We went to the Lodge at the end of March for a final downhill ski weekend. The slopes were fabulous, and not a huge crowd. We stayed at the Lodge, which was ski in and out so super easy and convenient. We were in room 343, which was just the perfect size for our family of 3. It was very clean and comfortable and the kitchen had all the amenities needed to make meals. The two restaurants on site gave us the variety we wanted when we didn't want to cook. Our 10 year old daughter loved the indoor pool, and hot tub. Fantastic family get away! We will be back this summer to check out all the summer activities here as well - The Lodge and surrounding area is a hidden gem!

We love this rustic feel of The Lodge! There is everything here: Alpine and Nordic skiing, tubing, fat tire biking, snowmobiling, golf, a climbing wall and ATV trails...a four season playground! Our room was on the top floor with a slope side view! Our Premium slope side room 343 has a king bed, a fireplace and a whirlpool tub. There is a kitchen with a dishwasher, refrigerator, convection microwave and all of the dishes and utensils. There are 4 restaurants on site and a beautiful pool and hot tub on the lower level. This is a hidden secret to Minnesota and we definitely be back to The Lodge at Giant’s Ridge.

The 2 bedroom was amazing for a family of 4 with teens. We were a little worried about the kitchen with no stove BUT the ninja oven and the industrial convection microwave did the job just fine. With a high risk family member we took a lot of precautions with COVID but this lodge was amazing. We were able to rent the night before to have it empty for 50% off and it was much cleaner than our visit to lutsen sea villas. The staff is amazing, the arcade the tables and chairs in the lobby allowed us to meet a few friends and meet at a nice distance. We can’t wait to go back and try the restaurant ( Friday night all you can eat walleye fish fry!!) Any questions let me know this won’t be our last visit

We were here for a ski meet. Great location with ability for ski in and ski out… but not for the races. We had to drive down the resort road for that, since the races are at far viewers left, and the lift behind the lodge isn’t running in time for racers to make it over for inspection. Clean condo, large bathroom, nice mattress. Great lighting. The pull out couch was just a futon, so not really usable. They have a convection hot plate and microwave/oven combo. It would be crowded for a family, but it was great for 2. The hallway noise carries a bit. In general, this is far nicer than your average Midwest ski lodge. But that’s what you get when the taxpayers are footing the bill…

We stayed over MLK weekend for three nights on the third floor (top floor). It was an easy ski in and ski out. We just took the elevator down to the lower level and went straight out onto the slope and it was close to the primary ski lift/chalet. The room (1 bedroom with murphy bed) was a bit small for 2 adults/2 kids but fine. We opted for a hillside view room with fireplace and whirlpool tub. I would say that was worth the extra. The restaurant in the hotel was pretty good. Staff was friendly and helpful. The downside was it was a bit noisy with lots of people in hallways and not very good sound insulation. We didn't feel totally comfortable using the pool and hot tub since they were inside and usually crowded. We have also stayed at the Villas and at the Greengate units. I would say both places are "nicer" than the Lodge in terms of furnishings, appliances, and overall feel. But neither are technically ski in/ski out like the Lodge. The differences seem pretty minor overall but noticeable. That is the trade off, convenience to ski (or golf) versus a more luxury feel to the lodgings. The only thing that I really wished that the Lodge had was a space on the lower lever to store skis and boots rather than having us take them back to our room where space was limited. They seemed to have a room near the front desk with racks for mountain bikes but they said they didn't have one for skis.

I took my teenage son with me this time for hiking and mountain biking. Both were right there by the lodge. It's dog friendly too so that is a bonus if we can bring the dog. We were in a 2 bedroom which gave both my son and I space to do our own thing. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is a small kitchen for those wanting to do some of their own cooking. The teenager said he had fun so that was a bonus too! Would definitely stay here again.

I’m sure the lodge can be hopping, but on 7/6 thru 7/8 it was lonely with very limited services. Perhaps it was COVID? However they said they were packed on the 4th of July weekend. With the hotel running with maybe 20% occupancy, the services were showing that way - the Bar and restaurants were closed but for the weekend. The temperature in the room was fixed - not able to go below 74 or 75 degrees- certainly the room wasn’t cleaned or made up either day. The rental services for bikes and other things to do were hard to find at the chalet building and closed early so I guess hiking was our only option (which was fine, as there was not traffic on the bike path anyway). The Legends golf course was excellent with food and drinks available at the 1st and 10th tees - no on course service carts. We drove to the Quarry restaurant- Wacootah Grill 3 miles away dinner 1 night - very nice food and great service. Also Vi’s Pizza and TNT bar was a great option for pizza (downtown Biwabik) It appeared the spa at the hotel was open (if you make a reservation) as they give you a $5 coupon - however we called at 4:30 pm and it rang and rang no answer or voice mail. The 4 or 5 pieces of equipment in the exercise room all worked as you would hope. If you want to use a Kayak or canoe, they are for the Villas guests and not the Lodge guests- as they are not connected. I guess I will ask more questions next time. The place seemed rustic and clean and the staff seemed nice however- considering it was a ghost town, the front desk didn’t add much from a guidance standpoint on things to do. The golf experience is why this gets a 2 otherwise it would be a 1 as we really had hoped for more- as we thought we were paying for more than a room.

Played the course twice on a rainy cool day. Still enjoyed it it a lot. Took advantage of the replay rate on second round, this is cheaper than the twilight rate. Was surprise the full fall rate was not reduced from their summer rate, just under $100 US. Bring your own GPS or Rangefinder as cart do not provide yardage. If it is wet expect cart path only. Tee boxes are mostly raised so your legs get a workout as there are no stairs to use. Staff are friendly and in September pace of play was around 4 hours. Played my Replay rate alone and did so in 3 hours. Very good driving range areas included, as is chipping area. the chipping area doubles as putting green so that was a bit unexpected and didn’t give a good sense of actual greens speed. FYI, they do allow singles to make bookings, which is nice.

So the review title is pretty lame but for us it was a good location for what we planned on doing. We went to tour the iron range on a day trip. We had a two bedroom co do. The lodge is typical of a northwoods lodge., it. Is. Very cLean, nice bar and restaurant. It was July and we took our cooler our to the common area deck and watched the birds and sunset for two lovely happy hours after long days. Everyone was friendly. The price point was steep for Not having it’s own private deck or balcony...I’ve stayed in 3 Airbnb since MAy in 3 other states and this One costs more then all of the others combined. We booked it for convenience. I’d stay there again. Lovely quiet clean but nothing exceptional for the price.
