Detailed Reviews
Recently stayed here as we were desperate for a place that would be convenient to our reunion. What looked like a swamp in the backyard turned out to be a haven for nature and provided a show right outside the door.
The room was small but very clean. It had the basic necessities plus a small refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was tiny but it had a clean, hot shower and that's all we needed.
Coffee was available nearby at the Casey's convenience store. There is also a restaurant/bar next door to the motel.
The owners live in the motel and this guarantees no noisy disturbances from other guests. They provide a fire pit and firewood for the guests. There are lots of chairs and a swing to sit on. There is a small dock to walk out of try fishing and we saw lots of fish jumping up. There is also a big sand box area for kids to play with lots of sand related toys.
I am happy that we gave this place a try and look forward to planning another trip to the area for fall colors.

I recently stayed there during the off season and it was great. Pat was very accommodating to have the room ready for me when I arrived. It was a large room with a full kitchen that included all I needed to cook that night. The lake is beautiful and the sakatah state park bike trail is right next to the hotel! Great place- I highly recommend it!

I chose Sakatah Bay Resort because I wanted to experience being on that lovely lake again after an absence from Waterville for many decades. It didn't disappoint! The owners were friendly and made sure that I was comfortable and had what I needed. I loved watching the ducks and geese on the lake during the day, and the quiet ambience of the place at night. Reminded me of a rustic fishing lodge.

The rooms here are quite small, but they do have a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot in a kitchenette area separated from the bedroom so that when I wake up early, my wife can sleep in without me disturbing her. So when I woke up, I made some coffee and then stepped out the back door and sat and looked over the lake. Saw a loon Sunday morning on the lake & watched the birds feed in the back yard also. We enjoyed our stay very much & the owners are exceptionally nice people. The Hilton it is not, but friendly mom & pop resort on the lake, it is!

They rented to us for one nice very unusual, but they new we need to get away for a two dayier after a hard week. The room is basic but they have kitchenettes, very well stocked, we the necessities and very large gathering area. And Pat is wonderful and understanding to our needs and very knowledgble about things to do and helped me out with bugs juice!!!! We rented a pontoon boat the next day across the lake (suggested by pat), because their's was broken and went out swimming, fishing and of course sunbathing. Had a great burger across the street at a new place, today was their 3 months anniversary off their opening, but the have no bathroom. This is a GREAT Place to bring your family to go horseback riding, nature trails and hiking, boating and to go to Waseca to Shop.

We recently stayed at the Sakatah for 4 days. Its the only place we found to stay at in Waterville. The owner Pat is a lovely woman and accommodated us as best as she could. There is a lot of construction going on there and because it is off season she could only rent us the room for 4 days because the construction workers needed it. Its a very basic room. There isn't much in the town. There is a gas station right next to this Resort which serves the best dark roast coffee, we walked there every morning for breakfast. If you like the great outdoors this is a great place to stay. I'm a city girl myself and we were there because of death in the family. We didn't have a view of the lake just the parking lot. The price was great.

I'm writing this as I sit here on my last night staying at this small resort. It was the meeting place for a few friends from nearby. This place makes for perfect gathering place as there is a picnic table with use of their gas or charcoal grill. We had the studio closest to the picnic area so it was perfect. The bed was incredibly soft as was the loveseat. This room also has full size stove, microwave and apartment size fridge. This area is separate from the bedroom so didn't have to disturb the one that goes to bed early. A fishing boat is also available for rent. There is a place in back where a fire ring and firewood is available for guests to use. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I will recommend staying here if you need some peace and quiet.
