We go to the N shore often but hadn't stayed at Larsmont yet, they were always booked by the time I made plans. Wow, really impressed! Even with all the pandemic related challenges, we've thoroughly enjoyed our time. Thoughtfully designed rooms-- we're in lakefront suite with gorgeous views; even though staying above family with young kids, we only hear them when they're outside (and our windows are open). Ate twice now at the Ledge Rock Grille-- fantastic fish and wild rice, great tomato soup, highly recommend the strawberry rhubarb pie. Helpful, courteous staff. The guy keeping the fires going is super diligent and engaging. Hope to be able to return often
We have come up to Larsmont many times and thought we would try it again during COVID times. I appreciated all the signage to make people careful, particularly as we seemed to be some of the youngest people here and other folks were in higher risk age groups. That being said, the floors were still wet when we walked in to our place at 6 pm and the cleaning staff had just left. This wouldn’t particularly be of concern except that throughout our stay we saw the cleaning staff come in and out of units without masks on. This put our entire vacation on a more stressful level.
The property had a vacation home vibe to it. I really liked that. We had a room that was at the very end (I think) and it was still only a few minutes walk to the main building where there is a bar, restaurant with indoor dining as well as a patio overlooking the beautiful lake. There is also a store, pool, and a lounge area. I also like the Adirondack chairs that are situated facing the lake by the shore and all around the property + fire pits. It was so nice to just sit and relax looking at the vast Lake Superior. The service from the front desk, bar, and restaurant was all good. The property has an indoor pool and a hot tub outside so bring your swim wear. But if you forgot to bring a pair head over to their store and they have a few that you can choose from. I didn't notice this until we were checking out but had I known we would have definitely spent some time in the hot tub after a whole day of walking/hiking. If you get a small room, expect a small room. My husband and I travel more often than others and we were both shocked at how small the space was. Everything was within reach (like literally) because as you open the door, the end of the bed is there as you step in. Then turn 90 degrees and there's the door to the bathroom. There was barely any room for our luggage. The water pressure was really good though. It wasn't "rough/hard" so they must have some softener in their water system which was nice. No frizzy hair, yay! So overall it was a 4 out of 5 kind of stay. The room could have been bigger. Other than that, it was a nice stay. We would definitely come back and getting a suite next time!…
A t-shirt I bought says it all: Lake Superior, no salt, no sharks, no worries. There were certainly no worries in this worrying time we're living in. The cleanliness of our two bedroom, two and a half bath townhouse was comforting. They even have an ozonator to clean the air and air filters. Almost every accommodation has a direct view to the lake. The fire pits are stocked daily with wood and starter kits. S'more kits are also provided in the evening! Our grandson loved wading on the flat, rocky shore and exploring the tide pools. We had a comfortable relaxing visit. Many hiking trails and state parks are very close and fun to explore.
We recently stayed at Larsmont over Labor Day weekend. It was a fantastic weekend. Being Labor Day, it was naturally busy. Fortunately they have a fairly strict quiet hours policy that everyone aheard to. Being right on the lake was fantastic. They have several fire pit and seating areas right on the water for optimal enjoyment and grounds crew that will drive around ans make sure everything is perfect. The on site restaurant is fantastic. We had every meal there for 3 days and never felt the need to look anywhere else.
