My wife brought me here for my birthday in November. This location is beautiful in the Winter and makes you appreciate even more how warm, inviting, and cozy the inside is. The hosts are very welcoming, kind, and make a great breakfast!
Fall is one of our favorite times of year, so we decided to drive to Ely, Minnesota the last week of September to see the colors and enjoy the magnificent Boundary Water Canoe Area. It is definitely one of the most beautiful places in the world! The Blue Heron B&B was the perfect place to stay, nestled in the trees on the shores of Farm Lake. We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts by their big window, canoeing into BWCA and several hiking adventures. It was the perfect getaway! Thank you Tiffany and staff for making our stay perfect – and safe!
This place was just so peaceful. Owners were gracious and accommodating. Excellant breakfast even during Covid-19. Lots of amenities and you couldn’t ask for a nicer place to stay in area. Canoes and kayaks for use and will even help with things to do in area.
The BHBB offered a much needed escape from the heaviness of the Twin Cities: the increasing Covid, politics, social unrest. After speaking with Tiffany, we felt that Covid safety was a priority. With only 5 guest rooms and breakfast seating very well spaced inside and outside on the deck, we loved the ambiance of having our breakfast daily on the deck, enjoying the occasional sounds of the birds in the overall stillness and quiet of the area. With no TV as a distraction, we enjoyed evenings on our upper deck playing cards and having a glass of wine, interrupted only with an occasional loon call. We took advantage of the complimentary kayaks as we ventured into the stillness and quiet of the Boundary Waters for a few hours. The morning water was like glass, the only sound being from the paddle gently entering the water. We took an afternoon excursion to Kawishiwi Falls, which offered amazing photo opportunities. The trail leading to the falls is less than a mile round trip, but remember to wear good shoes as some sections are not for the faint of heart! The restaurants in Ely are limited. After a lovely breakfast at BHBB, we managed the rest of the day by having a cheese and fruit snack for lunch, and going to Ely for an early dinner, either outside seating at Grand Ely Lodge or take out elsewhere to enjoy on our upper deck. A small shared refrigerator on our 2nd floor was just enough to store a few daily drinks and cheese/beef snacks. In summary, BHBB definitely fit what we wanted, a few days to get away from the stress in a Covid safe and relaxing environment, with recognition of Tiffany as a welcoming and congenial host.…
