We rented entire B & B for 13 family members. It was a lot of coordinating and tweaks to make it work and Amy could not have been more accommodating and helpful during a very stressful time. Dave was a wonderful and patient host. The gardens and patios allowed us to enjoy the outdoors. Private and public areas were clean, comfy and cute. Special touches around the inn like complimentary beverages just made us feel welcome. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Highly recommend Bird House!
Our three-night July stay at the Birdhouse bed and breakfast in Excelsior, MN has been a great experience. We had worried about needing to stay in a hotel during the Covid crisis. The Birdhouse with its comfortable porch and flower filled grounds was an excellent choice. The inn is spotlessly clean. Two of us stayed in the main floor Pheasant and Cardinal suite of rooms. We had a bedroom, bath, kitchenette and gathering area with TV and fireplace. Our adult daughter slept upstairs in her private bedroom with bathroom. She came down to share the suite. But in actuality, we also felt welcome the inn’s central parlor, dining room, and library. We have been made to feel completely at home. Antique furnishings without ever feeling like we “mustn’t touch”. It’s just like my grandparents’ house back in the 50’s! But grandma never had TVs, WiFi, HGTV-style bathrooms, soft-water showers, or king sized beds. Comfort, thoughtfulness and convenience were the focus here. There was even a picnic basket on the refrigerator in case we wanted lunch at the lake. They thought of everything! Dave, our innkeeper was completely at our beck and call while respecting our privacy. And talk about location! We were quietly tucked away on the main street of downtown Excelsior, an exciting and friendly vacation area. We’ve walked to cute shops; we’ve taken paths along Lake Minnetonka, and eaten at family owned restaurants, bakeries and ice cream shops with outdoor seating options. Nearby, we visited visited Minnesota Arboretum to walk and see the flowers. Lots to do! We were smiling behind our masks. We felt safe, healthy and entertained. We will be back for sure!…
Rooms are quaint, comfortable, and very clean. Nice amenities. Awesome breakfast. Literally downtown historic Excelsior, MN walking distance from galleries, restaurants, breweries, and any service you could want. On site parking in the shade was plentiful and easy. Hosts were gracious and attentive. We were very happy!
My fiance and I stayed in the Garden Room, the decoration was really cute and the fireplace made it toasty warm. Breakfast was great and the hosts were friendly! Nothing more I could ask for in a nice lakeside B&B.
Spent a lovely mid-winter weekend. The house, and its rooms, are lovely, and perfectly situated at the head of Excelsior's main street, with very easy walks to many of the town's restaurants and shops. The breakfast was superb!
