We visited in July 2019 for two nites. There is relatively new fishing dock, small store, (which was closed), camping sites with electric hookup. Coin operated washer/dryer available. Operated by the City of Hoyt Lakes. Be sure to buy your live fishing bate before coming here as they don't stock any! Cooperative office/support staff.
Limited swimming area (not marked off or maintained) with rock/stone bottom - but ok, water shoes recommended tho.
We were in site 76, a new site, without lake view but private. Asphalt bike trails and roads - easy walk to fishing dock and/or swimming area. Advance reservations highly recommended. Large campground area with numerous lake view sites. We noted minimal mosquitoes.

Arrived for evening crappie fishing. Caught three before mosquitoes eat you slice. Packed fish up and headed home twoiles away. Opened cooler to clean fish and an overwhelming smell of sewage came out you could not smell fish. Threw them and the cooler out.

My family has camped here many times. It's a very popular campground so it's important to make a reservation, especially if you want a lake site. There are quite a few campsites where you can pull your boat up and also swim at your site. It's very rocky though, so it's good to wear swim shoes. Also, there are paved bike trails that lead directly from the campground and join the Mesabi Bike Trail, so it's a great place to bring your bike. There is also a playground in the campground and a public beach in town, so there are plenty of activities to do. If you're looking for a quiet place to get away, it may not be the best choice though as it is a busy campground. It is much quieter in sites 62-70 though, as they are on a separate peninsula and not on the main road.
