Room was super nice. Breakfast was excellent. Tiffany was a super host. Can't wait to return next year.... and maybe again this winter! They have canoes with life jackets, a fire pit with wood. The whole area is beautiful.

I felt this place was nice but just ordinary. The hosts were certainly gracious and accommodating. The place was clean and had a great location next to the beautiful boundary waters. But the walls were really thin and the couple in the room next to ours were snorers and they kept snorting all night waking us up. And there certainly wasn't anything special about the breakfasts: bacon, eggs and toast. I would have expected a less common breakfast it being a bed and breakfast and all. It was a 15 minute drive to town which was kinda inconvenient. It was a nice ordinary B&B- nothing more and nothing less.

Hello, First and foremost thanks again for staying with us at the Blue Heron Bed and Breakfast (BHBB). Your kind comments about Tiffany and I and the cleanliness of the BHBB property are greatly appreciated. The BHBB absolutely has great location next to the beautiful and pristine 1 million plus acres of The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. We are so fortunate to live and own a business in this area that a stones throw away or just a few strokes of the paddle you can be hiking and/or paddling in such a unique part of the world. It is disappointing to read the 3 star review and the other comments as we strive for nothing shy of a 5 star review and to go above and beyond to provide you with an unforgettable experience that makes you want to return to the Ely area again. The BHBB is a very sound, solid well constructed log and framed home. The room 'So Forth' you stayed in is one of our nicest upstairs corner rooms that has a walk-out to a second story deck and only has one shared wall with another room. I am sorry to hear the guests next to you the second and third night of your stay were noisy enough through the night to keep you up. Please let us know next time and we can try to find a solution i.e. a room change. As far as our breakfast go this is really a first to hear for us since we took ownership in June of 2018. We provide a made from scratch large country style breakfast each morning. I asked Tiffany to recall the meals you had each morning. Morning 1- Sausage and goat cheese frittatas with pan fried potatoes and onions and peppers, along with 12 grain toast, strawberry or grape jam and a small bowl of fresh fruit. To drink we provided freshly made coffee, tea, orange juice and/or water. Morning 2- Oven baked blueberry pancakes with locally sourced (southern MN) maple syrup and bacon drizzled with a bournilla maple syrup from the same locally sourced company. This breakfast also came with a small bowl of fresh fruit and to drink we provided freshly made coffee, tea, orange juice and/or water. Morning 3- Egg sausage and cheddar stuffed croissant wrap along with a hash brown nests with parmesean cheese sprinkled on top. This breakfast also came with a small bowl of fresh fruit and to drink we provided freshly made coffee, tea, orange juice and/or water. The BHBB is located just 8.9 miles from town (Google Maps) which does normally take 12-15 minutes. However it does provide not only a setting next to the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness but to a very private, quite and secluded property. Once again thanks for staying with us and we hope to have the opportunity to have you as a guest again. Your friends up north, Chad and Tiffany Davis

We wanted to get away for Labor Day, so we booked their last room available - the β€œSo On” room, which was lovely. A bit of a small bed for us who love their king size bed, but I loved the decor. I love the whole decor in the place! This is a good value - there are only five rooms, three upstairs that have access to a shared balcony, and two on the first floor. Each room has its own sink, shower, and toilet. I like the second floor. We had the smallest room, but it had a lovely heron tapestry over the bed and it was just fine for two nights. In the common room on the second floor, they had a small refrigerator for you to use to store food or beer/wine. This place is right on Farm Lake and they have canoes and kayaks they loan out. They have a wood burning sauna and a fire pit - the outside is gorgeous. And Tiffany & Chad are just delightful hosts. Tiffany made the most delicious breakfasts - and getting to know the others staying at the house was a treat. They have nice clientele and most were returning guests - what does that tell you? We will be back! They are open year round and are a short drive into Ely, as well as to trails that are in the Boundary Waters. A romantic kind of place too!

Lovely rustic, secluded property located right on a lake. Comfortable beds and bedding with ample common areas. Good WiFi. Tiffany the owner was easy to deal with for reservations and questions. Delicious baked blueberry pancake with OJ. No choices for breakfast but a different selection provided each day.

We had an amazing stay nestled in on Farm Lake that flows into the BWCA. Wonderful staff, delicious breakfasts and gorgeous sunsets. It was our anniversary and when we checked in, we had an anniversary card and a bottle of champagne waiting for us.πŸ’•
