Friends and I slept in a real railway car! Comfortable bed, very clean bathroom. And I did not have to put up with the noise of the wheels on the rails! The owners were like family, very friendly. There are unique gifts for sale, pictures to look at, games to play, a large selection of DVD's to watch and jigsaw puzzles to put together. Very nice family stay!
The owners of this unique traincar hotel add the personal touches that make it a great place to stay. I have been here before, but it was my husband's first trip to Northern Rail Traincar Hotel. I love all the relaxing things they offer: movies, books, games, and puzzles, to use after you settle in for the evening. Smores by the campfire is a nice treat too. Jeff and Cyndi really make you feel at home, and had great suggestions for dining in Two Harbors. You can tell they love this place. Each room has a recycling bin that they collect and recycle, rather than fill a landfill ; )Thanks. The bed was comfortable and had the softest sheets! I like that each room has it's own theme and decor. A rug for muddy boots/shoes is a fun homey touch. The center hallway is nicely decorated with train memorabilia. Continental breakfast is offered each morning, with coffee, tea or cocoa available any time in the lobby. About the only thing I would want is a mini fridge, but don't know where it could go.…
Tucked away just north of Two Harbors is this gem of an inn. Converted boxcars make up the rooms. We stayed in one of the King Victorian cars (but peeked into some vacant rooms). Delightfully decorated and very comfortable. We are already planning our next stay! Would have liked to have a small coffee maker in the room, but coffee was available in the lobby. The water pressure in the sink was low, but the shower was just fine. Thanks to Cindi and Jeff.
We loved staying at the Northern Rail Traincar Inn. The place is very unique and very inviting. It has almost everything that you need. I would give it a higher ranking, but it was missing one thing - enough water in the bathroom. I'm not sure if there was something wrong or if it is normal, but I would never have been able to wash my hair as the water was little more than a trickle out of the shower and also barely came out of the sink. That was a big disappointment as everything else was so wonderful.
Wow, sleeping in a converted boxcar - -with really great train memorabilia decorating the hallway between the cars . . . a train lovers delight. Beds were very comfortable, and the owners are really great folks. They had a campfire with s'mores for us at night. I'd definetly stay there again.
