Our experience at Budget Host Caribou Inn in Hallock Mn was way below our expectations. We had just come from a lovely stay at a bed and breakfast in Minot ND that included a gourmet breakfast and great ambience. The Budget Host cost slightly more ($85/night) and the emphasis was on budget. There were no other cars in the parking...

Hallock is a very nice place. Our stay at the Caribou Hotel was ok. Nothing fancy but clean and lower price which is good when travelling just for the one night. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. I would stay again at this hotel on our stay. There is a restaurant and lounge next door same parking lot. !!

Stopped in and seemed ok. Toured the town of just under a 1000 and this was the best of 2. A tad pricey but ok. No staff after midnight on site. Parking lot on east side so ask for a east facing room if car vision is desired. The front door entrance mats are toast so that may deter you...

There aren't a lot of choices for lodging in Hallock. We were genealogy hunting so we stopped here. Room was clean and adequate. Female front desk person went out of her way to get a room for us - they were full due to a wedding in town. Breakfast area very small and just basics.

I stayed at this hotel twice a week for about 6 months. I was very impressed for a small town hotel. Pros: The service was amazing. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was small but had a good variety. The rooms were very clean and the beds and towels were also always clean. Cons: The...

I went up to visit my SO who was working up there. The manager is extremely rude, curt, and acts like having a guest is a nuisance. Two of my children were told to leave the hotel when coming in from outside, the manager threatened to charge my SO's company more money for us being there for a few days,...

We travel to Hallock and every other year to visit family and stay at the Budget Host because it truly is the only hotel in the area. It is always clean; however, we have noticed that the beds seem to get harder every year. I think they need to replace them becasue they are uncomfortable.

Of course it's really the only hotel in town:-) There is a smaller motel but I wouldn't recommend it. The rooms are clean here and quite large and comfortable. It appears to be a family owned business and the lady at the desk was friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant next door that serves breakfast and dinner, not sure...

Very average hotel, but clean. Best hotel in the town of Hallock, MN. Very modest breakfast. Good option for a very small town in Minnesota. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area.

We needed to stay in or near Hallock to visit family. My husband and I were happy to find this clean, comfortable hotel in town. Although there was a loud train going through town, we only noticed it once. We found the breakfast simple, but sufficient: instant oatmeal, cold cereals, bagels, toast, different breads and muffins, coffee, juice and more....

“They advertise a jacuzzi suite, so I guess there's at least one higher tier room for those who care.”

“Call the motel directly - the national number said they were fully booked, as did Expedia and hotels.com - but they actually had a lot of rooms. There are "no smoking" rooms - fine after you clear out that chemical cleaner smell. If you mention you'd like a quieter room, I imagine the rooms down the hall are quieter than those closer to the reception/lobby/breakfast area... especially on nights when my relatives and I are hanging out with a couple of bottles of wine...”
