I was not sure how renting the Penthouse and Lumbar Baron Condo would work for my Rethinking Reality Retreat for Women. I found it to be a most enjoyable atmosphere and it fit wonderfully for my very first retreat. Pam and Dick were fantastic at accommodating my needs. Prior to the event they made sure there were the proper cords to connect my laptop to the T.V. for my presentations. This was their first request for this and Dick went right to work setting it all up. They had several tables available for me to use for a soulful painting event which sat my 12 attendees. We used the parlor for a more intimate setting for the day's training and the wraparound couch and table with chairs in the bay window area worked perfect. We also enjoyed breakfast in the foyer as well as the table in the bay window area. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook food, serve and eat our meals and even had enough wine glasses. The penthouse was perfect for my evening opening wine and appetizer opener. The rooms in the penthouse were very nice and the solarium was perfect for the morning guided meditation. It was a bit chilly in the solarium one morning when the temperature dropped however I later learned that you could turn up the heat. Whatever we asked for Pam and Dick provided. We needed wood and Dick brought it. My computer speakers did not work and Pam let me use hers from her personal computer. The porch and driveway was shoveled off for us. And the day before my retreat we were expecting a blizzard and Pam called me and offered my attendees to arrive a day early to beat the storm at no cost. A few attendees took her up on the offer of which I was so grateful for. Pam provided me with numerous pictures to create documents with the accommodation choices for my attendees to chose from. She gave me suggestions for places to go out to eat around town and enjoy the area in our free time. I was also delighted by the special touch of having fresh tulips in a vase and a gift card to the local health food market in town. One guest even came early and booked some holistic services with someone Pam recommended and was thrilled with the services she received. Overall I am well pleased with how everything turned out!

What a treat to work with you Lori. You organized this event so beautifully. I learned much in the process including how to present the accommodations in a beautiful professional format. Your continual optimism throughout all our conversations was inspiring. You continue to inspire me as I follow Mindscapes Unlimited. Dick and I are so very pleased the spaces worked out for your group. This was only the second time a group has booked both condos together. Sounds a bit trite, but I think the house sang with joy during your time here. Thank you so much. And thank you for booking "next year same time".

We had family coming in from all different locations for a wedding. Renting this condo was much better than a hotel. The lumbar baron condo was perfect, the rooms were big, the master suite was really quaint. It was nice being in a house as it felt like we were at home. We did not lack for anything and Pam and Dick were very accommodating which is very much appreciated. We would highly recommend the condo to anyone. Kim & Mike May 2016

This was our fifth annual mother/daughter/friends weekend and by far one of our best. We took advantage of the character of the home and did a murder/mystery dinner, tons of fun! Shopping was great in Hastings plus a classic car show that night. The icing on the cake was breakfast on our last morning at Rosewood Inn. Dick and Pam had a wonderful breakfast for us and gave us a tour of the Inn along with history of how it all came about. Dick and Pam are great hosts and if we ever repeat a destination some year this would be top on our list. Highly recommended for your next girls weekend!

Needing a place to house many friends & relatives, as well as to cook a rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding, this place worked well as a 'home base'. We booked the Lumber Baron & basement ~ 6 months in advance that could hold up to 12 people. The main part of the house can hold 8 people in 3 bedrooms and the basement 4 which is accessed by an interior elevator. A washer & dryer were also there for use during our stay. Many fireplaces throughout were not used by us since it was summer. The basement floor can also be heated if it is cold on your feet. The kitchen had a large bottom freezer/frig, wine cooler, dishwasher and stove/oven that was adequate for our needs. I even used the Jacuzzi once after a long, busy week. Some very nice touches were the gorgeous vase of Irises on a table when we arrived and a container of ice cream for our enjoyment in the freezer. It was nice to meet Dick when he checked us in and Pam when we met her for a delicious gourmet breakfast at their other house, the Rosewood B & B. They are both kind, gracious, and accommodating hosts. The beds were not the most comfortable and I had tried 3 of them. The master king sized bed has a metal frame, so if taller than 6' (my spouse), your feet can hang uncomfortably over them. There were several items in need of repair that were pointed out to us & were not able to be used - a pot filler (for water) over the stove, half of the wine cooler and the water filter on the sink faucet. Not sure how well the space was vacuumed since we ran across hairs (pet?) and Legos. Also had some noisy upstairs (Penthouse) houseguests during the weekend - loud voices, some running around and moving furniture. The owners live in the other half of the house and we were never disturbed. We would like to be back sometime in the future in order to try the Rosewood B & B and explore the Hastings area more. Thank you!

Thank you for your kind words. How fun it was to have your group with us and at Rosewood for breakfast. However, we feel bad that there was an impression that three things did not work or worse that we think it OK that something does not work. Obviously orientation was not concise enough and therefore misunderstood. Totally our fault and we are sorry. Wine frig --- it is not that half does not work --- Red wine side is not supposed to chill wine as much as side for white. It is set for 56 degrees. It was suggested you do not even have to use the red wine side as many think it not necessary to chill red wine in fact. Pot faucet. This amenity has caused problems for us as some guests or their children do not turn off all the way or worse turn it on with nothing under it. It has leaked into the top of the line Kitchenaid stove and cost us repairs twice of almost half the cost of the stove. You would not think anyone would turn on a pot faucet with nothing underneath it, but people have. We think we will remove this amenity. We thought it kinder to ask guests to not use it than to say we don’t trust that you and all your family will use it correctly (because of our negative experiences) and then have a stove that does not work and have costly repairs. Filtered water faucet. We have two systems for filtered water. One is by the kitchen sink and one is in the refrigerator. Dick suggested using the one in the refrigerator since that is very cold water with no need for ice. There is no reason for us to have two systems and again maybe we need to take out the one by the kitchen sink because of this comment. I should mention there is nothing wrong with Hastings water except that it is chlorinated. We also have a special filter in the shower in the master suite since some do not like to shower in chlorinated water. Bed comfort. We feel very bad that you did not find a comfy bed. With sleeping for up to 12, there is a variety of firmness (on purpose) So we have since (thanks to this comment) added to the orientation book, a chart that states which mattresses are firm, medium firm and soft. We appreciate this comment so that future guests can choose their bed and bedroom according to their preferences from the mattress–bed chart. We feel very bad that vacuuming was less than perfect. Since your family had guests coming and going and even hosted a gathering here, we realized much of the furniture was moved to accommodate. We were fine in fact with it not being back in the same place. The staff will be more attentive to moving furniture for vacuuming in the future. They take great pride in their work and take this comment very seriously. Thank you again for your comments. We can think of nothing more important than our guests’ comfort and we always want to learn and grow in that regard. We are so very happy you enjoyed Hastings and do hope to serve you again. Had a wonderful time with my Sisters and Nieces stayed in the Lumbar Baron Suite. Lots of room and the bath was fabulous. Pam and Dick were very accommodating and gracious. Kudos to them for preserving a little piece of history and sharing it. We will definitely be making it an annual trip. Highly recommend the Arts Aloft painting experience. Dave made it fun, while learning something new.
