When I was reading the reviews for this place I was expecting the worst but my experience turned out to be pretty good! The casino was a 5 star experience and the room was a 2 star. The buffet is amazing, and would recommend it for every meal, make sure to sign up for the players card before you check... More

Over all it is a good place to stay. Casino is nice, staff is great, buffet and food is awesome, rooms are spacious and clean enough. You have to remember this is a casino so there is a lot of smokers. So if you are not a smoker beware of the smell but you will get use to it just... More

We stayed in the tower rooms during fishing opener weekend. I was scared after reading some of the other negative reviews; but our room was really clean and much nicer than expected. Modern/appeared to have been remodeled recently. It was also very quiet up on the floors; but still smelled of smoke. I really had a hard time breathing on... More

We were disappointed in our rooms; the reviews here about non smoking rooms still smelling of smoke were true. It's really too bad, the hotel was suitable in every other way (cleanliness, friendly staff, convenient coffee/ice cream shop). If something can be done about the smoke we would consider returning but until then most likely not

We reserved a golf "Play and Stay" package at Black Bear for two days of golf and one night in the older hotel. The golf course staff provided great service, food and a well maintained golf course. You will lose a few balls, due to the tight fairways but they have a beautiful course. Now, about the hotel. The only... More

The hotel was almost at capacity so we ended up taking a poolside room knowing it would be excessively noisy and it did not disappoint on this front. The room was clean and nicely setup. Staff service was very good at every interaction. Would not hesitate to stay again.

Older section of hotel definitely needs work but still a better deal than motels in Duluth. The casino is nice and buffet is good wth plenty of selections. Pool was packed with kids so not really adult friendly. I'm not complaining because kids need something to do. There is a video game room on first floor. This casino is only... More
