Small, country motel with 5 motel rooms and 2 cabins. Prices range from $34 a night for a single twin bed to $105 a night for a 2-bedroom cabin with a full kitchen.
My husband has been staying in the cabin off and on for two weeks while on a business trip. He loves it there. It is homey and comfortable. He says there is fantastic service, the cabin is extremely clean and there are restaurants and a convenience store nearby.

Cabin 7 was clean, cozy and great parking. It had a fire pit, which was awesome! Staff was friendly and quick! The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pans and pots to cook which made breakfast super easy. Located not far from Waboose Trail or Itasca State Park! Great stay overall.

The owners are very caring and have great service. The place is clean with internet and closest place to Lake Itasca.Beds are comfortable. It has a rustic charm with many of the details attended to for a very enjoyable stay. Like cups and glass glasses and ice packs in the freezer.

It is now under new ownership and the gal was very friendly on the phone and in person. The beds were clean and the bathroom was spacious. It's an older motel and could use some renovation but we were comfortable here. It was $77 for 2 queen beds, a reasonable price for sure!

My room had a twin bed! Can't remember when I slept in a twin bed @ a motel. It was small but clean ~ very clean ~ actually! There was plenty of TV to watch, a fridge, a toaster & coffee maker. The new owners were friendly. This small room with a twin bed was really inexpensive. Outside is a gathering spot with pick nick tables and a fire ring for those cooler evenings, if you are traveling with a group. And it was quiet. No internet would be my only con. But for the price I won't complain.

My wife and I, along with our three grand kids stayed here for two nights. The room was a decent size with three beds, one of them in a walled off area by itself. There was also a mini fridge and microwave and Dish TV, the internet worked good too. It is the only reasonable place for miles around, much cheaper than Douglas Lodge and the cabins in Itasca State Park. No pool here, but there is a nice, but small, sandy public beach on Paine Lake just down the road within walking distance there is also playground equipment and a ball field and a boat ramp and dock in the park. We saw a heard some loons on the lake while we were here, always a treat! This place is old, so don't expect a Holiday Inn, but every thing was clean and the windows opened up for fresh air, always a plus for me.…

We needed to stop for the night on our way north. I can remember passing by this motel as far back as the late sixties on our yearly treks north. As luck would have it the Pines had one room left ( the large room #1, sleeps 6 with a full kitchen). The proprietor apologetically offered the rate when I told her we were just 2. The rate was still $30 to $40 less than anything in the larger nearby towns. Although the room had the look and feel of motels I had stayed in 30 to 40 years ago, it was very clean and roomy. We were able to have bit of dinner in the well equipped kitchen. Then had a good night sleep in the comfortable queen size bed. The only draw back was some road noise through the front window. Our unit is the closest to the hi way and the large single pane glass did not cut traffic noise much. This was not much of an issue because there is not a lot of traffic late or early through Lake George. I would guess this is not a problem for the units further back from the road. If you are looking for a reasonable place to stay while in the area or passing through I would definitely recommend The Pines. …

Just 5 miles from the east entrance to Itasca State Park, the town of Lake George is also home to several knickknack shops. The Pines is the only motel/hotel accommodation in town, or even within a 30 mile radius, though I'm sure there are ample resorts and rentals. That said, The Pines was perfectly fine accommodation for the night. Rooms were decent sized, bathrooms were clean. Our room had a fridge, a full table and chairs, and most unexpectedly the TV had full Dish Network. I pirated off someone's wifi, I have no idea if it was the motel's or not, it wasn't labeled; either way, I didn't pay for it. There's not much by way of service and not much needed - I think they only have 6 rooms. It's no palace, but for a clean, rustic motel, The Pines left me satisfied.
