My husband and I had the privilege of being guests at the Ellery House B&B in Duluth, MN the weekend of August 5th-7th, 2022. We were in town to attend a wedding and wanted to enjoy a stay in a quiet and relaxing property rather than the usual bustling hotel. We had a wonderful time enjoying Jim's hospitality -- he and his wife have owned the B&B for 30+ years. We stayed in the Ellery Suite, which offered plenty of room for us along with a balcony deck where we enjoyed our coffee and tea in the morning. The breakfasts served in our suite were fantastic -- fresh fruit each morning, with stuffed French toast and maple bacon one morning, and a ham and cheese casserole accompanied by strawberry rhubarb muffins the second morning. We slept well in the comfortable bed and felt very pampered -- we left feeling refreshed and happy. Thank you, Jim, for the wonderful welcome and we look forward to our next stay at the Ellery House!

We were in Duluth and the North Shore area to enjoy fall colors. Our stay at the Ellery House was fantastic! It was beautiful and very clean. Jim’s hospitality was superb, and his breakfast was nothing short of amazing! Would love to stay there again sometime.

What a lovely stay in a beautiful neighborhood! We stayed at the Ellery House over the winter holiday. (Note, this review is during COVID, we were the only guests in the house, and Jim, the innkeeper, took multiple precautions to keep himself and us safe). The place was super quiet, clean, and situated on the NE end of Duluth with easy access to downtown and the North Shore towns. Jim was super responsive and attentive to any need. You can tell he enjoys what he does and is enthusiastic about his city, which is always a pleasure to see/experience when traveling. He is also a great cook! We would definitely return. We stayed in the Daisy Suite. Photos show 1 breakfast, part of the bathroom (which has a tub and shower), and the day room adjoining the bedroom (no photo bc we didn't get one before we unpacked).

I have to start off by first mentioning Jim, the host. He was amazing. I know, B&B hosts really need to be "amazing" to be a success but when you find out Jim has been a B&B host for 31 years you realize, he is REALLY AMAZING to STILL BE as patient, welcoming, sincere, inquisitive and thoughtful, as he was to us all these years later. You get burned out - Jim, if he was, didn't show it. He was BEYOND patient with my numerous phone calls (and I mean, "numerous") and he never skipped a beat. Answered them and was always willing to accommodate whatever it was I inquired about. So, that's Jim - know you've already started out on a good foot if he's at the helm. The accommodations - PERFECT. We were in town on business and the place was in a perfect location of downtown Duluth - not in the middle of the hustle and bustle but just a blip down the road in a quiet residential area. The breakfast - DELICIOUS!!!! he has mastered the art of cooking. The Rhubarb muffins were out of this world and honestly, I was afraid to eat something with Rhubarb but when he went to the trouble to have homemade muffins waiting for us in the morning, along with the scrumptious egg casserole, I wanted to be polite and try them. Oh, my gosh!!! They were soooo good. So, everything just worked - the host, the food, the accommodations, the location - just all worked!!! We'd totally return. Thank you, Jim!

We stayed 2 nights and we must say this was the best experience ever. Jim, the owner, is an amazing innkeeper. He is so welcoming, so knowledgeable of the area, always willing to make recommendations on restaurants, trails, and day trips. His breakfasts are amazing, very elaborate and decorative, great flavors, very generous portions. Our room, the Daisy suite had a large bedroom, great bath, and an oh so comfortable sunroom. We hope to return in the future and we thank him for sharing his home and even his 2 dogs. Simply a first rate experience!

A beautiful Victorian home that somehow feels... like home! Jim is such a gracious, friendly, and helpful host (not to mention a fabulous cook!). The lovely, historic atmosphere gives you a taste of the past whilst enjoying all the comforts of today. The perfect accommodations (cozy robes, romantic fireplaces, & cookies, cocoa, and coffee always available!) make this place more than worthy of your time. My only complaint is that it is right on a pretty busy street, and is a bit loud in the morning.

Our Daughter, who lives in St. Paul, picked the Ellery House for our accommodations during our brief visit to Duluth. This B&B has been in the business for quite a while and the Ellery House does show its age but Jim was an excellent host and his breakfast was outstanding. He offered many good suggestions on things to see and do in Duluth. We were not disappointed and enjoyed our brief one-night stay very much.

We had a wonderful stay at the Ellery House in Duluth. Jim and Joan are the perfect hosts. Jim gave us great dinner recommendations and suggestions on what to do while in Duluth. Our room was clean and very comfortable. There were three of us and our accommodations suited us perfectly. The breakfasts were delicious and we enjoyed visiting with the other guests and Jim each morning. Such a pleasant experience. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Duluth.

We had never stayed in a B&B before, Jim made us feel at home, was very gracious and helpful. Our hotel had overbooked for a summer friday night, and every hotel/motel within 20 miles booked. We decided to check out B&B's on google maps, this is now about 8 pm after searching for well over an hour for a hotel, called The Ellery House, they had a cancellation, so we decided to give B&B a try. House is charming, our room was lovely, we stayed in the Ellery Suite. We had our 9 year old granddaughter with and the suite had a nice love-seat with pullout twin bed in sitting room - she loved it. Jim made up the twin bed while we went to grab some late supper. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic - fresh fruit, homemade strawberry rhubarb muffins & featherbed eggs. Plenty to eat and lovely visit with another couple and Jim during breakfast. Thanks JIm for a lovely stay and for accommodating us so late at night. We will be back in the future! Larry, Vicki & Kaedynce
