I would recommend staying at the Best Western for all your travel needs. The room was clean and provided all the things I needed for a extended period of time. The conference rooms were spacious and the water on the tables was a nice touch. Staff was very friendly and offered great dining and entertainment tips.

Hotel's Favorite
This BW is next door to the convention center and has beautiful views of the river. Easy walk to downtown and plenty of food choices around. Nice decor and friendly staff. Parking is next door at the restaurant that also serves breakfast for a fee. Limited breakfast options at hotel currently.

I stayed at The Best Western Kelly Inn located in St. Cloud, MN on 5/13/23. When I walked up to the counter to check in, the front desk worker didn’t even acknowledge my presence until I said that I was there to check in. She just said “name?” After a minute looking at my ID and looking at the computer, she went to the back and whispered something when who I can only assume a manager walked out with my reservation in hand. She put it on the counter and proceeded to lecture me for the next 10 minutes about booking a hotel that I’m local to. She was telling me how locals tend to create the most damage at the hotel. On my reservation it read, “last time she can stay here.” She had also mentioned that, “they all knew I was coming and were waiting for me.” To my surprise, she asked why I was staying there if I’m local. I told her I was there as a Mother’s Day gift to have some time alone. This was all while there were other guests next to and behind me. I was told they were making an “exception” for this stay but after this one I wouldn’t be allowed back. She told me she “spoke to her supervisor” who said placing a $150 hold on my credit card in case of damage was a non negotiable. I was very embarrassed. I felt like I had done something wrong and I wasn’t welcome. As a Platinum rewards member (or honestly even if I wasn’t) the whole interaction was unprofessional. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars supporting a “local” hotel - it is none of their business why I was there! This was the 4th or 5th time I’ve stayed at the Kelly Inn - I enjoy being close to home while attending virtual conferences that I watch from my room. I’ve NEVER been cornered and asked why I was there. I barely leave my room - I don’t use the pool, gym or even breakfast. I am probably the easiest guest you can imagine. I was appalled. By then she could tell I was upset and proceeded to ask me about my kids and tell me about her grandchildren to lighten the situation. She asked me what my plans were for the morning - again, surprised, I responded that I would probably order Door Dash for breakfast. Looking annoyed, she made sure to tell me about their “breakfast” that was available and that I should take advantage of it. I went up to my room and dropped off my stuff. I was upset and wanted to go for a walk down by the river. When I walked out of the elevator into the parking garage, the first front desk worker was sitting on the sidewalk and I could feel her staring st me the whole time, watching where I was going. It was VERY uncomfortable. Even if I was allowed to stay there again, I wouldn’t. I won’t ever step foot in that hotel after the way they made me feel. I also won’t refer my friends and family to stay there while they visit. I will also consider never staying at a BW anywhere we go.…

I stayed at the Best Western Kelly in last week for a 2 day work conference. The first night i checked in everything was pretty good. The beds for soft and comfortable and most the most part it was clerk except for some stay hairs in the shower. The second day i got ready to go to my conference and i put the DND on the door to make sure housekeeping did not come in. I used to be a Hotel Manager, so I know how hard housekeepers work and didn't want to add more work to their plate. At 4:30pm I came back to my room to change before dinner with my co- workers and my DND sign was still on the door. I left and came back from dinner at 9pm and noticed my DND sign was in the middle of my hotel room by the tv. I didn't think too much of it until I went into my fridge to grab my water and there was a huge bag of cheese, hummus, and veggies in it. I did not bring any food as the conference fed us breakfast, snacks, lunch, and we went out for dinner. Someone came into my room and put food in the fridge and then probably realized the room was occupied and left but forgot their food. I now started to panic as I was a girl all alone in this room in a big city. I called the front desk, and they asked me if I kept my door latched and I informed them that I do at night but not during the day as then I would never be able to get back into my room. He then asked me to come to the lobby desk and get new keys. By this time, I was in my pajamas and had to change into my regular clothes and walk across this huge hotel to get to the front desk. When I got to the front desk, I handed all the food that was in my fridge to the employee, and he made me new keys. Another employee came out and asked me if I had left my door open. I informed her that I was a hotel manager in Burnsville for years and I know how to make sure my door was locked. I said, "I know there could have been someone accidently checked into my room and that is ok, I just want to know the truth as I am here by myself, accidents happed" and all they said was "this situation is weird". I was hoping for an apology but never received one. They turned it on me as if I had done something to have some random people come into my room. I was not going to write a review as I know accidents happen, but they blamed it on me, never apologized, and no discount (which really, I just wanted an apology). If something like that would have happened to one of my guests at my hotel I would have ran up to their room with new keys, switched them rooms, gave them some sort of discount and have apologized over and over again. This was the worst hotel I have experienced as the customer service was not good. I usually only write positive reviews about places as I know accidents happen but since I did not receive an apology, I decided to write the review.…

I was pleased with the cleanliness of my hotel room. The attached restaurant was able to be accessed from the inside of the hotel and the food was excellent. The convention area was also clean and spacious to hold multiple seminars at one time. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The hotel was also easy to locate and had free parking accommodations.

We found a dirty sheet behind the entertainment center. This was reported and the sheet give to one of the janitor's. However, it seemed that this was just bushed off as if it was an every day occurrence. Is this the case? It does make one wonder if the room was actually cleaned. We also reported that one of the plug end sockets was not working correctly. We were not given any considerations or offered a different room for any of the above incidences (this was a little disheartening as it seemed that this was normal to staff and that it happens like this every day).

Location on the Mississippi River gives some great views out the window. The window faces East, but the darkening shades did a great job of allowing sleep in the morning. The hotel is connected to a Green Mill restaurant that you access by staying inside and walking down the hall.

The wait to check in was unacceptable, the cleanliness of the hotel in general was subpar. Room was outdated. Enjoyed waiting in the attached restaurant while waiting for our room to be ready. The guy at the front desk did a great job!

Good hotel with friendly staff but the restaurant is a failure. Nice dining atmosphere and nice furnishings but terrible meals. Burnt pizza, cold breakfasts and overpriced for the quality of good served. We’ve given the restaurant 3 chances and each has been a failure. The wait staff certainly tries. Perhaps the kitchen is short staffed or untrained. Good preparation certainly needs significant improvement. It is disappointing as the restaurant is under the same roof as the hotel and is thus conveniently located. No point in eating there though as you’ll likely be disappointed, based solely on our 3 tries and three misses.
