The St. Croix Suite room 216 was beautiful. This room has a river and bridge view from the small balcony. The bedroom has a wonderful 2 person jacuzzi, gas fireplace, wall mounted tv, comfy bed and nice antique looking furnishings. The bathroom is all marble and ceramic tile with waterfall open style shower. The front room has a tv, fold out sofa bed, small table for 2, Keurig coffee maker and small side table. Ice is easily obtained from the front desk as no ice maker on the floors.

There are only a few negatives but minor: no refrigerator or microwave. The front room is very dark as only a few lights on the walls and wallpaper dark as well (could call it cozy?). We were there on a colder day and the bathroom and front room were rather chilly as seems there isn't any other heat sources than the furnace/AC on the outside wall so didn't carry to those areas.

The front desk people were wonderful. Sorry I didn't get names but they were personable and professional and the facility is spotless. Top notch service from everyone we encountered.

Went to the inside pub later on that evening for a couple drinks and bartender was accommodating and pleasant. The outside patio was to be opened but a surprise snowfall and cool down prevented that from happening. It is nice up there though.

Would definitely recommend a stay there. We did go during the week so pricing was more reasonable as is rather higher end to stay summer or weekends.

We stayed in one of the new rooms, on the west (road) side. I would suggest requesting river view as the road was a little noisy over night. The room was freezing when we entered, part of their energy management system, but warmed up quickly. The room was new (October 2019?), so no major issues. The only comments on the room: the sliding barn door for the bathroom is VERY heavy for kids and doesn't give the greatest of privacy, and the room door didn't latch when left to close on it's own - a security issue.

Our family ate dinner and breakfast from Charlies, the onsite bar/restaurant. The 'kid's menu' portions were AWESOME and very much worth the reasonable price.

Overall the attention to detail doesn’t match the price. The window coverings are about 2 inches short on each side ~ not a great experience with outside light and morning Sun streaming in. Chairs on the patio less than comfortable. Shower stall needs some attention to eradicate the mold/mildew in the corners. Linens were very comfortable but the bed is VERY hard~ be prepared. The facility either needs to adjust their rate ~ more like a $150 per night room or they need to invest into their rooms.

I have never been so disappointed in a hotel that I paid $400.00 a night for ever. The St. Croix Suites need major updating and just general maintenance badly. We stayed 3 nights and the bed was very uncomfortable, the rooms are very dark and dingy, the jetted tub jets were dirty and the tub surround needed painting and repair. The last night we were there they had a wedding in the ballroom which our room was right above and the disc jockey played very loudly until midnight, when we called to complain they said there was no way they could stop it. I had to call twice to get to speak with the manager and he finally said he would comp our room for that night. They should be more aware of putting people in the rooms above the ballroom that are not in the wedding party of the wedding going on. It is too bad because this hotel has the best views of the St. Croix River and right in the heart of Stillwater, close to everything. We had no maid service during our stay and had to ask for fresh towels, coffee and toilet paper. I expect more for $400 a night. Won't stay there again.

I could write a huge review but to sum it up shortly- their business plan (if they have one) must be to spend as little as possible while taking advantage of their location and have no customer service.

I would not even recommend the historic rooms as just a place to sleep for the night- lumpy, uncomfortable beds and “pillows”(not even half the size of a standard pillow). The linens are so cheap/old they get pulled off the mattress when you sit, the towel quality is less than what you get a gym and motel 6 leaves you more towels than this place.

Water Street Inn in Stillwater. Well, if paying $327 for an $80 room is your idea of fun, this is a great place to stay. And if you enjoy an abrasive, and arrogant staff that treats you as a distraction from their own little world, you will be doubly pleased. Plus, if your burning desire is to stay in a room with wet carpet stained and dirty and as a bonus, you dream of having a shelf-less bathroom affording the opportunity to use your toiletries from the bathroom floor, you will be in heaven. This place sucks. They have the best location in Stillwater and have ruined it with the belief there is a never ending supply of people that will stay there. They feel there is no reason to accommodate the customer today as there are thousands of unsuspecting people in line behind them for tomorrow. Thus, why lift a finger to do anything for the customer we have, there are plenty more where they came from. Someday, I think someone will wise up, unfortunately, it may be some time. Good luck!

