So many good things to say about this place. Easy to get to. Right on the lake. They have everything you might need right on site: firewood, ice, canoes, charcoal and lighter fluid for the grill on the deck, cozy accommodations, great hiking trails on the property, a playground, and two of the friendliest cats every. Seriously, the cats were our 6 and 8 year old’s favorite part. The Kawishiwi Falls is literally right across the highway and is a beautiful hike. We did it twice! The only thing I thought could have been better? The WiFi wasn’t available the entire time we were there. Not a big deal since we came up here to get away, but when the website says they’ve got it, you kind of expect it.
This place was so refreshing and easy. Its beautiful little cabins close to town but also a lake and a waterfall. My 10 year old son had a blast on the swings but also with the kittens! The hosts were so kind to let them roam outside all day hence my son was with them frequently. Very clean, cozy and very reasonably priced. Really you cant go wrong.
So my wife and 10 yo son just checked out yesterday from cabin 7, and let me tell you this - it was perfect. Sometimes you get to a resort and don't recognize it from the website photos, but this one was better than we thought. We travel alot from Vermont to California to these types of resorts on lakes or seaside, so we know what we're talking about. The cabin was very clean and ready to use, and the owners, who are really friendly, on site alot, and welcoming, have really put together a great place. Theres real "hospitality" there, they know how to run a place.. Theres a hike to a falls nearby. They have free canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and even one of those foot pedal boats. We faced the lake from our cabin, as did our deck that came with chairs and a picnic table. Also on site, in the little yard of our space, was our own firepit. Inside the cabin, there is a kitchen stocked (pots, pans, cutlery, plates and cups) with the stuff you'd need, incl a micro, an oven, fridge and freezer. Overall great experience. We'll be back. Its just a couple miles out from Ely, so you are close to town.…
We've made 2 trips up there this summer and we will absolutely be back! Chad and his team are so friendly and go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay... We went up for the weekend but we could have stayed for a week and not gotten bored. Whether you're into water activities, hiking, or shopping in the fun downtown, Deer Ridge is the spot you want to be. I can't say enough about our time there!
This was my first trip up to Ely and it did not disappoint! Deer Ridge Resort is everything you'd hope for on a vacation up north. Rustic, peaceful, serene and immersed in nature. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating - they have boats, fishing poles, kayaks and canoes for use which made outdoor activities extremely accessible. The cabins were super cute and clean and had everything you'd need to make dinner on your porch - including a grill. We'd come back for sure again in the future!
