We booked the Foshay for its proximity to the Minneapolis convention center, arriving on a Friday evening, competitions Saturday and Sunday, leaving Sunday afternoon. We were expecting a high quality experience with room service and minibar available, as well as the other conveniences of lobby dining, market for forgotten items, etc. There are two bars and a steakhouse/bar in this hotel - none of them offer low key dining options or even coffee in the morning. The tone for our stay was set by the valet who watched us struggle through the door with an oversized bag and didn’t lift a finger to hold it open. I had already checked in on the app and just needed to pick up a key/take care of a credit card. I was told I was not checked in, then given double queens rather than a junior suite. Need advil or a cold bottle of water? Walk to the mall or Target, because it’s not available here. This is an historic building, utterly cheapened by black carpet, pink wash lighting everywhere and TJ Maxx decor. I can recover from the decor and even the service, but the unavailability of food and coffee is a deal breaker. Because this hotel is in the “business district” many things are closed on the weekend. After trying for food on site - including the “whatever whenever” service, we went with grub hub - that order was delivered to the lobby and mysteriously disappeared. We ended up with Dominos (I literally waited at the curb with the smokers that time) at 9:30 at night with a 6:00 start for competition the next morning. We started in the morning again with no place to grab food and an in room Nespresso with no pods. I will say that the rooms are quiet. But other than that, this is a bar, not a hotel.

Very nice stay at the W. Really cool old building that has been updated to a hip vibe inside. Loved the old elevators, they change the floor mats out several times a day so when you get in in the morning they say "Good Morning" then change throughout the day. Good size room for a building that old historic. Best part is the top floor bar "Prohibition" well worth a visit!

Thank you W Mineapolis to upgrade our the room to the corner room. Huge bathroom btw. It was a very nice stay for my first time traveling to Mineapolis. Complimentary breakfast was very efficent and delivered to room on time. Front desk staff were very lovely with great smile. They helped us booked for the steakhouse on site called Manny's. Great food! We are light eaters and ordered a porterhouse with 2 sides. It was more than enough food. Then, the dessert in the house was amazing. Wish we left some roon for that. We asked for house keeping and it was done in a good manner. Remember to visit the rooftop of the Foshay building for the history and the panoramic view of the whole city. W Mineapolis did everything right!

Dilapidated facilitiy. The circuit breaker in my room kept going off every time I opened the closet door, occuring 7 times over the course of 2 nights. The first time this happened, the hotel engineer showed me how to reset the circuit breaker. No big deal. However, this continually occured throughout my stay. When I called to complain, I was assured that a manager would followup with this issue and provide a form of compensation for the issues. It's been 5 days since this occured and I still have not heard back from the hotel regarding this. There was also water damage on the ceiling of my room.

michaelcp222, thank you for taking the time to share your recent stay feedback. Our team has reached out directly to follow up on your stay. As a historical property, after renovating fully in 2020 to comply with fire life safety protections and allow some of the original building to comply with the new aspects all of our guestroom outlets were required to have surge protectors on them. While these are commonly seen in bathrooms, the additional application in the guest room outlets does require some strategic choices when utilizing the plugs. I am so sorry to hear this was a continued problem during your stay and I have reached out to you directly to ensure you saw our property follow-up. We appreciate your loyalty as a Marriott Bonvoy Elite guest and hope we are able to welcome you back soon!

The staff at the W Hotel at the Foshay tower is outstanding, in particular, David, who went above and beyond for us late at night. He wouldn’t even accept the tip we offered him. Impressive! I look forward to staying with the W and their incredible staff again soon!

