Be very careful relying on promises made by Hotel management. We had to change our booking and were giving assurances in writing for reimbursement. After we stayed hotel management refused to honor their commitments. The hotel overall is decent, significantly overpriced for what it offers.
If you like Tuscany and especially Montalcino area this place will be first in your bucket lists. Strongly recommend if you like a luxurious and charm location. We had an amazing experience, the dominant location above wine yards. The beautiful spa and pools and the exceptional wine. Very clean and comfortable, we will definitely return We had 2009 Brunello di Montalcino wine, absolutely fantastic, honestly I could not imagine anything better
We had an amazing stay at the Castello di Velona at the beginning of October cause it’s the Perfect combination of a hideaway where you can enjoy luxury and relaxation combined with the most amazing views over the landscape of the Tuscany! The warm thermal water pool is huge with an indoor and outdoor area which means that you can enjoy it all year round. Food, Service and cleanliness convinced us 100%! An absolute recommendation if you’re looking for a secret romantic hideaway - especially for couples :)
This is a beautiful place to stay- we had 2 nights there at the end of a week long trip in Tuscany in September 2020. The hotel and surroundings are breath taking. The staff are extremely friendly. The spa and outdoor pools are very relaxing and well maintained. The restaurant isn’t the cheapest but is brilliant quality, as is the wine as expected! Highly recommend. They dealt very well with implementing COVID measures in a friendly way.
I truly love Castello di Velona! I've been here twice now and it still makes me feel like I'm in one of the most beautiful castles in the world, surrounded by heavenly scenery, the best Italian food there is and excellent service. There's no better way to describe this gem with the stunningly beautiful location on a hill south of Montalcino. The view from just about everywhere in the castle is also to die for and especially so if you stay in one of the larger terrace suites. Never have I felt so relaxed while just enjoying the Tuscan hills as far as one's eyes can reach from my own terrace.... it makes you relax and dream to the extend that it almost feel spiritual. The food is so good, well prepared and the tiramisu is the best in the world! The tiramisu is prepared by your table and is so delicious and fluffy that one can only dream of! Breakfast is also really good with a large selection and always served by the table. The resort offers half board with an impressive dine-around concept where you can also dine at other Michelin starred restaurants in the local area. Where else is that even possible? It's well worth the money to take advantage of this. The pool area... an experience in itself and so unique! Natural thermal water and yes again, that view.... The spa is also lovely and this time I had a massage, which was one of the best I ever had. The service is top notch all over this resort and attention to detail comes naturally here. You get the best service from even before deciding to book (always book direct to get the best rates), upon arrival, during your stay and until you leave, Rooms are beautifully decorated and the combination of medieval and modern decor is tastefully done. I just got back home but can't wait to go back to my castle.…
