The Viking Car was very nice inside. The outside wasn't at the same standard as the other cars with some chipping paint and a section of missing handrail.. It was too warm out to use the sauna. This was listed as an accessible unit with a ramp to the door. The grab bars by the toilet were helpful. There are grab bars in the whirlpool. It still might be challenging to get over the tall edge of the tub for someone in a wheelchair. A large showerhead is available if you choose not to use the tub. Instead of cable TV, the host has provided a collection of dvd's and player to use. I was able to get it playing but could not determine how to get the sound working. I did find a way to add subtitles, so I was able to follow the action. The train car contains several unique features along with the sauna. Visitors can sit in suitcase chairs. Half of the suitcase was converted into a seat and 1/2 serves as the back. I liked the bathroom night light which was a railroad style light. The host has provided almost everything a guest might need. There is an umbrella if you need to walk out in the rain. Wine glasses and a corkscrew are provided if you want to celebrate with a bottle of wine. Since Covid, the host now brings out breakfast to the car If the weather is nice, there is a small outdoor porch at the front of the train car. Bring earplugs. An active rail line runs about 50 feet from the property. Trains come through with horns blaring all night.

I think I need to put a note re: exiting and entering the tub. The tile layer said people are to sit on the edge, hold the grab bar and turn...either in or out .He said people would know, you are not the first one to mention it, so a note it is..... We live on a lake and appreciate the quiet. We experienced the same thing at the Whistle Stop B&B! Yes, full disclosure - we heard trains at night and that brought back memories as both my wife and I support the rail industry. Was it loud and annoying - no. It was the icing on the cake. We stayed in the Imperial Car and when entering the driveway we knew we were in for a treat, The outside of the area is clean and maintenance (repainting) is underway. As we walked into our car, we were greeted with music playing that set the atmosphere. My wife and I explored the car and decorations with a smile, head nodding in satisfaction, and constant chatter back and forth at the discovery of something unique. We changed our dinner plans (a restaurant) and went to the grocery store for pulled pork and dessert as we wanted to stay on-board to experience the experience. Our dining was on the observation platform on the tail end of the car. The hot tub was relaxing, the bed comfortable and inviting, and evening went too fast. I stole away to the the local bakery for small donuts knowing breakfast would be coming. The breakfast was delivered to our car by Karen and was hot and delicious. We had a delightful chat with Karen before we left and look forward returning again. YES, we highly recommend Whistle Stop as this was a B & B that is worth the trip. Well worth the experience!

The work that was put into every last detail in the restoration and decoration of the Viking Train Car was beyond belief! It was fascinating to imagine all that had had taken place within those walls prior to our occupation of that space. The sauna and giant whirlpool tub were luxurious amenities that we thoroughly enjoyed. The bed was comfortable and the coffee bar in the room had everything I needed for my morning cup o’ joe. Breakfast arrived at the time promised, and though we didn’t choose the fare, it was delicious and had large portions - too much for me to eat it all! It was a charming, unique and romantic setting to celebrate our 28th anniversary. I highly recommend!

My stay here was delightful. The Palace Car was decorated beautifully with vintage and train-themed decor, and the hospitality was great down to the details. It was fun to hear trains going past as well. I was lucky to get there before the COVID-19 state shutdown.

We really enjoyed our one night stay in the Viking car. This vintage railroad car full of amenities made this a fun get away. Also near a real train track where you hear the actual train whistle through out the stay.The breakfast was superior as well. We recommend this for any couple that wants to have a relaxed night away from everyday routine.

This place was fantastic and the food was even better. We stayed 2 nights in the Imperial. It was nice to have more space than a typical hotel. There was the bathroom, hot tub, bedroom area, table for eating or games, a sitting/living room area, and a couple of chairs in front on the fireplace. We will be back to try the other cars. The train did go by but was not as loud as I had read in some reviews. I loved being able to hear the train. Really added to the atmosphere.

We stayed in the Imperial car and it was wonderful. We walked in to lights on, soft music playing, fireplace lit, personalized letter. The attention to details was amazing. We’d hear the for real train blowing its whistle as it went by that just added to the experience. Some say the train going by all night is bothersome but we didn’t mind. The double whirlpool was so nice. All the furniture and vintage items for decor was right up our alley. The breakfast was tasty. We hope to come again to experience another car. Jann (the owner) was a gem and took time to talk to us about renovations, we are renovating our old house and swapped stories and ideas! It was a surprise 70th birthday gift for my husband. We both enjoyed it tremendously!

Surprised my wife with a night here for her birthday! Boy did I pick out a winner! This place is excellent, the train car is fix up so you feel like the owner of the railroad and you have a private car. Details were wonderful, old pictures, wash basins, and furniture. The breakfast was delivered to you in the morning and was delicious! What a unique experience! Can’t wait to stay again and try the other car.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe this B&B. From the mood created being met with music as you enter, to the craftsmanship of each environment (our car has it's own character) - everything has been well thought out to create a cacoon of peace & tranquility. It really sounds too good to be true, but the Whistle Stop has done a spectacular job making this THE place to stay & celebrate. The breakfasts provided will blow your mind & it isn't exotic food you wouldn't want to try either. I'd recommend staying at least 2 days just to soak in all the details of the car.My wife talked me into coming here to celebrate our 30 wedding anniversary & I'm so very glad she did. The Whistle Stop was created with much love & you can just feel it. We will be going back.

I took my two sister's on a Mystery Trip and it was AMAZING! I secured the Palace Train car and from the moment we drove up to the Whistle Stop B&B we were amazed! The train car was brought back to its glory days in vintage style. There was soft music playing as we entered and fireplaces going. Breakfast was brought to us each morning and it was deliciously served on different sets of dishes each morning. We are already planning our return trips! We want to stay in the other train cars, caboose, Alaskan Train Station and the Victorian house...Thank you for such a wonderful time!

The Imperial Car has 2 recliners that sit facing the fireplace. They have slip covers on them so you just have to uncover that foot part to make the chairs slide back in to the recline position. Wing back recliners.
There are more places to choose from in the New York Mills area.
