This is a special, wonderful B&B. The rooms are all different, and all beautiful with elegant antique furnishings and many thoughtful touches. The common spaces are pretty and comfortable, with extras like a magnificent glass-front cabinet with a great collection of DVDs to watch in your room. Wifi is excellent. The breakfasts are generous and absolutely delicious, and Pamela responds easily to issues or dietary preferences. There are all sorts of small treats and comforts - tea and coffee, chocolates, salty snacks, wine, beer, sherry, not to mention the homemade chocolate chip cookies! The host has great recommendations and is warm and friendly, or quiet and professional, in response to guest preference. Luxury mattresses in beautiful antique frames, everything spotlessly clean.

Pamela once again did a marvelous job in covering all the bases for a first rate stay in her bed and breakfast! We have stayed several times, all in the summer suite room, and the room's size, fireplace and whirlpool tub are all a perfect fit for a nice romantic night. On top of that her new bed(s) are idyllic! I wouldn't go any other place!

My co-workers gave my me and my husband a two-night stay at this beautiful B&B (Sunday and Monday night). It's located within walking distance from downtown Northfield which was helpful to us since we rode motorcycles and planned daytrips around the area. Pamela was incredible. She has put her heart and soul into this business - which feels more like a home. She seemed to have thought of every single detail of our stay, from the homemade chocolate chip cookie jar to the variety of cold (and warm) beverage options to the quiet sitting areas and front porch. It was decorated beautifully and the our stay in the Summer suite was peaceful, spacious, and restful. Breakfast was such a treat, and again, so much attention to each and every detail from food to the room to her service and conversation. Pamela was such a comfort to us and at the time we didn't realize how important this trip would be to us as a couple as we experienced some health problems later in the summer. We look back at our stay with such peace and serenity, and are grateful to have met her (and her companion). I would highly recommend this beautiful space!

Each year, my husband and I stay at a B & B for our anniversary. The Magic Door was the 10th B & B we have visited, and is now one of our favorites! Everything was top notch, the food was wonderful, and the owner made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Fresh baked cookies, water, coffee, tea, wine, and snacks are always available. Awesome location for walking to shopping, the River Walk, and restaurants. We fell in love with Northfield and the Magic Door!

We biked the Cannonn Valley Trail and could nolt find a room in Cannon Falls or Red Wing, so looked into Northfield. What a nice "find"! The location is close to the trail so that was not an issue. The town is wonderful. We found the dining options to be very good from high end to bar and grill. We ate at the Froggy Bottoms outdoor patio. Excellent service and scenery. Pamela (owner of the Magic Door) is a fun person. We liked her attitude towards the whole B n B thing. She really cares that you are well taken care of. House amenities very good (wine, cheese, crackers, grapes, water, soda all provided complimentary). Front porch good to finish off the evening watching the fire flies dance. The front street can get somewhat busy a few times during the day, but we did not find it bothersome at all.
