The Cantilever Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham, garners high praise for its cleanliness, with spaces that are not only well-maintained but also boast charming local decor. Guests have lauded the clean and spacious rooms, often complimenting the thoughtful amenities and decor. While the service is generally celebrated for its attentiveness and warmth, there has been an isolated mention of rudeness.
The hotel's atmosphere is noted for its uniqueness and elegance, complete with live music and hospitable service, although a noisy event did cause some disturbance. The hotel's amenities, including a distillery, spa, yoga studio, and a rooftop hot tub with lake views, are consistently applauded. However, opinions on value are divided, with some guests citing noise issues and variations in service quality.

I definitely recommend this hotel. It is very unique with great attention to details. They have a restaurant, bar, distillery, coffee, snacks and gifts all on-site. Spa services are available on the 3rd floor, by appointment. They also offer yoga on Sunday morning. The beds are very comfortable. The room feels spacious with high ceilings. The bathroom has a claw foot tub, shower above and Molton Brown bath products. We didn’t make a dining reservation in advance, as we were not certain on our arrival time. The gentleman checking us in was able to fit us in for 6:00 pm. It was greatly appreciated! Everything is very tidy and clean. There is also a hot tub, chairs on the third floor outdoor deck. Additionally, space for games or visiting on the 2nd floor. Coffee is available complimentary in the lobby for guests from 6 to 12, as there are no in room coffee pots. Our room also had a small fridge. This is a great place.

This boutique hotel is a must visit if your in the Rainer area. The hotel staff are engaging and attentive(just as you’d expect in a small town). The food menu is above average and is evolving. The quality of the food is excellent! The on site distillery is a wonderful addition to the cocktail room. The unique drink menu adds a special touch to an evening out, The rooms are very clean and have a nice touch with local pictures, railway spike coat hangers and with a claw foot bath tub. There is also a yoga studio, sauna and outdoor hot tub on the second floor that has a view of the lake.

Not generally the 'drop a review' type, but this gem of a spot earned some words. Close friends booked the whole place for a private boutique wedding event. Friday evening the grooms dinner was hosted in the distillery room for a totally unique dining experience. Our room was crispy clean, had super comfy beds, and the bathroom had subtle hints of old-timey luxury with a claw-foot tub, imported soaps and washes, and fully tiled walls. We were in room 302 facing Rainy Lake and had a great view. l would highly recommend rooms 301-304 for this same experience and a better view of Rainy Lake and Canada. The upper level also provides quick access to the rooftop seating area, workout/ yoga room, and sauna. If you're still reading pull the pin and grab a room now. I guarantee you'll be as impressed with the quaint town, outstanding accommodations, superb staff, and award winning spirits as I was. Bonus: I live in Duluth, MN so this was a beautiful fall drive.

We stayed for one night as we traveled throughout the area. We started with a late lunch and got checked in to the room. Our lunch was delicious. The restaurant was very busy and seemed slightly understaffed, but everyone hustled and was very polite. The room was extremely neat and clean. the clawfoot tub was striking and gave an immediate classy feel. The soaps, shampoos, lotion, etc. in the bathroom were delightful. We cam back later that evening, enjoyed a beer at the local brew pub across the street and went straight to bed. The beds were very comfortable, the blackout curtains closed fully and allowed us to sleep in the following morning. Before we left we grabbed another delicious lunch with great, friendly service. This hotel doesn't have any type of free, continental breakfast - but does have a small coffee table at the front desk, and breakfast sandwiches/juices for sale. I highly recommend this hotel if you're in the area. It could not have been any better.

What a great surprise! I didn’t realize that the hotel was on top of a custom distillery, and at first wondered if we had the right place. The ground floor includes the distillery, tasting room and restaurant. The second and third floors have spacious well appointed rooms. Our bathroom had a soaking tub. The third floor has a rooftop patio with views of the lake and a large hot tub and sauna ( both scrupulously clean and working well). There is also a yoga/dance studio on th third floor for guest use. I would definitely stay again.

My husband and I just needed a few days' get away and since neither of us had been to the International Falls area, we landed in nearby Ranier and stayed at the Cantilever. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the service was great and the room was beautifully done and very comfortable. The decor is a desirable industrial-chic, was impeccably clean and the beds were very comfortable. If you're not a sound sleeper, the building is next to train tracks so the trains going by may be disturbing. Also, the room doors are heavy and very loud when closed. The atmosphere at the Cantilever is one of fun and celebration, so the noises are buffered by a sense of tolerance. There is a distillery on site but we don't drink, so we didn't spend any time on that aspect. There is also a hot tub up on the third floor patio that was very popular. The restaurant food was excellent!! so definitely have a meal or two there. They do not serve breakfast and we ended up taking the bridge into Canada to find a restaurant that served variety. We didn't mind, as we had intended on spending some time in Fort Francis anyway. (Remember to bring your passports). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and the cute little town of Ranier, with International Falls nearby. We highly recommend the Cantilever for anyone.

Cute local hotel near the water! The hotel is truly right on the railroad tracks and seems to be the holding area before crossing the border at times so lots of squeaking and noise. They do however provide earplugs which really helped. The restaurant had some fun options for adults, but no kids menu. We ended up getting an adult Mac and cheese after some back and forth with the server who talked with someone else and found out they could off menu make some options for kids. Unsure if the staff just wasn’t aware, but we cancelled our reservations at the restaurant for the remaining nights we were in town. The rooftop bar was really fun and the views beautiful!

Best hotel ever! we absolutely love this hotel! Our son is going to college in international Falls, Minnesota, and we make sure to stay at the cantilever whenever we come to visit! The hotel is just amazing! The atmosphere is so warm and fun, all of the staff go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be. We have stayed here about four times over the last year and even though they see hundreds of people they always remember us! Highly recommend this hotel!

Modern, cool building with lots of visual appeal. Clean rooms, great TV and internet, awesome bathroom with better than usual soaps, shampoos and lotions. Very cool items in the gift shop and the bourbon made on-site is pretty good. Waitstaff in the restaurant was very good. Young bartender the second night of our stay was good.
The negatives: Very scratchy towels. Front desk doubles as the gift shop cashier and is a bottleneck. Waited in line 10+ minutes twice. Rooms were assigned prior to arrival. Even though the rooms on the front were open when we arrived, were told they were holding them for other guests. Menu of both drinks and food is full of wonderful sounding fare, but ribs were very dry and drinks the first night tasted like there had been ice in them that melted. Everything in the gift shop and on the restaurant menu costs about 2x what it's worth. The train that runs behind the building at night can wake you up if you don't wear the provided earplugs.
Overall, an average stay for a lot of money.

The Cantilver Hotel was a very pleasant place to stay while we were visiting Voyaguers National Park.Although the restaurant and bar were closed on Labor Day (when we arrived) we had a very delicious dinner there the following evening. The cocktails (made with the spirts distilled on site) were very good. Staff was down due to the holiday, but the employee who checked us in (Denise) was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We really loved sitting on the rooftop patio, enjoying a late afternoon drink. The restaurant did not serve breakfast, but the front desk offered coffee drinks and snacks like muffins, pastries and yogurt for a slight charge. There was also complimentary coffee available. Thee hotel is located in a very quaint little town close to the lake, that also had a ice cream shop, a little restaurant and a bar. Would definitely recommend staying there if you are in the area.
