We stayed Sunday-Tuesday. Bruce checked us in and was friendly. We had a room in building D with a king bed, fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The room was nice, and had a great view of the lake on one side, and the woods on the other. I saw 2 deer right out the window on Tuesday morning. Beautiful sunrise on Monday. My husband and I used the sauna on Sunday night. It is a dry sauna but was still nice since it was a bit chilly out that day. We both used the jacuzzi tub twice, very nice to stretch out in and relax after hiking all day! The room also has a shower but the water pressure was awful. There is coffee in the room but we didn't care for it, luckily we brought our own and made that the second day. The fireplace is gas and while it looks awesome the blower is very loud. After it would get to a certain temperature it would pop super loud and it scared us every time haha! The room also includes a dresser, a few hangers and a mini fridge! There is also a ceiling fan and a small tv, tho not many channels. We would definitely stay here again but we try to stay somewhere new every time we do a North Shore trip. I'm not sure how it would be in the middle of summer or on a weekend but at this time of year on a weekday it was extremely quiet and a nice getaway to relax after losing my dad a few months ago. There are restaurants and gas stations nearby but just be warned that everything is expensive on the North Shore! Also make sure to check their website because they have many different types of rooms to fit your needs.…
No services whatsoever provided. No housekeeping, no amenities. Covid offered as excuse. Bed old and uncomfortable. No comfortable chairs to read. Poor lighting. No contact with owners or staff. Very thin walls. On positive side, room was clean and plenty of towels left for our 3 night stay.
Clean, spacious, comfortable. Great "resort" feel with a sports area (badminton, corn hole, basketball). Great location for traveling north and south to traditional "north shore" tourist sights. Owner was more than accommodating with local recommendations and meeting the needs of our large group of 17. On-site meeting room is exceptional with great view of Lake Superior. Highly recommend!
The good: The room was quite large and had big windows with great views of the lake. Bed was comfortable. The not so good: The walls in Building E were so thin that I could hear every conversation in the adjacent room. But the worst part is the parking -- the two rooms in Building E are accessed by an outside door with parking for one car. If someone is already parked there, then you must go up the hill to the next level of the building and then walk down. Not easily accessible, and people should be warned about this when making a reservation. I can't understand why the owners don't just put in another parking space on the lower level; there is plenty of room.
A quick three night trip up to the North Shore. I found this place to be very comfortable. It’s fairly no frills and it suit my needs just fine. In times of Covid I am avoiding people, so the microwave and fridge in the room came in quite handy for me to make my own meals with the food I brought from home. Theview from my window was wonderful and provided a great view of the sunrises out on Lake superior. The bed was fairly comfortable, the room is clean as a whistle, and the host were very friendly and helpful. The TV reception was a little bit lacking but that’s OK, as that’s not the reason I came up here. It’s fairly close to temperance River State Park, the superior hiking trail, and many of the sites on Minnesota’s North Shore. I will gladly stay here again.
I am still here, staying in a king room with lake view. It's huge, really lovely, clean as can be, and quiet. There's a mini fridge and a microwave, so I've been able to make my own breakfasts and lunches easily (I'm a pretty low-key traveler) and during COVID they supply hand sanitizer and no-contact check-in. I'm a teacher who is ZOOMED OUT and I came up for a break, some hiking and outside time all by myself. I think it's a perfect place to stay.
I stayed here 23 years ago loved the place Finally made it back this year still a great place to stay We loved the view of the lake each morning and very comfortable beds Bruce and Sheryl thank you for a wonderful stay too bad for covid 19 wasn’t able to tell you this in person Looking forward to coming back hopefully in a couple of years
Great place, rented a family condo 2 bedroom, so clean, all supplies, fully stocked kitchen, ovens, all dishes, patio, view of lake, parking by door, owner is friendly, quiet, windows to see views, outside firepit and grill. My kids just loved it, so happy.
We stayed here for two nights in July of 2020. The resort is located around the midpoint of the north shore drive between Duluth and the Canadian border. Our room was very spacious as we had enough to use an air mattress so the kids didn’t have to share a bed. The owners took COVID precautions as most items were self-serve. The sauna was closed due to the current situation. Grills were available if you wanted to use them. There are not many good options and grocery stores and restaurants in area towns close early. If we were to come back we’d want a room with a kitchen so we could prepare meals. This was a great place to use as a home base as we traveled up and down Highway 61.
My husband stayed here for a few nights with 3 other guys on a snowmobile trip. They loved how they could have 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms plus a middle room with full kitchen and space to be together. Reasonable rates, clean & no weird smells....the only thing he mentioned that could have been improved was the quality of the toilet paper (it was ridiculously thin). The owners were friendly & helpful. Would have been nice to have a view towards the lake, but they’ll know what to ask for next time!
