Hotel with old charm, cosy rooms, huge fireplaces in lobby and diningroom, bonfires on the beach and plenty of sturdy wooden lawn chairs, lake Superior waves, good food, pleasant staff. Winter had left is toe, hiking paths need more attention, would be great to be able to set out right from the guest parkinglot and not having to take the car at all during the stay!

Another memorable weekend at this historic lodge in it’s beautiful setting. We wouldn’t think of staying at any other place (we were married here and came up to celebrate our anniversary). First feeling-Exhale. Your staff are your best sales representatives- service is over the top, helpful and so professional-felt like we were staying at an English chateau. Second feeling-Exhale. love the value placed on the historical attributes of the lodge. We stayed in an old lodge king lake view room (no modern two queen bedroom like every other hotel room) with all the necessary items (beds were so comfortable) and a killer room view. Third-Exhale. dining experience was joyful, gourmet and stunningly served. The evening was completed with a gin and tonic down by the bonfire. The location seems to be right in the middle of all that the north shore offers. Thank you again for a luxurious weekend escape (wish it were longer).

Stayed in the Lodge, relatively smaller queen room. Room was quite clean, bed very comfy. Pet-friendly (for a fee). EV-charging (for a fee). Elevator - no. Wonderful front desk staff. This, regrettably, was a one-night stay. Lutsen's shoreline offered lovely walks. The Strand restaurant is relaxing and offers a fine menu.

Friendly staff, cute rooms, live music Saturday nights (fun!), easy to borrow equipment for snow shoeing etc. shuttle to the local mountain. Great 4 days! Restaurant onsite is pricey but delicious (very rich food). No problem accommodating someone with food allergies.

We went there for a few days in December. Certainly a beautiful resort, but with room fee, resort fee etc it gets really expensive for what you get. Rooms are clean and very nice. Shower glass door in our room was not attached to shower securely, all a bit wonky. Staff is very good and attentive. Restaurant is quite exclusive.

I had the worst sleep of my life here. Let me explain: When I booked my reservation over 2 months ago, I mentioned in my reservation notes that I would like a pack and play/crib for my baby. I called the resort at the time I made my reservation and got confirmation that they have p&p's. At check in, the front desk receptionist mentioned "I see that you requested a pack and play?" I confirmed. He stated "there should be one in the room, but if not, call this number." There wasn't a p&p in the room & it was burning hot inside. I called the number that he listed, which was not in service. Then I dialed 0 & asked where the AC was located. He responded, "AC's are not included on the accomodations." Excuse me?! I knew the resort was older, but can't imagine sleeping here in the summer humidity. After asking "do you have a fan, at least?" He responded "there should be one in the drawer." Thank goodness they had that much! I then asked about the missing p&p. They told us they were working on it. 30 mins passed, I completed my baby's bedtime routine and she was rolling around, fussing, wanting to go to bed. Still no p&p. My husband went down to speak to the receptionist and the receptionist stated "they are trying to locate one in storage." We waited another 30 mins or so, wondering if they even had any after 1 hour. My baby was crying because she wanted to sleep and her sleep space wasn't available. By this time over an hour had passed. I went downstairs to the receptionist and asked again if they found a p&p They stated "we are working on finding one for you. They have to go into the storage unit." I responded, "you mentioned it would be in our room and I listed it on the reservation." He said, "I have no way of seeing the reservation requests until you check in." So no one looks through reservations ahead of time and makes sure they can accommodate guests? Before you suggest, why not just put her in our bed? Well, she isn't a graceful sleeper, and she thinks being near us = play time. By this time since my baby was in such a bad mood, we decided to bite the bullet and have her sleep in bed with us. We set her down & after an hour of fussing, rolling around,& kicking us, she finally slept. 3.5 hours passed since we checked in and we heard a knock on our door. Wes ignored the knock since we didn't want to wake our baby. A few minutes later, the room phone rang. This upset me. What if all of us were sleeping and the call woke our baby up after all the effort to get her to sleep? The common sense was just lacking. I picked up the phone and they said they managed to "locate" a pack and play and they said that "it's probably too late." Well, duh. 3.5 hours. I responded "yes, it is, she is already sleeping." They left it outside our door for the night. My daughter woke up crying a couple times throughout the night since she couldn't get comfortable and both my husband and I didn't sleep well at all. We didn't want to risk fully waking her up by opening the creeky door and setting up the pack and play while she was sleeping on and off. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends having your infant sleep in a separate sleeping space due to risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. So not only is not providing a pack and play in a timely manner unsafe, it's also morally irresponsible. All that aside, the pillows were so uncomfortable, I ended up sleeping without a pillow (!) because they hurt my neck. The bed was also too soft with no support and the material made both my husband and I very hot. Not a good combo with no air conditioning. Also, don't bother getting a lake view room, because the windows are covered with a really unattractive netting and you can get the same view from outside. The next morning when at check out, I asked to speak to a manager. Other receptionists there validated my concerns. They told me the manager wouldn't be in for another hour and they said that he would call me the same day. It's been 2 days and I never received a call from any manager from this resort. I overheard another unhappy patron mentioning she got locked out of one of the buildings one night and no one was answering her calls at the front desk. It's pitch black near this resort so I imagine that was terrifying! I could go on and on with more terrible things about this place but I will spare further details. Please listen to the negative reviews for this resort. I wish I did! TLDR: Isn't the whole point of booking a resort/hotel is ensuring EVERYONE in your family has a place to sleep? Think about it. Edit: unprofessional response to my constructive criticism. Should I bring my own bed to the hotel, too? Please attempt to remedy the situation before getting offended at my honest review.

