When our trip to Cancun was postponed, my wife and I decided to venture north to Minnesota's North Shore. We chose the Lutsen Resort because of a sale going on. I'm thankful we did. The resort has an array of different accomodations, from rooms in the lodge, townhomes, log cabins, and condos. We stayed in a master bedroom condo, which is a short walk through the woods to the main lodge. The staff was very friendly, and our room was clean and nice. Take advantage of the activities (but be sure to call exactly 7 days before the day you want to do an activity, and call right at 8:30 am). The resort is very close to Lutsen Mountains (worth it), a neat winery, public golf, and plenty of great hiking options. My only complaint was the lack of AC in our room. The room got fairly stuffy in the afternoon sun, meaning we opened all the windows and kept the fans going. That solved one problem, but also meant we could hear the conversations of the other guests in the condo unit that also had their windows ajar. However, it was never really a major distraction.

Should not be charging for resort fee if unable to accommodate for activities... And the sign up process for the activities is beyond frustrating, time consuming, and not relaxing at all. The inconvenience of calling everyday multiple times leaving voice mail trying to sign up and then to be told no more spots for anything, everyday, all week, makes me regret booking this trip...

I stayed in the Poplar River Condos in July, 2020; as i had in 2019. Quite relaxing again; with the feel of nature and Lake view. Due to the virus, some aspects of the resort are different, such as no breakfast. Bar has only takeout pizza & drinks. Bedding and towels are provided; I changed the sheets. The microwave became more important, as I reheated food obtained from the restaurant. I stored food in a plastic container that I brought with me. I was able to obtain plates, bowls, and cutlery after a request to the main desk. The condo does not provide these items. I made due with the small bar sink. Glad to have a refrigerator. I found breakfast at a restaurant ten miles away (Cascade Lodge). Dinner begins at 5:00 PM; reservations are required and made one day prior. So, once adapting, all went well. I suggest calling just before you go to see what changes may have happened since my visit.

Stayed 4 nights at The Lutsen Resort in July. We stayed in the Poplar River Villas. Room was small but nice. We had a small patio with a view of Lake Superior. Very small kitchenette with a sink mini fridge and microwave. Would have been nicer if it had a couple of plates, glasses and silverware and mugs for coffee in the morning. Resort took good COVID precautions which we appreciated. However, we were charged a resort fee bur because of the restriction were not able to sign up for any activities that were to be included in our stay. That was very disappointing. We understand the restrictions but then take away or at lest redue the resort fee. In spite of this we would recommend this resort especially once the COVID restrictions are lifted.
