We were lucky enough to be able to rent one of the ice castles for some ice fishing. Check in was abreeze and customer service was incredible, communication was super easy and everyone was very very helpful. We stayed in the White Ice Castle, which was super comfy and cozy. Everything worked perfectly and we had plenty of space. This being my first time ice fishing, I was worried about being cold and I was surprised that the place was warm enough to walk around in socks and light clothing. Super cool experience, highly recommend!
The resort grounds are well maintained, and the trailers are clean, but they need some major updating. Furniture is very old and felt dirty when you sit on it. The beds are the worst. I could feel the springs come through and did not sleep much at all.
We rented a 4 person ATV from them and had an absolute blast! They were one of the only outfits we could find that didn't require that you be guided which, as experienced motorsport enthusiasts, we greatly appreciated. The front desk was really great to accommodate us for a later afternoon reservation and inform us in advance of what we could expect and need. The process was easy after filling the necessary forms and we were given brand new nice helmets. The gentleman in charge of the equipment gave us a ton of tips and made sure we were prepared and even escorted us to the trailhead on his own personal ATV. We got muddy, wet, and sore butts and couldn't have had a better time!! It's a bit off the main highway but TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
If you’re looking for a very quiet escape ~ this is the escape for you! My adult daughter and I (and her dog) were able to get in a couple of days of relaxation with a mix of daytime fun and are now ready to face reality again. This hotel is not on Lake Mille Lacs and does not have a pool as we thought, but it’s affordable and allows pets. Father Hennepin State Park is just down the road a mile and has a great beach and walking trails. Our first night we had some issues with gnats and spiders in one of the beds so they moved us to another room and didn’t have any problems. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful at all times and they even had Heggie’s pizza available!
Remember in northern MN do not wait to the last minute fora a weekend hotel in the summer. This was not a bad hotel. It is centrally located for fishing activities and a State Park (Father Hennipen). There are some food choices in town, not a lot. There is a moderately sized grocery store in town and there is a microwave and a refrigerator in the room. The hotel also advertise in the room the local pizza company. So, they may be able to cook one of those up for you. It was little outdated but the decor went along with the outdoor them. There was a head of a bear and moose on wall of the reception area. It looks like you rent a canoe and there seems to be also excursions. They had an outdoor wedding outside my widow (huge grass area behind the hotel) and memorial on the grounds while we there. There was also a professional bass fisherman there. I did ask for the iron and they could not find it. Overall not a bad room. There was air conditioning in the room that worked well, a little loud but it gave flavor to the room. No swimming poo, you had the lake. Breakfast did have a waffle maker which in their book says is available when they have supplies. There also an area for motor home and tents.…
