Detailed Reviews
We stayed one night at The River Nest during a recent weekend get-away. Our room was very comfortable and the view from the sitting area is amazing overlooking the river. This location is very convenient as its close to many wonderful nearby towns. The hosts Carol and Bill are very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed talking to them while also spending time with their dog Milo who loves belly rubs. We can't say enough about the tasty breakfast; the homemade scones were so good I requested the recipe.
Something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper... Highway 61 is right behind/up the hill from this B&B and the train tracks are just steps away facing the river. This is an active track and trains run quite frequently, though horns do not sound, the diesel engines have a rumble which is loud and they travel at a high rate of speed through this area. Both of us found it difficult to fall asleep as trains went through several times between 11:00pm -1:00am during our visit. Not sure if this schedule would be the same during other seasons. Bring ear plugs or they are provided in the room.

We stayed for 3 nights at the The River Nest B&B and really enjoyed it. From the Mississippi River views, eagle sightings, photo opportunities, and the full train experience we thought it was great. Our unit was clean, spacious, and very comfortable with a cozy bed and double sided fireplace, big com river view chairs inside and the great rear deck overlooking the river and tracks. Every morning we got a tray of coffee, tea, and a special starter snack just as a teaser to the soon-to-come terrific breakfast. Carol and Bill were great hosts making us feel very welcome and comfy. They keep a beautiful garden, B&B, and brand new cuddly family member, Milo. Highly recommended!

We stayed two nights while attending a blues festival in Wisconsin. Carol and Bill are very pleasant people. The food was fantastic, the rooms were comfortable, cozy and clean. The thing that brought it over the top was their dog "Milo". Please do not pass the River Nest B&B up if the presents of a dog turns you off. Milo is very well trained and would not have been noticed if not introduced by his owners. I am a dog fanatic and have never seen a better trained dog. But Milo is a lover and very approachable. I highly recommend this B&B.

River Nest B&B was the perfect place for us to stay while in the area. The suite was comfortable, and included a sitting area and jacuzzi tub, fire place, great bed, and amazing views of eagles! To top that off, the breakfast was over the top in terms of excellent cooking and far more than one could eat! Carol and Bill were terrific hosts. We would not hesitate to return here or to recommend their B&B to friends!

Beth and I frequent the area for entertainment (music shows, concerts, antiquing). We have used the River Nest B&B four times now and truly enjoy our experience every time. Bill and Carol are ALWAYS courteous, kind, friendly, helpful and serve the best breakfasts this side of the world. Not to mention their ability to be good conversationalists. Their dog, Milo, is truly the cherry on top. If you are a dog lover, as we are, Milo alone will make you make to come back .. for he is quite the lover. Unlike our dog, Milo is well trained and will not bother you unless you extend your friendship first. I would highly recommend the River Nest anyone anytime.

Wow! Amazing two night stay with the friendliest hosts (Bill & Carol), the most delicious breakfasts and beautiful view of the Mississippi River from your private sitting room! You can watch bald eagles and tundra swans from your room (or private deck when temps are warmer).

What a wonderful place! To sit in the parlor and watch the eagles fly over the Mississippi was exhilarating. The food was sumptuous and delicious. Bill and Carol visited with us as if we were longtime friends rather than just more guests. A true highlight of our traveling experience.

Very beautiful place. The food was wonderful. She even put candles on the Apple crisp. They were great hosts. They moved the table so we could watch the Vikings game. We spent the day in Wabasha and took a road trip into WI. Beautiful scenery. We highly recommend. Would love to go back.

We stayed at The River Nest for our anniversary trip and it was the first time we had ever stayed in a bed and breakfast. What a wonderful place it was. Carol and Bill were excellent hosts and they made us feel at home immediately. The suite we had was wonderful and it overlooked the Mississippi River at Reads Landing near Wabasha,MN. We could watch the eagles soaring and nesting from our windows. The train tracks were across the street so we got to watch trains and that was interesting as well. The room was decorated very comfortably and included a large bathroom, bedroom, fireplace, jacuzzi, porch and deck. Carol's food was fantastic and you do not need lunch after the huge tasty breakfast. We really felt at home there. I am sure we will return again. We would highly recommend this gem of a B and B.

Bill and Carol are a lovely couple and know what true hospitality means..... We spent one night and needed to be up early the next morning. They were very flexible to our specific needs. The jacuzzi is excellent, a fireplace sits right next to it. The train was loud, yet we were not bothered by the many that passed as we slept. Ear plugs are provided. We enjoyed Wabasha, the town next to Reeds Landing- the Dunn's even had coupons for the shops/restaurants in the town....
The breakfast is delicious, four courses and delightfully presented...... We hope to come again!
