I was not sure how renting the Penthouse and Lumbar Baron Condo would work for my Rethinking Reality Retreat for Women. I found it to be a most enjoyable atmosphere and it fit wonderfully for my very first retreat. Pam and Dick were fantastic at accommodating my needs. Prior to the event they made sure there were the proper cords to connect my laptop to the T.V. for my presentations. This was their first request for this and Dick went right to work setting it all up. They had several tables available for me to use for a soulful painting event which sat my 12 attendees. We used the parlor for a more intimate setting for the day's training and the wraparound couch and table with chairs in the bay window area worked perfect. We also enjoyed breakfast in the foyer as well as the table in the bay window area. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook food, serve and eat our meals and even had enough wine glasses. The penthouse was perfect for my evening opening wine and appetizer opener. The rooms in the penthouse were very nice and the solarium was perfect for the morning guided meditation. It was a bit chilly in the solarium one morning when the temperature dropped however I later learned that you could turn up the heat. Whatever we asked for Pam and Dick provided. We needed wood and Dick brought it. My computer speakers did not work and Pam let me use hers from her personal computer. The porch and driveway was shoveled off for us. And the day before my retreat we were expecting a blizzard and Pam called me and offered my attendees to arrive a day early to beat the storm at no cost. A few attendees took her up on the offer of which I was so grateful for. Pam provided me with numerous pictures to create documents with the accommodation choices for my attendees to chose from. She gave me suggestions for places to go out to eat around town and enjoy the area in our free time. I was also delighted by the special touch of having fresh tulips in a vase and a gift card to the local health food market in town. One guest even came early and booked some holistic services with someone Pam recommended and was thrilled with the services she received. Overall I am well pleased with how everything turned out!…
We had family coming in from all different locations for a wedding. Renting this condo was much better than a hotel. The lumbar baron condo was perfect, the rooms were big, the master suite was really quaint. It was nice being in a house as it felt like we were at home. We did not lack for anything and Pam and Dick were very accommodating which is very much appreciated. We would highly recommend the condo to anyone. Kim & Mike May 2016
This was our fifth annual mother/daughter/friends weekend and by far one of our best. We took advantage of the character of the home and did a murder/mystery dinner, tons of fun! Shopping was great in Hastings plus a classic car show that night. The icing on the cake was breakfast on our last morning at Rosewood Inn. Dick and Pam had a wonderful breakfast for us and gave us a tour of the Inn along with history of how it all came about. Dick and Pam are great hosts and if we ever repeat a destination some year this would be top on our list. Highly recommended for your next girls weekend!
Needing a place to house many friends & relatives, as well as to cook a rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding, this place worked well as a 'home base'. We booked the Lumber Baron & basement ~ 6 months in advance that could hold up to 12 people. The main part of the house can hold 8 people in 3 bedrooms and the basement 4 which is accessed by an interior elevator. A washer & dryer were also there for use during our stay. Many fireplaces throughout were not used by us since it was summer. The basement floor can also be heated if it is cold on your feet. The kitchen had a large bottom freezer/frig, wine cooler, dishwasher and stove/oven that was adequate for our needs. I even used the Jacuzzi once after a long, busy week. Some very nice touches were the gorgeous vase of Irises on a table when we arrived and a container of ice cream for our enjoyment in the freezer. It was nice to meet Dick when he checked us in and Pam when we met her for a delicious gourmet breakfast at their other house, the Rosewood B & B. They are both kind, gracious, and accommodating hosts. The beds were not the most comfortable and I had tried 3 of them. The master king sized bed has a metal frame, so if taller than 6' (my spouse), your feet can hang uncomfortably over them. There were several items in need of repair that were pointed out to us & were not able to be used - a pot filler (for water) over the stove, half of the wine cooler and the water filter on the sink faucet. Not sure how well the space was vacuumed since we ran across hairs (pet?) and Legos. Also had some noisy upstairs (Penthouse) houseguests during the weekend - loud voices, some running around and moving furniture. The owners live in the other half of the house and we were never disturbed. We would like to be back sometime in the future in order to try the Rosewood B & B and explore the Hastings area more. Thank you!…
Had a wonderful time with my Sisters and Nieces stayed in the Lumbar Baron Suite. Lots of room and the bath was fabulous. Pam and Dick were very accommodating and gracious. Kudos to them for preserving a little piece of history and sharing it. We will definitely be making it an annual trip. Highly recommend the Arts Aloft painting experience. Dave made it fun, while learning something new.
