Gorgeous hotel but no closets in the rooms or dressers - only tiny racks w three hangers. Breakfast is fabulous. We checked in for a mini honeymoon after we got married. The first night, our king suite on the 6th floor was unbearably hot w only a small AC unit that couldn’t cool the space. We were too exhausted from the wedding to change rooms so asked for a change the following morning. They upgraded us to the Chapel Suite which is INCREDIBLE. While changing rooms, we asked housekeeping to wait 10 minutes because we needed to make two trips - came back to find my wedding dress moved from the bed to the floor and the bed stripped. Who dumps a wedding dress on the floor? Later that evening a manager attempted to enter our Chapel Suite room unannounced. My husband answered the door in his underwear, he was so worried. The manager claimed there was a noise disturbance and that she knocked and announced herself - both lies. We were just watching TV. It was scary because the hotel is in a rougher part of downtown and we didn’t know who was trying to come in the room. We reported it to the front desk the following morning and they seemed unconcerned, just a brief “sorry”. I wish our experience matched how beautiful the hotel was, but it was not the relaxing retreat we hoped it would be - between the heat, no closets to hang my wedding dress or my husband’s suits, switching rooms (including lugging a wedding dress), and the attempted entry by the manager. Would definitely not stay here again or recommend. Back to the St Paul Hotel we go… :(…
The Celeste has great atmosphere, cool building and history. They are a very friendly staff. A Great downtown location. Good continental breakfast. We love this place! We have stayed here twice and will be back again!
Eight college friends gathered at Celeste for a weekend get-away and a chance to reconnect. We picked Celeste for it's central location as we came from various distances. We had an amazing time. LOVED the bar and their bites to eats. Sat on the patio. Walked the river walk. Took a tour with Sister Celestine. We Ubered our group to Saint Paul restaurants. Super easy. Breakfast (included) each morning was delicious and the coffee was "really fantastic"!! Ended the weekend by walking through the beautiful Mears Park and the Farmers Market full of flowers and veggies to take home with us. Celeste is truly the best place to stay in Saint Paul. I can't wait to go back. Thank you Celeste.
Great experience, phenomenal staff very clean and unique hotel. Great use of a historic building in downtown. It’s a must stay if you’re in downtown St Paul. Close to local attraction, baseball, farmers market, dining etc.
This place is a MUST stay! We booked multiple rooms for a family wedding weekend and EVERYONE RAVED about how much they loved The Celeste! It has everything you are looking for: BEAUTIFUL atmosphere; STYLISH and COMFORTABLE rooms; FUN bar for family gatherings; excellent SERVICE; prime LOCATION; easy-access PARKING, delicious BREAKFAST. The managers, Carl and Laura, definitely have the gift of hospitality, and they ensured we had a FANTASTIC experience!
