This restored Victorian mansion is just gorgeous. The rooms are very comfortable, and the breakfasts have to be experienced to be believed. Richard is a superb host. A perfect getaway in a pleasant riverfront town.

My wife and I were in Winona for a personal trip and thought we would give this bed and breakfast a try. From the moment you pull up to this gorgeous residence you are in for an amazing experience. Richard met us outside as he was concerned he didn't get all the ice off of the entrance we were going...

Unless you really NEED another night in a hotel, this B&B would be your best choice! You will be pampered by your host, Richard, and eat the most incredible 5 course breakfast. The house, and it's history, is dazzling. Amazing woodwork from the late 19th century.

I came when the weather was bitter cold, but Richard, David, Cindi and Ruth, make everything just right. Richard makes sure that I am warm enough. There is plenty of heat coming from the radiator in the bedroom and bath. There are extra blankets, and a ceramic heater, too. The tea room has hot water for tea, all of the...

What a special place; from the moment we arrived and met Richard to our departure two days later, we had a fabulous experience at the Alexander Mansion. The moment we were greeted by Richard we knew it would be a special place. From the oral history of this beautiful mansion, which Richard thoroughly provided, to the lavish, multi-course breakfasts, our...

Richard, our host, has done a superlative job restoring this old mansion. While very comfortable, it felt as if we stepped into the late 1990s. He took us on a tour of the house and related the history of the family that built it. Photos of the house and families that lived in it were scattered throughout as Richard has...

First, let's start with Richard, your host. Couldn't be more welcoming and enjoyed his tour of the home and insight into its history. The home has been kept up extremely well and has some subtle modern updates. The breakfast was amazing and gives you a great start to the day. Richard, you are the consummate host!

Having stayed at many B&B's over the years we would rate this as one of the best ever. The property is in incredible shape for its age, tastefully furnished and hosted by an innkeeper who is most attentive and committed to guest comfort and satisfaction. Rooms are large and comfortable with a full suite of amenities. Turn down service is...

This B&B by far surpasses others where we have stayed. We felt comfortable from the moment we made our reservations with Richard, the Innkeeper, to the time that we sadly said goodbye. The mansion is beautiful and spotless. We stayed two nights in Mary's Room, which was cozy and comfortable. We would ask for that room again. Each morning's breakfast...

Have you ever visited a historical mansion such as the James J. Hill house in St. Paul or Glensheen Mansion in Duluth, and thought to yourself, "Wouldn't it be great to spend a night here?" That's what the Alexander Mansion offers. The mansion has been restored meticulously, with beautiful carved wood, period chandeliers and every attention to detail. And then...
