We stayed for 3 nights at the The River Nest B&B and really enjoyed it. From the Mississippi River views, eagle sightings, photo opportunities, and the full train experience we thought it was great. Our unit was clean, spacious, and very comfortable with a cozy bed and double sided fireplace, big com river view chairs inside and the great rear deck overlooking the river and tracks. Every morning we got a tray of coffee, tea, and a special starter snack just as a teaser to the soon-to-come terrific breakfast. Carol and Bill were great hosts making us feel very welcome and comfy. They keep a beautiful garden, B&B, and brand new cuddly family member, Milo. Highly recommended!
This was our second time there and equally enjoyable the second time. I actually enjoy the sound of the train which is literally right outside the window. The food is second to none and the hospitality of Bill and Carol just makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Thank you for another wonderful stay. Mark and Julie Sobania
We stayed for 4 nights at The River Nest B&B and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had the upstairs suite, which is spacious and has a wonderful balcony overlooking the river where we enjoyed sitting to read, listen to the birds and watch the trains going by. Everything is spotlessly clean! Each day started with a tray delivered to our room with coffee and fresh baked treats. Breakfast included a great variety of fresh fruit, followed by a main egg/meat dish and then dessert (crepes, warm apple crisp, Swedish cream with fresh raspberries) - yum! Carol and Bill are very friendly and gracious hosts who have many ideas of places to visit during your stay. We felt very pampered and well cared for each day. We would definitely recommend this B&B!
The River’s Nest is a must stay!!! The accommodations and hosts are amazing! Carol and Bill become family as you build a relationship over all the delicious food Carol prepares. The hot tub and view of the Mississippi River were so wonderful. We saw 21 eagles and went to 3 local museums. This stop on our trip was great! Check it out!!
Nothing posh or fancy here, this is not your five star hotel, but this is a mom and pop business done well. Although the B&B is literally right next to a busy rail track, the windows and walls are well soundproofed. I slept like a log the 3 nights I stayed. The downstairs room has a private entrance and parking area, plus a private patio with table and chairs. When sitting outside, the roar of the passing trains was impressive. I did get to where I enjoyed watching the trains. Breakfasts were nothing to write home about.... basic quiches, cold bread. I did enjoy the fresh fruit selection, and the owners catered to my desire for decaf coffee in the mornings and hot water for tea in the evenings. The jacuzzi tub was wonderful. I’d stay again if I was in the area.
