We booked a last-minute, long weekend for our family and stayed in the main building. While the room felt a little tired (bedding seemed worn and the toilet barely flushed), we thoroughly enjoyed the grounds and the service, especially in the restaurant. We loved relaxing in the Adirondacks along the shore and dinner overlooking the lake. Our girls enjoyed the indoor pool in the evenings after a day of adventures at nearby sites. While the resort was packed, there were many quiet spots to tuck away and enjoy the beauty of the lake.

Pros: Staff is friendly, they offered masks and hand sanitizer, hot tub suite was large and clean, price wasn't terrible for off-season. Cons: Dated. The bathroom was very dated and needed some remodeling. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but I'd probably go back to Burlington Bay next time as it's newer and more comfortable.

The first time we stayed at this resort it was awesome. We stayed at Burlington bay in June and were able to check in early and had a great time. Though none of the dvd players worked in our room. The second time we stayed here was in Oct 20-22 and they would not let us check in till 5PM cause the room was not ready. There was alot of people being told there room was not ready well after the 4PM check in time. We stayed in one of the pet friendly rooms and when a storm came "and knocked the power out for the whole town" so no internet or cable that day, not a big deal, but the room leaked water from the living room window and the bedroom window. Water running down on to the heat/ac unit. Soaking the carpet. When we complained they said nothing they could do about it. But gave us 2 towels to soak up water. You could tell by looking at the ceiling they have had this problem before. People working at the desk were rude and unhelpful with any questions we had. We really wanted to like it here but doubt we will stay at the lodge again. Will try Burlington bay again and see how that goes. But I wouldn't stay at the pet friendly rooms unless you like black mold.

Pros: Great value for rooms! We have stayed at both Burlington Bay and now Superior Shores Hotel (a suite w/ kitchen together w/adjoining room for 2 couples traveling together) It is a VERY good value for what you get. The parking lot is wide enough to handle trucks hauling snowmobile trailers and there are plenty of rolling luggage carriers inside the hotel doors to lug all your gear in/out. Convenient location of elevator. In the winter months-these things are all important to us.The rooms are a little tired but they have everything you would need. The view out the windows are wonderful-even in the snowstorms of Feb! Housekeeping was reliable and gave us whatever we needed. Cons: Where to begin...We (x2 couples) had made reservations in the Dining Rm for 7 pm VDay for dinner. We had been told ahead of time about the surf/turf VDay special. We had x4 other options given to us when we arrived, one which was no longer available. We ordered drinks and waited 20 mins until we went to the bar ourselves, to find out the server had not ever put in our order at the bar. Our food arrived and although it looked delish, it was cool-not hot as though it had been sitting out awhile. When we told our server she said they were "short staffed" which was obvious by this point, and "sorry" but did nothing about it. Afterwards, we went into the bar and could see that 9:10 tables had dirty dishes (dining) and glasses on them. We bussed one of the tables to another table so we could sit down. None of the tables were ever cleared while we were there. The bar was full of people and more dirty glasses. The very pregnant bartender was unsuccessfully trying to do her job of tending bar, making drinks for the DR and bussing/waiting on tables in the bar. We only saw x4 people working the whole night-one person was the cook who was helping to serve who had a boot or cast on one of his feet! It was B A D due to lack of help and this was on VDay??? We stayed there for x3 nights and Cristyn (sp?) was the best bartender in the place on night #3. Also, the pool/hottub area...one of the bathrooms was OUT OF SERVICE, there was another bathroom with an open door but no one knew if it was unisex or what-no signage. The Sauna was also OUT OF ORDER. We decided not to chance the pool/hottub for fear of what lurked there. We also walked out to the lake on the walkway. It was very slippery. I almost slipped multiple times-a sprinkle of de-icer would have gone a long ways right by the building. The place just looks/feels like it is being neglected. If there was a manager on site we never saw them. In fact, we thought maybe our music might be too loud on our last eve and went to turn it down, but then laughed about anyone being around to complain to! Let's hope for new management or new owners in the very near future. We love our snowmobile trips up on the Northshore and would hate to have to start looking for other lodging.

My husband and I go to Superior Shores every MLK holiday to go to the bar and watch football. Love the staff, love the food, love the drinks. The new owner wants to make it more "upscale". We loved the rustic feel and the winter package (2 nights, $300, $100 in food and drink coupons) I'm afraid that is all going to change. We'll see.
