#1 of 2 B&Bs / Inns in Grand Rapids
The Green Heron Bed and Breakfast is located on Pokegama Lake in the north woods of Minnesota, in Grand Rapids. We're a cozy inn, open year round, with an old European country feel and modern American amenities. When you come down the drive you'll find it hard to believe you were just in town, and are only minutes away from bike, ski and snowmobile trails, golf courses, fishing or paddling, hiking and shopping. We have two very comfortable guest rooms, each with private baths, views of the lake and easy access to our fantastic sandy beach and lake, or direct access to the ice in the winter. Included during your stay is a full breakfast, use of kayaks, canoe and fire pit on the beach. There's a tennis and pickle ball court, beach volley ball or badminton, and lots of room to just sit and relax. We have a shared TV and socializing area, beautiful library, high speed internet and Wi-Fi.We are surrounded by gardens and woods as well as the lake and enjoy lots of wildlife viewing. We look forward to having you come share in this little piece of paradise.

This was the perfect weekend getaway for my sister and I. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The Inn and grounds had so many wonderful amenities and neat spaces to relax and hang out. The food was fantastic. The hosts were also so very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely come back.

The owners were fantastic and the residence was beautiful. It was quiet, well-decorated, and the breakfast was wonderful. One of the rare bed and breakfasts that was open year round. Has an old-world study as well as beautiful living room overlooking the lake. Would highly recommend and we plan to visit again!

Thank you for your kind words. We love our winter guests and hearing about their adventures. Whether your trip is for a concert or a Reif show, enjoying the trails, or just cozying up to the fire...winter in Minnesota is as special as the other seasons up here. We look forward to your return. Hopefully another concert next year, but maybe even a trip up to enjoy the lake and beach.

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at the Green Heron. Johnnie, Chris and their dog Jake (loved him!) were the perfect hosts. We looked forward to an incredible breakfast each morning and relaxing wine and appetizers in the afternoon. We were very fortunate to stay there during the peak of fall colors, the home and grounds were beautiful. Highly recommend to anyone as a First Class bed & breakfast. Such a relaxing getaway. We attended a concert at the Reif Center Saturday evening and couldn’t have been more impressed - great venue and event! We hope to return next fall, a little earlier so we can bike the trails. Thank you Johnnie, Chris and Jake for a memorable birthday weekend!

This is a fabulous B&B and we have stayed in many in the USA. Johnnie and Chris are great hosts and Jake the dog is lovable. Every breakfast was delicious with excellent home cooking. Chris provided good tips for the local area which were invaluable. From the moment we walked in and were welcomed with a glass of wine and snacks we felt at home. The setting on the lake is beautiful and our only regret is that we could not have stayed longer.

This was our second visit with Johnnie, Chris, and sweet Jake (family dog)🐶 This visit was even better than the last...beautiful Loon room with a private walkout to the beach. Fishing on the dock with Jake, flowers in full bloom, and most importantly a break away with my Husband. Johnnie is an amazing chef and offers new items each visit! Breakfast is always amazing and the appetizer each night is creative and delicious along with Chris home brew beers! We love visiting with them, kind of like family. Bonfires and s’mores by the lake...little tip Thanks to Johnnie, peppermint patty instead of the chocolate bar...AMAZING ❤️ They take time to ask how you are, if there is anything they can do to make your stay better. Already made our 3rd reservations for this October to see fall colors hopefully and bringing friends this time to enjoy the beauty!

Very excited that you’re going to enjoy your third season here! We’re hoping for lots of reds and golds this fall! “Chef”?! I’ll settle for pretty good cook. Good thing I’ve got a few weeks to experiment with some new recipes. You’re setting that bar pretty high! It is a lot of fun to cook for folks who are willing, and like to try new things. We’ll see ya soon.
