We are a small, private, lakeside resort located on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Our cabins feature lakeside views, A/C, WiFi, Flat Screen TVs, full housekeeping amenities and more. Our cabins are extremely clean and we use green cleaning products for your health and the environment.
2bedroom cabin with large living and kitchen areas. Clean and affordable.
Garden Lake at the door and Ely MN close by for convenience, many outdoor adventures and shopping.
Many good dining areas nearby.
The owner is on location and provides an ambient setting for a nice holiday experience.
We arrived to a clean cabin. The owner is a personable fellow with a good sense of humor and stories if you like to talk.
This is the North woods on a beautiful lake with 3-islands to explore. The canoe and row boat are available gratis for guests. A power boat is available for a small fee.
The wilderness area is close by for adventure with outfitters nearby to help navigate any adventure you're seeking. Canoes, ATV's, and every supply you may need are available for rent.
I found the internet is limited here. Many/most businesses here don't have a strong presence on line. There are some real jewels here if you seek them out.

Garden Lake Resort is a very welcoming 4 cabin resort with an attentive onsite owner. Peaceful place to work remotely! Lots of snow this year for the snowmobilers. Resort is just 5 miles from downtown Ely. Will return soon.

I needed a retreat to work on writing a book. Garden Lake Resort was absolutely ideal. I completely fell in love with the place and can’t wait to go back! The location is stunning, the cabin was immaculately, clean, rustic, and with beautiful views. They had a countertop high slate table that I could lay chapters on, plus a dining table that seats eight so I had plenty of room to spread out. The owner was knowledgeable about local flora and fana. Since I was there alone, I felt very good about him checking in every once in a while. He chatted if I wanted to chat, but left me alone when I needed to work. I had one small end of season problem with the cabin which he took care of immediately. Ely has some wonderful restaurants. There’s some lovely places to hike nearby. There were boats available to get out on the lake. There’s also a small beach if you’d like to swim.

I was very disappointed in the hospitality of the new owner. Although the cabins were clean and comfortable, it was lacking the welcoming atmosphere we had enjoyed in years past. My only interaction with the owner was his complaints about water usage. He also falsely accused both of our families of damaging boat props and tried to charge us 200 dollars for each boat. In short, it was a beautiful place with a very ungracious host.

His website is by the previous owners and it was really nice ,but now that this guy has taken over NOT SO MUCH. He has no cleaning service come in to clean after people check out so it not a guarantee your bedding will be clean. He picks up trash when he feels like it.. we had to buy our own trash bags, big black ants around the decks of the cabin which he does nothing about so we purchased ant spray. He request people to take showers before 9pm because of some plumbing issue he has . Travelers just beware and take your own bedding and a can of Lysol because this place Is not as clean as he says it is, and oh your lucky if you even see this guy while your there.

We have been to garden lake resort twice in 2022, first in the winter and then again in June. Loved it both times - this is the perfect place for a relaxing time. The views from the cabins are amazing, the host is friendly and the beds are comfortable. We will definitely be back.

The several negative comments are retaliation from a family that was disinvited by the owner for egregious behaviors. The facility is very nice and well maintained. This is the North Woods where you would expect limited TV service, but Wi-Fi keeps you connected if you are interested in the outside world.

Garden Lake is under new ownership. The new owner cares nothing about you. If you make a reservation it may or may not get canceled, depends on what kind of mood the owner is in. You also have no idea if your cabin will be clean upon arrival or if you will have to do it yourself.
You’re better off paying a little more money and staying somewhere else.

We have stayed at Garden Lake Resort multiple times over the years and have always enjoyed our stays. This time was no exception. The Bears Den cabin is our favorite and was clean as usual. You can't beat the view of these cabins. The dock and boat accommodations are excellent. Fishing was quite good, even this late in the year. Tim, the new owner, was very accommodating in rescheduling our booking due to COVID and a death in our family in 2021 and 2022 ... much appreciated! We highly recommend this place.

Four cabins, each two bedrooms, including extra sleeping space in the living rooms. Deck and docks, boats and a small beach. Everything you need for a proper up north get away. Tucked in a lovely location just 10 minutes drive from downtown Ely.