Contrary to some other reviews, we had a fabulous experience here! We had a remodeled room, on the river side of the building, with a beautiful balcony and rocking chairs to enjoy the perfect fall weather and scenery!

Our bed was comfortable, the room was clean and quiet, and we did have a fridge. All of the staff members we encountered were very friendly as well. I loved that the shower had a soap and a shampoo dispenser on the wall, and the bathroom sink had a soap dispenser as well, rather than the usual individual wrapped hotel soap.

The rooftop bar was stunning and we could have spent all night there! Charlies, the street level restaurant was just so-so -- the patio seating is definitely more desirable than the inside seating.

There is only 1 elevator, but we never had to wait long. There are also stairs if you're willing to climb those. The parking lot was also convenient, with an added $19 fee per night to park in that lot. Parking in this area of Stillwater is limited, so I'd recommend spending the money to park in this gated lot.

The staff were friendly, which is nearly the only good thing I can say about this hotel. Any charm that is offered by the antique furniture and the history of the hotel is completely overshadowed by the quality of the room. The doors were warped and would not close completely. Even the door to our room had to be forced closed. Cracked ceiling plaster and a very unclean room did not help. The room was incredibly noisy. We thought an NBA game was happening on the floor above us. The prices they charge are completely based on the location and not the quality of the hotel itself.

Upon checking into our room (which had the hot tub/fireplace amenities for our 2 teens), the room was as cold as ice and didn't warm up until the middle of the night with heat and fireplace cranked, thus we were unable to use the hot tub. The next day our fireplace stopped working. They offered a slight price deduction or change of room. We changed rooms and the staff were courteous for this process. The other issues we had were: dirty carpets (leftover garbage and literal dirt from prior guest); overpriced bad food at pub; overpriced room service food & order was wrong. There are added surcharges to all dining too. We had to request extra bath towels too. Also be aware there are NO alarm clocks, NO microwaves, & NO refrigerators. We put our leftover food in the window ledges to keep it cold. We stay at hotels regularly and for this price point, it was a huge disappointment for our entire family.

This is the review I sent to the inquiry how was your stay.

“you cant always get what you want”

Parting words from your front desk representative on the elevator after declining
the sorry loooking replacement room

You know the anticipation you feel when you think you have booked a great room, to enter and find it is not as described. Further the frustration when there is no alternative. That continues after asking for a price adjustment to be told that there is no manager on duty but you will be contacted the next day and of course you are not.

To describe this suite as having a river view with no mention the view is also of the entire parking lot; the two balconies are in actuality one with the other being a rail you can barely put a 1/2 foot on; the city view is looking at a gas station.

A big shower that has a shower head that has only one position, 6 inches from the shower wall; 2 towels only that barely surround your body that are fraying and thin; 2in1 shampoo; a small container of lotion and no bathroom cups.

Only 2 coffee cups and 2 glasses. No other way to describe the sheets other than cheap.

No other COVID protocols other than for daily room cleaning.

And to top it off being charged in error for a nights parking, ours was prepaid, with no response yet as to a refund.

This suite was not as advertised, I am still waiting to be contacted by a manager and as mentioned no communication regarding the parking.

How do you think our stay was?

Our stay was in a Tower Suite.. $399.00 plus a night.

They charged the room to our card with a the quickness I have never experienced before. No check out need, already charged. We had read that some restaurants take 3% of tips and mentioned that and YES THEY DO. So tip in cash.

Third floor is also a public restroom floor and I do not think they have an in room safe, not described and none I found.

Not sure how the other rooms on our pretend balcony side are described but they appear to overlook an alley and not sure if the building was abandoned or vacant.

Waited a week for the room manager response, 5 days for the parking
no response.

Great location, but, …

A true disappointment and definitely over priced in my opinion.