My son and I stayed here for 6 nights 7/2-7/8 for a national fencing tournament at the convention center. Agatha at the front desk was stellar. She was welcoming and could not have been more helpful. Also, Adam in the Living Room bar (lobby bar) was very good too. He knew my drink, remembered my name and was good with conversation. All the staff we met were really friendly and helpful. W does a great job with interior design and this hotel is the perfect mix of original Art Deco design and modern interior. Common areas are sleek, and lighting is interesting. I did not like the lack of good lighting in the elevator, as I always had to use my phone to light up the floor numbers. We stayed on the 16th floor in a 2-queen room. The room was very clean, small, and there is minimal storage, Beds and linens are comfortable. If you are staying for more than a couple days and want to unpack, there is only a small, 2 drawer unit that does not hold much. The bathroom is large and well appointed, and the bath products smell amazing. My issue is the rain shower mounted overhead, rather than a wall mounted shower head. As a woman who does not wash her hair every day, I struggled to keep my hair dry and had to do the in and out dance as the water fell from above. My son did not like it either. This type of shower is not as satisfying as a wall mounted shower head that blasts you. I also wish that the room had a regular coffee maker rather than an espresso machine. with tiny cups. There is free coffee in the lobby, but who wants to go down 16 floors for a cup of coffee, and have to return to your room? There is a diner called Keys, attached to the hotel that is really good for breakfast and lunch. The observation deck at the top of the building is great too. I had drinks with friends in the lobby bar, the Living Room, and we all enjoyed the cool, comfortable space and good service. Interestingly enough, we got to watch a pimp with 2 ladies of the evening do business with a man sitting at the bar. This very intoxicated, elderly man left arm in arm with 2 young, scantily clad 'ladies'. No one who worked there seemed at all concerned, or for that matter surprised. Overall, I liked this hotel, I liked the staff, but the room fell a little short for me on size, functionality and that silly rain shower.

Great building…come for the observatory. Do not stay. We ordered Room service… we were charged a BIG room service fee equivalent. We called to check how much of the fee goes to the person who brings up the food to us…and they said NONE. That server gets zero bucks. So wait, you’re a HUGE hotel chain (W is owned by MARRIOTT) and you decide to pay your server ZERO for bringing the food up? Wow. A portion of that should go to your servers. If I worked there I would quit. The restaurants and bar are also closed most of the time. We tried to go several times and they were closed. How convenient for a 24/7 hotel…so much for Whenever Wherever.

Stayed here for a conference. It is about 5 blocks from the conference center and an easy walk. Prices varied greatly depending on when you looked. We booked about a month in advance. A few days later the price had doubled. Staff were nice at check in. Didn't get room cleaned the first day. Was told they were short staffed. There are two bars including one on the 27th floor. There is also a Foshay Tower exhibit on the top floor. Great views. Probably won't stay here again. But do go to Manny's Steakhouse on the ground floor!

Crummy. Dark, dreary lobby. Front desk person on arrival had the affect and personality of a stone. No welcome, no smile, perfunctory, passive aggressive. The shower water pressure is so weak that it took almost ten minutes for hot water to arrive. Morning and evening x 3. And by the time it reached me, had a diameter of about 3 inches. Room was also dark. Brown curtains, black/ochre carpeting, brown bed headboard. Bedside lamps flickered. Arrived back at hotel around 3:15 pm. Bed was unmade, bath not cleaned, towels unchanged. I went to front desk and asked if room could be made up. Stern response: “We don’t do that. You have to ask.” Me” OK coikd someone come clean and make up our room?” “You want someone to come clean your room?” “Yes please.” “I’ll see what I can do.” 2 for 2 with two different front desk staff. And like many “hip” hotels, no towel racks in bath room to hang towels to dry. Don’t understand why that’s “cool.” Although perhaps many of the substance influenced users of these places don’t bathe. At least the mirror was on the wall, not leaning against it. Breakfast in a 3rd Party owned luncheonette located down a dark corridor inside hotel. Dreary and mediocre. Not easy to cook oatmeal badly, congratulations on achieving sawdust texture. Good steakhouse for dinner, nice high floor bar were the only two positives but you can visit them from a other hotel.

I stay in a larger King room. The room seemed large for a W room; most W rooms are tiny. The room was clean. The bed wasn't very comfortable though. The towels were quite thick. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. The hotel is in a good location. Very walkable.