A little tidbit from wiki to help address your concerns: A window screen (also known as insect screen, bug screen, fly screen, flywire, wire mesh, or window net) is designed to cover the opening of a window. It is usually a mesh made of metal, fibreglass, plastic wire, or other pieces of plastic and stretched in a frame of wood or metal. It serves to keep leaves, debris, bugs, birds, and other animals from entering a building or a screened structure such as a porch, without blocking fresh air-flow. Most houses in Australia, the United States and Canada and other parts of the world have screens on windows to prevent entry of flying insects such as mosquitoes, flies and wasps. In some regions such as the northern United States and Canada, screens were required to be replaced by glass storm windows in the winter, but now combination storm and screen windows are available, which allow glass and screen panels to slide up and down.

My family stayed at the Lutsen Resort in August 2022. My husband and I had stayed there about 10 years ago and had a good experience. That was not the case, this time. We stayed in one of the villas which was supposed to have a view of the lake. We were on the ground floor, so that the view was of foliage and the lake was barely visible. The stairwell and hall outside the door to our room was dirty throughout the length of our stay with a pile of debris in the corner the whole time. The didn't inform us that the footbridge would be closed off during our stay, so we had to walk up to the highway and back down again to get to the lodge for amenities. Every aspect of the pool area was heavily worn and in need of repair with graffiti scratched into the hot tub, a keypad door that doesn't actually close, dirty floors, a broken clock, broken signage, and very stained and scratched walls. It was really gross in there. The lodge only offers one dining option now and it is very highly priced (when we stayed there before, there was an upscale option and a separate casual grill). We didn't have any dressier clothes to wear (and neither did anyone else other than the wait staff) which made for a weird experience. The food was fine, but we certainly would not have planned to pay $200 for dinner if there had been another option on site. The live music on the beach was nice, but only one of the fire pits was lit, so everyone was crowded in one spot. The garbage on the porch was overflowing. Overall, I felt we paid way too much for this "experience."

Totally blown away by the views. Definitely better to visit when the weather is cooler as the rooms have no air conditioning in the lodge. The place is designed to get away from the hussle and bustle from everyday life. There's fishing and kayaking class as well hiking tours available. Resort restaurant is okay. The resort staff super friendly and helpful. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We didn't intend to stay at the Lutsen Resort, but ended up there after switching from another of their properties. We were not told the room would be almost three times the cost of our original reservation. The old lodge is lovely and the rooms are pretty but not as well equipped as they should be (no desk or table, limited bathroom storage). The TV didn't work, which wouldn't be a big deal but the room was very expensive and we thought things should be in working order. They moved us to a condo that had not been cleaned. After and hour of waiting they got us into another condo where the fireplace didn't work but we were over dealing with the hotel. Who needs a fireplace? Overall we had an experience that was not up to the standard we would expect given the price.

Spent 2 nights here with my granddaughter. The views were beautiful and the bed really comfy. There was a bit more noise than I'd have liked with the driveway right under the window-but it wasn't terrible. We did some walking on the beach, they have a nice little tide pool for playing in the water; nighttime fire pits with s'mores packets which was a nice touch. (BRING BUG SPRAY though!). I can't say enough about how kind the staff was, very helpful all the time.
