Just returned home after a wonderful relaxing stay at the South Pier Inn. Watching the ships come and go is always the highlight of our trip to Duluth. We try to get there once a year and would never think of staying anywhere else. The rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast has many choices. The entire staff is friendly...

Harbor view room was quiet and peaceful. Beautiful views and lots to see. Best of all is that you don't need to drive anywhere if you don't want to. Canal park is just across the bridge and being able to walk there and not look for parking is a huge plus of this location. Going the other way you've got...

We have chosen the South Pier Inn for many years when we are looking for the peaceful weekend getaway without the noise and crowds of the other large hotels. The harbor view rooms provide an up close experience of the ships entering and leaving the harbor through the canal. Many restaurant options within walking distance.

My family absolutely loved this place. Friendly staff, clean rooms and comfortable with million dollar views. It was amazing to see ocean liners as tall as the building itself passing right outside our room window. The location is outstanding at the foot of the historic lift bridge. We walked over the bridge to all of Duluth's famous Canal Park shops...

Nice place! Enjoyed our view of the water and the jacuzzi tub w/fireplace. We'll definitely be back again, but were disappointed with breakfast. We arrived an hour before breakfast was scheduled to be over and there wasn't much left (it's a small selection to begin with, but not bad). The girl at the counter was a bit aggressive in telling...

A really special lodging. We stayed in the Penthouse suite, a spacious, modern living room/bedroom/wetbar arrangement with views of Duluth and the mouth of the river. There were so many great luxe touches: super high-quality mattress, microfiber sheets so nice that I pulled the tag out and ordered my own set for home, binoculars and a spotting scope to watch...

The South Pier Inn on the Canal was a very nice experience. The room was clean and spacious with a Scandinavian accent. We had a balcony view of Lake Superior and had the good fortune to see the first ship of the season go under the lift bridge. The continental breakfast offered all we that needed and the hotel staff...

We stayed in the lower panoramic suite. It was absolutely beautiful. Just wish we would have known it was not shipping season so no boats came through. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Light continental breakfast.

Absolutely stellar on all fronts: Room was spacious, with a gas fireplace, lounge chairs, mini refrigerator and hot tub. View was spectacular, and the provision of binoculars to better watch the ship traffic was really thoughtful. Toiletries were great as well.
