A truly boutique hotel, Alma welcomes all guests with authentic hospitality and diverse, contemporary American cooking. We offer a seven beautiful, comfortable rooms worthy of both celebrations and everyday visits.
Other reviews have already said what is so special about this place but I have to say it again. It's both elegant and cozy at the same time. It's not the huge modern look that so many hotels have these days, it's adorable and unique. The rooms have a simple design but such attention to detail in terms of comfort. It's in a great location (not being downtown, I felt completely safe as a solo traveller). The pastries from downstairs that you can have brought to your room each morning are so delicious. There aren't people working here at night so it has the feel of an AirBnB that way, except that it's much nicer than any I've ever stayed in. I loved Hotel Alma so much, not only would I come back again, but also I'm just a tiny bit upset that they didn't invite me to live here forever, lol!…

We stayed here for our anniversary and had an amazing time at the restaurant and enjoyed the amenities of our room… except for the shower! It barely tricked out water and barely got hot. I expected much more out of a hotel this caliber. Disappointed.

My wife and I stayed one night and the room was really clean and nicely decorated. The shampoo, soaps were great. We loved the essential oils that were in a little bag on the bed, that was a nice surprise. The room had really tall ceilings and a nice bathroom. Did I mention the great breakfast and coffee. This is where I'm sending all my out of town friends from now on.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Uptown Minneapolis and close to several downtown attractions and the three beautiful lakes of the city. Rooms are beautifully designed with a boho feel (which is pretty unique!!). They have paid attention to every small detail and bathroom is really amazing with Bespoke Body & Wellness bath products. Hotel uses minimal plastic and all decor and amenities are environment friendly. Breakfast tray delivered every morning has the best pastries (amazing perk!!). Restaurant and cafe downstairs have amazing food and beverages and is a busy sight all day long. They have thoughtfully curated menu for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hotel staff, specially Todd Kohn who managed my reservation, is very helpful and accommodating. You may find the place a little on the expensive side but it is totally worth every dollar spent. I will definitely visit again.…

We absolutely loved this secret hotel tucked into a wonderful bar/cafe/restaurant in a cool location near the river. The beautiful and spacious Room 5, which comes with its own private deck (with dining table and chairs, string lights and a hammock), easily accommodated three of us. The huge, light-filled and beautifully-decorated room had very high ceilings and gorgeous large windows and was beautifully decorated. It had a king size bed and a couch that was made up into a comfortable second bed. The bathroom was equally huge with a great rain shower and lots of light from frosted privacy windows. Friendly, helpful staff and a terrific restaurant added to the charm. Best of all, a fantastic breakfast of juices, great coffee and either (wonderful) pastries or (really delicious) fresh bread and butter were delivered each morning on a tray left outside our room, which we enjoyed on the deck. Sometimes we added something extra, like yogurt with nuts and berries and almond cream for a few extra dollars. The room a very good value for the three of us, especially considering the generous breakfast that came with it. We miss our fantastic breakfasts and will return soon (to Room 5 of course).…

We loved the look of our room at the Alma. It was beautiful with a gorgeous bathroom as well and lovely bath products. We had some problems though in that our room was extremely noisy (we were in room 7 on the main floor) and our air conditioner was broken on a hot evening. Sadly these things didn't make for a restful night Hopefully these things can be addressed as otherwise it's a nice place with a great restaurant and a good continental breakfast included.

We stayed here to be close to downtown without actually staying there. We enjoyed easy walking distance to the restaurants along the river and to US Bank stadium. Having a breakfast tray delivered every morning was a nice perk. The bathrooms are lovely as are the products provided. There is some noise from the cafe below, but it didn’t bother us much. Would definitely stay here again.

We were in the area to visit our daughter and attend a concert. After being referred to this property, I decided to give it a try. It is a small inn, with only around 10 rooms. I loved the whole vibe of the hotel with a restaurant/cafe on the first floor. There i a very hipster vibe about the place, but everyone we encountered we're very friendly and helpful. The cafe has the most amazing pastries and the barista made the most artful looking espresso beverages! The only downside would be the noise level from both the street and the cafe. It can be a bit loud on certain nights. Once the midnight hour hits, it got very quiet. The inn does provide earplugs if needed, but we seemed to be fine without them. I definitely plan on staying here the next time we are in the area!

Resided in Room #7...I Love this Hotel and Café! Located in the city, the neighborhood is quiet. The hotel is nicely appointed with amenities (especially enjoyed the Bespoke Body & Wellness bath products!). Being on the first floor and close to the Cafe, you wake up to the smell of something Wonderful baking in their kitchen. The breakfast (included in the cost of the room) is Divine!!! You can have it sent to your room or eat in the Café. I highly recommend their selected pastries, especially the Blueberry Danish. The décor is modern, and spacious (for one). And the bed and pillows were comfortable. Enjoyed dining in the Café; the food and servers are great! Similar to the room, the décor is modern, yet comfortable. The staff is personable; even had a wonderful conversation with Todd, the Innkeeper. The location is convenient; in walking distance to Father Hennepin Bluff Park and the Stone Arch Bridge, which takes you into Downtown East Minneapolis. The walking bridge provides awesome sights of the Saint Anthony Falls and Mississippi River. Would definitely stay at Hotel Alma again for its value and numerous amenities! …

We arrived at the Alma Hotel on April 4th, two days before the start of the Final Four, 2019. The conversion of 528 University from a fire house to a hotel is inspired. Our room, # 5, is spacious and offers an outdoor deck. Todd and Jen, together with a welcoming and accommodating staff offered great conversation and attention to detail. We walked to Nicolette Island and across the Stone Arch bridge to various functions related to basketball events. However, we had the best of both breakfast and dinner fare at the cafe and restaurant. Michael tended to us for dinner and his service matched the 5 ***** menu. This gem of a hotel might be described as a bit “out of the way”. Take that with a grain of sea salt if you enjoy biking, running or walking. Proximity to UM lends a college vibe to the stay in the most positive way.…
