We just spent 2 nights at the South Pier Inn for our anniversary. The rooms are beautiful, and the staff and amenities are great. Located at the base of the lift tower, right on the canal, and within comfortable walking distance of the retail, food, and gift district. Known for being the number one Inn for boat watching. Went to sleep both nights, looking at the Duluth skyline, looking out over the bay. I have stayed in motels for over 40 years. These rooms are beautiful. The staff are fantastic. The room (#802) had a great view of the ore boats leaving the Twin Ports and going to the Aerial Lift Bridge. Easy walk to shops and restaurants, and the Lift Bridge. 2nd time we have stayed here, and we love it. Highly recommend it, especially to fellow boatnerds!!

The South Pier Inn is a charming hotel very close the the Lift Bridge in Duluth. Everyone on the staff was accommodating and friendly. Our balcony had a table and chairs which were perfect to enjoy the breezes off Lake Superior. Super clean!

by far, and I mean by far one of the bestest places we have the pleasure to stay.. I mean c’mon, the jacuzzi, the fireplace, the most comfortable bed ever, and a personal balcony to watch the “Lakers” cruise by..the most wonderful experience. Thank you South Pier Inn..well done!!

The sheets were the softest ever. Have to find out what they were made of, I understand they get washed very frequently but wow, they were awesome. The room was very clean, staff friendly, view beautiful, so close to canal park. We enjoyed it very much.

The hotel is absolutely amazing! It's right on the water and surrounded by shops, theaters, restaurants, ariel bridge, and so much beauty. Rooms have whirlpool baths, a fireplace , comfortable bed, shower, television and DVD player. I found my number one go to place when I visit Duluth. Staying at the South Pier Inn was just what I needed. Truly amazing. The staff is friendly and very helpful.

Fantastic mini getaway! Whirlpool tub, fireplace, fantastic view of canal and harbor! So close to the ships you can see the sailors faces. Bridge and hillside are lovely when all lit up at night. Very good continental breakfast in the morning, fruit, pastries and snacks all day long.
