If you have always wanted to stay in one of the oldest homes in Minnesota, on the main street filled with shops, delicious restaurants and only 2 blocks from beautiful Lake Minnetonka, then the Bird House Inn will not let you down. Originally begun in 1858 by James H. Clark, with additions throughout its 158 years, this B & B... More

My girlfriend and I have been friends for over 30 years. We finally took a "girls" weekend to relax and enjoy ourselves. This place did not let us down. Very close to shops, grocery, restaurants. Beautifully decorated and very quiet...we enjoyed our complimentary snacks, glass of wine as well as a beautiful room. Lovely visit with the owner and other... More

I had a very pleasant stay at the Bird House Inn, the room was lovely and everyone was very nice. The location is great. There are wonderful shops and restaurants nearby. I would definitely like to come back. I was in the Garden room on the first floor.

I planned this visit with friends to celebrate my birthday. I live within 15 minutes of this charming place. It's a Victorian mansion with modern day comforts. It's not a big, splashy hotel. But offers a quiet, personal experience where you can lounge, enjoy snacks and treats at no additional cost, bathe in big comfortable tubs and enjoy the antique... More

Thanks for the nice review. It was great having you and your friends with us! Beautiful weather and a fun event in town made it a great time to come. I'm glad you guys checked out the weekly Thursday ladies night out - and the special fashion show this week. There are events in town it seems like every weekend,... More

My favorite thing about the Bird House Inn isn't the wrap around decks on the second floor, or the long porch on the first, or the fact that a library sits in a charming living area, where you can sit back with a book and a glass of complimentary wine or snack, or the wonderful breakfast area, where owner Dave... My first stay in a B&B so I don't have a lot to compare to, but I felt this was a great environment. The breakfast was fantastic and other guests were very pleasant to converse with. A lot of history here with some interesting rooms. I would strongly recommend the Birdhouse Inn.

I love when we get to introduce people to the world of B&Bs! Now that it is so easy to screen them ahead of time, why would anyone stay anywhere else? :) Great having you here and contributing to the wonderful breakfast conversations. More

Dave and his family are wonderful people, incredible hosts and are perfected suited for this type of Bed and Breakfast experience. No details went unnoticed during my stay, including a variety of beverages to enjoy on the historic patio overlooking the town. You are close to town, lakes and the bikes paths that seem to go on forever. Without hesitation... More

What a memorable stay this was. It is incredibly rewarding when the work you do is appreciated by such a gracious and charismatic guest. Conversations from the heart and connections with my family that make them sad at parting are a true gift. We're all looking forward to having you back! And thanks for mentioning "overcoming barriers" since that reminded... More

We chose this B&B to hold our wedding ceremony and reception dinner after finding out my father had a terminal illness and wouldn't be able to attend the wedding we had planned in September. Dave made it possible for us, even with hardly a months notice. He was professional and understanding and we are very grateful that we could celebrate... More

I'm so glad we were able to fit you in on short notice, and we were happy to provide the tissues for what was clearly a very moving ceremony for your family. Such a heartbreaking story that got you to us in the first place, but it was a pleasure to be there for the start of your new life... More

My sister and I stayed in the Garden room for 2 nights in March for a girls getaway. We picked Excelsior mainly for a convenient location, not knowing anything about the town or hotels. We LOVED the Bird House! It was relaxing and comfortable. There was always tea/coffee/treats available, as well as wine for relaxing in the cozy sitting room... More

This is a lovely B&B very convenient to downtown Excelsior. The proprietor, Dave, was super friendly and helpful. I accidentally left my iPhone cable and he's mailing it back at no charge. I had to leave too early for the breakfast, but they had plenty of snacks to get my work day started.

Great having you here. Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat more. It would have been very interesting to hear more about what you do! Glad the self-serve options worked for you. Keurig, muffins, cereal, yogurt and a piece of fruit can make for a pretty good breakfast in a pinch - any time of the day or night! More
