Booked a couple nights for a friend's birthday and was surprisingly disappointed and underwhelmed. This is due to the fact that the weather outside was over 90 degrees and our air conditioner wouldn't budge a degree lower than what it was initially programmed at 72. When I called the front desk to ask about the AC, the employee was flustered and actually hung up on me! 5-10 minutes later, head of security knocked on our door and asked if we wanted to move to another room or have a fan. Since we were out all day, were hoping for a cool room to come back to, and weren't back into our room until midnight, we decided it was too late to move and took the fan. He promised the engineers would look at it the next day, but nothing was done and no message asking us if we wanted to switch the next night. It also lacked simple details you expect at a hotel—yet alone a very very nice hotel. For example, we were informed housekeeping would not be in our room during our stay. Yet there were only two sets of towels for a two bed room for two nights. There was also no guide telling us how to dial for the front desk, only two water glasses, no paper pad and pen. The pool was supposed to be open til midnight, but when we inquired about going up at 11:30, security told us it was too late to go. When we pressed again, they said that our room keys wouldn't work for pool access, so we would have to go up to our room to change, then go back down to the first floor to find someone to let us up to the rooftop where the pool was. The alarm/speaker also required an old USB cord, which we didn't have. Oh, and a visit to the rooftop bar was as hot as the weather outside—the AC was lacking and we were so sweaty we paid for our drinks and left with them to find a cooler location. The poor rating is for the accommodations at the price we paid for our room. Will definitely think twice before booking again... actually, I'll be looking elsewhere first.…
The hotel itself was nice, the service and demeanor of the staff was terrible. I would not recommend. Despite the nice amenities and the food being good, the attitude of the staff ruined our stay. We felt as if we should be honored to stay there...when we are the ones paying to be there.
I was so excited to book a night away after baby with my husband. I thought the hewing was a high class hotel, but I was wrong. If you are looking for a romantic night away and you are over 21.. look elsewhere. The Staff was incredibly rude to us and 2other couples we were with.
Terrific hotel for those looking to enjoy the city. Quiet, comfortable and very well located. The lobby bar was bustling both evenings. Rooftop bar opens at 5 but you can still enjoy the pool/spa on the roof before that. Will definitely stay here again. Oh and no masks required at any point.
We stayed at the Hewing to celebrate a milestone birthday. We wanted a cozy and intimate stay, and the hotel delivered. Timely and tasty room service. Comfortable bed and room. It’s a tricky time re-opening to biz as usual post covid, but we enjoyed ourselves. The location is great, with restaurants, shops and sights nearby. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I’m picky it’s star ratings, and a 4* from me is excellent. The hotel open space is airy and comfortable. We will be back!
