The St James Hotel was a good experience. I was traveling for a funeral so I was not looking for much other than a comfortable bed, warm shower. The room was clean and basic...no coffee maker, fridge etc. We were on the river side of the hotel and heard a few trains go by during the night.

This city and this hotel are like from an 18's american movie. Very nice place to stay. How the hotel is decorated very very cool. If you can make to red wing this is the place to stay and the view to river is just amazing.

I had eaten at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing before, but had never stayed there. My wife and I decided to get away for the night. We both enjoy historical things and I thought this was good place to go. The room was very nice, we did see some wallpaper that was peeling away, but that was minor....

One night getaway and once again the St. James staff knocked it out of the park. Katie, who also had made our reservation over the phone, met me at the front desk with our key cards. Extremely pleasant and professional. The bartender, whose name we cannot think of right now, in the basement bar is a human dynamo. She was...

Spent and overnight there last weekend with another couple. The hotel is spotless and charming, we walked along the walkway by the river, then on to Jommy's Pub, and then dinner at the Port. Every time I go there, I can't wait to go back. All rooms a delightful surprise, staff courteous and helpful, we had a wonderful stay!

Old riverboat landing that has been nicely updated without any loss of old school ambiance. the location is downtown close to a selection of restaurants. In addition there is a very good restaurant on site. In addition there is a breakfast place on site with a great view.

The St. James was a fun experience to have. The old time feel was great but I didn't like the old time "smell". The old wood smell that accompanies some antique furniture gets to me. That is the only negative thing I have to say. The bed was comfy and the room was cozy.

The St. James Hotel has many good things going for it: two restaurants, a bar, meeting rooms, bike rentals, retail shops, a convenient location in downtown Red Wing, and Victorian ambiance to name a few.  But almost all of these are available to the public. Room rates are high-priced for this area for what you get. We just paid almost $200...
