This hotel has everything you need: 3 pools, hot water, spa, and last but not least, a great restaurant: Il Brunello! We had dinner there and it left us speechless, an amazing experience! I suggest this hotel (but I should call it Castle) to everyone.
Strongly recommend not to come to Castello di Velona or be very very carefull at paying the bill at checkout. The most poor price to value ratio and the worst guest service I have ever experienced. The woman in lobby is totally unflexible, very strict and unpolite as a result. The lobby staff have to call with any problem to manager, who is unflexible at all and do not want to solve the problem just inform about what you have to do!!!! Moreover, at final bill they charge more then agreed for extra services like taxi and they do not keep the agreement. You fill that thay just traying to earn more and more money on your stay and you have to be very carefull not to overpay. Another problem was with lots of ants on terrace (balcony) who was also entering the room and hotel staff did nothing about it, although we were asking mamy times for help. The rooms are old, aircondition very loud and there was an information that filters have to be chaged, so it is dangerous for your health. Moreover, they do not keep the key car in save place and there is total mess, so the lobby staff give you keys to another car and have huge problems with finding proper keys. It was our first and last time here, despite view is amazing and food tasty like in many places in Tuscany.…
Breathtaking view, fantastic hotel and food !! We were welcomed by the General manager who explained the whole history of the place. You have to try the wine of the house, excellent. I don’t think there are much hotels like this around. Hope i can come back soon.
My husband and I stayed here recently as part of our honeymoon road trip around northern Italy. Whilst the hotel itself, room and views were really beautiful/well kept and the staff were very friendly, we felt that the cost of food and drink at the hotel put a real dampener on the experience. We are both professionals with well paid jobs in the UK, have stayed in many 5* hotels previously. The prices were just astronomical here. €8 euros for a bottle of water, €18 for an aperol spritz, €19 euros for a glass of rose and €176 euros for a one x “catch of the day” sea bass. PLUS the 20% service charge on all of the above. These are much higher costs than what you would find in any other 5* hotels in any major cities worldwide. There is just no need to charge these crazy prices when you’re already spending a good amount of money to stay at this resort. I can see that a number of other reviews for this resort say the same thing, that the cost of food and drink is just too high. There must therefore be some truth to this if a number of people from all over the world are saying the same. Perhaps if you reduced your prices significantly your reviews and trip advisor rating would be much higher. The prices need to be much more reasonable. We stayed in a number of other much cheaper places in Tuscany which offered a much better service and were still absolutely beautiful.. The good thing about the hotel was that the pool use and spa use was included, which we weren’t sure about at the time of booking.…
Pulling up to Castello di Velona was like pulling up to a fairytale castle. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for anything better. The view is phenomenal, the pool is excellent, the rooms are cozy and the staff is so friendly. We loved dinner and breakfast here, as well. The only issue was regarding our Virtuoso perks but we believe that was on part of our travel agent. Make sure your agent books your stay accordingly if using one!
Beautiful views throughout the hotel over the Val d’Orcia. Our room was comfortable and had outdoor space with furniture overlooking the valley. The bathtub had a choice of normal hot and cold water and water from the thermal spring, which is used in the indoor/outdoor pools. The pools are large and relaxing. The terrace by the pool is great for views, drinks and lunch. The staff was very helpful in making winery recommendations.
Correct food but poor and slow service. Extremely expensive (26€ for a basic tiramisu for example) with regard to the overall experience quality. Uncomfortable oversized seats. The resort itself is beautiful and offers an unique panoramic view on this beautiful area, but the restaurant definitely falls short in matching its stunning environment.
My daughter and I were very excited to stay here last week for one night and experience all of the amenities this property has to offer. Unfortunately she fell ill. I contacted the property 36 hours prior to arrival explaining we were in Milan and didn’t want to travel south and chance making others ill. I’ve requested a credit for our one night to be used within 30 days; as my card was charged the full amount. Hopefully the property values it’s guests enough to allow us to use a credit to visit, as I have yet to get a response.
From the beginning to end we had a great experience. Our room had an amazing view and a patio to enjoy while sharing a great bottle of wine. A picture post card view in any direction made for an amazing experience. The staff were wonderful and attentive without being intrusive. Our dinner in the restaurant was fantastic!
THE EXPERIENCE WAS NOT WORTH THE COST AND NOT AS ADVERTISED, This hotel has a stunning view and the pool and restaurant staff were cordial but that is all I can say. I feel like we were tricked on the amenities and after spending 3 weeks in Italy, I can say there are much better places to visit than Costello di Verona. The restaurant and drinks were overpriced and honestly disappointing. Customer Service was okay but when we raised concerns the staff ignored us. For the costs, I expected a stellar experience but it felt like we were at a 1 star hotel. We spent the day here and the view was amazing but it was definitely not a spa. Most of the items were not working so we basically got to sit in a warm pool with a couple of jets that went off and on. There were things floating in the pool and the pool downstairs was cold and filthy with no working jets. The locker room was tiny and had one hair dryer, 2 working showers and small, half full bottles of shampoo and soap. We had a group and had to argue to remove someone else’s drinks that were erroneously added to our bill. The water and drinks were overpriced. We spent thousands of dollars here for the day and dinner and the experience was worth about $300. When we brought up issues we were dismissed with no apologies or concessions. It makes me think they are having financial difficulties. Do not go here for anything except the view and even then make sure you check the cost and facilities in advance.…
