Quick and easy check-in. Convenient parking right in front of the rooms. Good location, right off major roads, making it hard to get lost when arriving from somewhere far away. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little cramped, but as long as you only plan on using the toilet there should be no issue. Within walking distance of the major streets that have restaurants or grocery stores. I intend to stay here again should I ever be in the area in the future.

I look for inexpensive places to stay while out of town working. In my experience they take some getting used to. Not the case here. It was clean and comfortable with an accommodating. So as far as "budget motels", this is a nice place.

I have traveled to all 50 states and several other countries and this was the biggest dump I have ever stayed at. The mold/mildew/chemical smell was so bad, it affected the way you breathed. No one spoke English so it was challenge to ask a question. The only reason we actually stayed was the other motels in town were filled. The air conditioner froze and the temp. dropped to uncomfortably cold than it reversed itself and the place was too hot. During the night, the batteries went off in the fire alarm at 4 a.m.. Here's hoping they weren't violating the fire code regarding hard wired smoke alarms. Nice having to wake up to the smell. The bathroom was so small that a person could barely fit or turn around. It did have hot water. EVERYTHING was well past the due date. Now here is where Obitz should be ashamed of themselves. There listing said "In high demand" with only one room left. The motel was 80% UNOCCUPIED. Last time Obitz.

It will do in a pinch. The operators were accommodating. BUT my room was next to the laundry which seemed to run all night on Thursday. You could hear every bathroom running through the conduits of the pipes in the bathroom. The owner had to use three screwdrivers to open the drawer to get my belongings out. There wasn't even a bottle opener in the room. The only good thing was that you didn't need a password to use the WiFi. No restaurants within walking distance.

Our daughter goes to Gustavus and we were in town for parents weekend. Our first choice was booked so we were happy to get a room at the Viking Jr. After reading the previous reviews, I was a bit nervous to stay at the Viking Jr motel. With that being said, this is not meant to be a 3, 4, or 5 star hotel. It is a motel and it was clean and updated. The bathrooms were newly tiled with updated glass tile borders. The carpet and bedding was new. The room was clean with a refrigerator, microwave, and flat screen TV. There was a coffee maker, etc. The best part is it was half the price of the hotel down the road. If you just need somewhere to sleep without a fancy pool, etc. the Viking Jr will do just fine. There was a faint musty smell that I am attributing to the motel sitting right on a concrete slab. They did have air fresheners in the room. I suffer from mold allergies and I was just fine. Would I want to stay here for a week, probably not, but for a night or two it was just fine.
