left they were renovating each room as they became available on our floor.
The gardens and pool area were beautiful and the wildlife was lovely too. There were always gardeners out and about keeping the place immaculate and the guys looking after the pool and sun loungers were the best, in particular Hemantha who always had a lovely smile for us and even reserved our lounger for us every day. The last few days I was treated to a vase of fresh flowers by my sunbed, it was heaven. The pool is large and kept very clean.
The food was a little disappointing although there was a wide choice of food every day most of it was very spicy and when you are unfortunate enough to have a delicate stomach your choice was very limited. My one gripe was all the chicken dishes were full of bones, I don't think they butcher their meat the same as we do.
The evenings were quiet, they did provide entertainment but most of the time you couldn't hear the singers as they were drowned out by their own music and the lighting is so poor that you couldn't see them very well either, unless you were sitting right underneath them. Saying that you could go out to the nearest town where there were plenty of things to do there and the Tuk Tuk's were a very reasonable price and good fun too! The staff as always were very attentive and made sure our glasses were full. TIP - don't ask for a Baileys as their measures are a very meagre 25ml so when we asked for a double Baileys on ice we received a glass of milky water, I was so disappointed that I complained but they were adamant that the measure was correct, in UK the measure is 50ml. Apologies to Mihiran who put up with my tirade with good grace and even arranged for us to have a free lunch on our last day after speaking to his manager.
Overall we enjoyed our holiday, it is a beautiful place and the staff made our stay even more enjoyable, and special thanks top Gayan on reception who looked after all our needs and provided us with all the local knowledge we needed and also advised us on trips further away.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the Superior Room. It was a good size ground floor room with a balcony overlooking the garden and the sea. The balcony had a small table, 2 chairs and a single patio lounger. Overall the room looked clean but we did find an empty beer can under the wash basin, a bindi stuck on the mirror and some weird bite marks on us which we got at night while sleeping which went off completely almost a month after we returned home. Bathrooms were nice n clean though.
The property is big with a large swimming pool, a walkway within, a functional gym, play area for kids with a kiddie pool, quite a few restaurants serving different cuisines. Breakfast spread was quite good, service was a lil slow but with a smile.
You can get tuk tuks 2 mins from the resort and you can also call for PickMe cabs to go anywhere. Lot of beach shacks 2 mins walk from the resort. Although not a private beach...its ok and not too many people when we were there.

We stayed 6 nights in this beautiful and calm hotel. Servis was absolutely great, employees very nice and helpful always trying to do maximum for you.
Our room was clean and very nice. We really appreciated anti mosquitos electricity plug in the room so we could sleep without any problems :).
We also used gym which is well equiped and air conditioned. We had massage in spa which was nice but overpriced compared to other massage places you will find nearby.
The most wonderful experience for us was amazing not crowded big swimming pool and breakfast+dinner bufes which were absolutely insane- so much food and variety, also freshly made food in front of you on grill or pan. Our favorite were definitely fresh waffles with fruit or indian vegetarian specialities for dinner <3.
Beach in front of the hotel is public and not very nice so we would recommend to walk further ans find nicer spots around.
Overall we are happy that we have chosen this beautiful place.

Having spent two weeks travelling through southern Sri Lanka and staying at two other Cinnamon hotels we were most disappointed with the Bey hotel as a final staging before we flew home. Noisy, capacious, no atmosphere, poor selection of buffet style dishes. Positives were the housekeeping crew who were excellent compared to the restaurant staff who were pretty much disinterested , and the pool and ground crews really need a mention for looking after the guests so we'll. Come on Cinnamon sort things out!!

It was one of the worst experiences I had in Sri Lankan hotels. For the price we pay and given the caliber of this hotel, it was really below my expectations. To begin with, staff at the reception did not have a smile in their faces. We felt very unwelcome and it may be due to the fact that we are locals and speak Sinhala. They did not care at all. I only have my mother and sister in my family. We booked a superior triple room but was offered a standard room with just two single beds in the ground floor. I had to call the reception and tell them the situation and they offered me an extra bed. They did not even say sorry. The room was too small to put another bed. I told them I booked a superior triple room and then they said is one room far away. I accepted it. We lost one hour of our trip with that and that mentality kept with us throughout the trip. Staff at the restaurant were good and humble. But we saw crows eating food from plates. Before we even checked out and when we were in the room, they came to inspect the fridge whether we have taken anything from it. It was really impolite. At the checkout they continued to not care us. They did not apologize for what happened. How big the hotel is and great, if the staff is bad you would have a bad experience. Not treating the locals well is something that we see in many hotels and they have mastered this. I complained this incident to the John keels group and managers of this hotel. Hope they take action.

It's a nice place, the vibe is nice pool with activities, beach in front, lots of people, expensive places to eat (cheaper ones on the beach), good architecture.
What I don't value is asking for a slightly later check out because my wife was unwell and being denied and then for them to help me organise a taxi with someone who's overcharged me for a trip by almost double and also took 1000 LKR for the toll (again a lie and over charge)
Also the room had a smoke alarm which blinked/flashed all night. Luckily didn't bother me but may bother someone else staying.
Bear in mind if you have trouble walking, the room we were given was a 5-10 minute walk away from the reception desk.

We have spent a couple of nights at this hotel after arrival to Sri Lanka to wait for our PCR test results. Just as with our other Cinnamon hotel at the Maldives the staff were an absolute credit to the place. Don't like to list names as that doesn't recognize the people behind the scenes you don't see, each and every member of staff was courteous, friendly with a smile and made sure our stay was comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel is a rather tired behemoth that needs some TLC in terms of the decor rooms and garden, which the staff are aware of and hopefully Cinnamon will spend the effort to refurbish once things in the tourism industry settle.
There is access to a lovely beach and the pools were a really good size and very clean.
We were there on a half board basis and was very impressed with all the food and drinks served to us, all delicious, served hot in a clean and safe environment. Thank you for a lovely stay, Zsuzsa and Clive
