This is a nice little place to stay. I got a good rate and it is right on the apex of the Cascade State Park. The only drawback is I got no cell service at all- I was however able to get Internet most of the time.

Hello souldancer2, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. Since we are surrounded by a state park and Lake Superior, cell phone reception can be very spotty. Most of our guests set up Wi-Fi calling on their cell phones by connecting via our wi-fi network. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

We spent a very pleasurable the weekend in the main Cascade Lodge -- not one of the cabins. Everything very clean and neat. Great linens. Helpful staff. Windows that open for lovely fresh air off the Lake. Nice that the restaurant was next door. Even though they were booked up, it was quiet. Birdsong in the mornings.

We spent three nights/two full days at Cascade. The first night was in a tiny cabin just large enough for the queen size bed and a small table; the second and third nights we stayed in a larger, one-bedroom with large living space. Both were very comfortable and super clean. Cabin 6, the larger one, has a deck with cable rails which almost disappear, so you can see the lake well from indoors or outdoors. Some features need to be upgraded, but we had a splendid time. We watched the wind whip the ice floes around on the lake and then the ice vanished altogether. Short drive to Grand Marais.

Cascade Lodge's main lodge was recently redone before we stayed there over New Year's and it was a cozy and modern retreat. The room's condition was great and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The lodge is beautiful and welcoming and we couldn't have picked a better place for our 3 night stay.

Took my son up here for 4 nights staying at 5D. We had a good time, the room has 2 beds and a kitchen. Even though its right in the middle of the place it feels secluded with the way the trees and windows are situated. Lots of easily accessible hiking and views. Your are practically on the SHT and several other trails for skiing or snowmobiling depending on what you are into. It's definitely an older room and the bathroom needs updates for sure, but the kitchen made up for this. Bathroom fan crazy loud, needs replacement, tub drain doesn't work, vanity cracked, slight odors, etc. Also heat didn't seem to work in the living room but opening the doors to bedrooms compensated for that. They should probably have more pictures on the website so you can better see what you are getting. But to have a kitchen in the $140s range is pretty hard to find better than that; I would have given this place 4 stars but i just called about a lost item and they are sending it back to me so that is great news and great service so I'm giving them 5 for that.
