Pro's: Plenty of activities- biking, music (wonderful musician with harp guitar we heard), kayaking, canoeing, all included and very safe, very good staff, excellent coffee, pretty room with lots of amenities - kitchenette, fireplace, large tub. Also on property, pool, sauna, large hot tub - more like small pool. Really great for families. 10 out of 10 for cleanliness and condition, and effort, really nice! Also, many hiking trails, waterfalls, picturesque areas within a few minutes' drive. Con's - multi-unit townhouses so not always peaceful, lots of dogs so the small grassy area is basically a dog toilet and not everyone cleans up, despite bag dispenser right there.

Hotel's Favorite
I've probably stayed at 15-20 different locations on the north shore over the years but this is now my very favorite. We stayed over presidents weekend and into the mid-week in the Grand Superior 1 Bedroom (room 72A) and it was phenomenal. The view was amazing, the privacy was unparalleled, the full kitchen was welcoming, and the fireplace was cozy. We spent sometime in the outdoor heated pool and the hot tub which was so fun to sit in while the snow was falling all around us. We had dinner one night at the Bluefin Grille and because it was mid-week and slow, our service was amazing. I had the scallops and my husband had the steak and we both were very happy. My husband also took advantage of the skating rink to get out and work on some stick handling. Hot tip: although they have skate rental, they do not have hockey stick rental and as far as we could find out, there was pretty much no where to buy a stick on the north shore. So bring your own! We also drove up to Grand Marais for lunch and drove down to Tettegouche and did a little snowshoeing which was just a quick trip from the resort. Overall just a great trip and great location and our new favorite.

This was our 2nd stay with Bluefin Bay Resorts, We love the central location to hiking trails and state parks on the northshore. This year we stayed at the main location, where the units are a little older than Surfside unit we stayed in last year. They have a variety of unit layouts to choose from. We picked the 2 BR 2 Story unit. Great water views from both MBR and LR. Kitchen was a bit crowded, but the property is well maintained. Separate heating/cooling units for BRs and main room, which was nice. Although we didn't use them, the onsite amenities are very nice and family friendly. Check in staff was great and the onsite Bluefin Grill serves great food.

We traveled-finally-as things have started to gradually reopen, and were so happy to head back to the north shore and beautiful Bluefin Bay. We have stayed before and always enjoyed making this our home base for hiking and biking in the area. It was more of a necessity this time to have a full kitchen as so few restaurants are fully opened. The reservation department was accommodating. Cancellation policies have been liberalized in the event of any industry shutdown so I felt comfortable in booking in advance knowing my deposit would be returned if we didn't travel. We booked a 2 bedroom unit for our party of 5 There are a few different layouts but our choices were limited to dog friendly units. This is an adjoining model with kitchen/living area and bath separated by door from the adjoining 2 bedrooms and bath. the kitchen is very small for 2 cooks but living area was spacious and had plenty of room for all. The bath in the middle of that living area is odd but not a deal breaker. The views are incredible with the property so close to the shoreline. Sitting on the comfortable deck and watching waves roll in is so peaceful and beautiful. Sunrises are beyond compare. The dog friendly policy was very much in evidence as there were numerous dogs on the property. All were well behaved and pet owners were friendly and understanding of the occasional barking greetings. There was no housekeeping during our stay but there were plenty of towels and staff were available by phone for any needs. Clearly they have put considerable thought into reopening while keeping staff and guests safe and healthy which is much appreciated. One of the biggest surprises was our newfound appreciation for a pullout couch. We offered to sleep there, reluctantly, because of some health needs of one of the other travelers. What a surprise! The couch was by far one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on and enjoyed it every night of our stay. There is great hiking and biking in the immediate area and some guided activites are available. This trip was a much needed break. The beauty of the north shore never fails to disappoint. It was a healing journey in these times of pandemic and so much other bad news.

We've stayed here a few times and have had some struggles in the past with various things but this visit went pretty well. Had some initial struggles with check in as they didn't inform us that the two-bedroom, style C condo was actually 2 units with a door between the units you open (it's a studio condo and a Lakeview condo combined). The units were labeled A&B. The A unit door was wide open so we assumed that was someone else's unit but when entering B we knew that wasn't right. Was a lot of back and forth and a lot hassle would have been saved by writing A&B on key card. Plus with the door hanging wide open on check in we were leery if the place was truly clean. The staff always offer options when things don't go right...just wish a bit more attention to detail is given at times. Was a bit disappointed to see their was no TV in the 2nd bedroom and no deck furniture...despite the fact every other unit in sight had furniture. Aside from these things our stay went well. Everything in the unit was functional. They kept our wood bin full. We rented bikes which was fun. We've been to several places along the northshore and bluefin has the best unobstructed views of lake superior.
