Right off the interstate we found this delightful place to stay, and excellent rates! The Earth Inn says they do everything 6 ft under because it is an earth berm. Rooms very clean, spacious and charming (we got the Jimmy Buffett room).. Excellent wifi. Helpful and hospitable manager. Appealing to anyone who cares about energy conservation, quirkiness, bikers, laborers, or... More

Comfortable and friendly. Price was right and the room was just what we needed for a stay on the road. Wifi was good with microwave and fridge. Hot water and nice time. Good part of the state and just off the highway. Would definitely recommend a trip to the Earth Inn if you're anywhere in the area.

Super nice staff, clean rooms, interesting location. The hotel itself is very interesting. It is truly in the earth. DQ right next door and a Embers right there. I would absolutely love to go back to the Earth Inn!!

As we travel between Ontario and South Dakota frequently, I have always wanted to stay here. (Disclaimer: we stay in everything from 2 star up.) While I do love the comfort of some chains, it is also nice to stay in small places that are owned by individuals, as this is a part of North America that we are losing... More

The effect of being underground on the air quality is noticable. Not much heating required, nor air conditionning, humidity perfect. The main highway noise... absent. Aaaaahhh! Pleasant sleep and 2 weeks for work stay.

If you rent a hotel room you should be able to control heat and air conditioning. In this hotel, in winter, you cannot control the heat. The thermostat is locked down in the managers office and set for the same temp in every room. And, of course, that temp is too low. IMO that is foolish. The room was also... More

Overall, we found the Earth Inn to be a good value that suited our needs for the night. The room was outfitted with a fridge and microwave. It was a little dark, which is due to it being partially underground. There were many notes and reminders placed all around the room, explaining everything from how to open the blinds on... More

I booked a suite in the Earth Inn hotel for 3 of us - 2 adults and 1 child. When we arrived, Mike informed us that the he did not really think we need a suite for the party of 3 and he gave it away to somebody else. Mike gave me the impression that he manages or, possibly, even... More

This was a super find, not only on the lower end cost wise, very clean, friendly check in and our room was absolutely the quietest hotel room I have ever stayed in, ask for the room closest to the hwy. Sounds crazy but its the deepest in the hillside and whisper quiet.

Spent thousands of dollars here staying for about a months. And was treated like this for continually putting up do not disturb sign. But instead while I was gone they would come in anyway and move my belonging around and who knows what else. Not a place I'd advise to anyone. Cheaply and poorly put together building that if it...
