First and foremost, my kids (ages 2 and 4) adored this place. The water park was fantastic and super age appropriate for little kids as well as bigger ones. The separate little kids' area was appreciated and my 2yo was safe and happy the whole time with minimal parental involvement. There were plenty of other little ones and it certainly wasn't overrun with big kids (although there were plenty of big kids also having a ton of fun). The water park was clean and my kids loved being able to see it through the windows in the corridor by our room. We got a suite (4 bunk beds in a separate room; king bed in another separate room; living room/kitchenette in the middle) and it worked well, though could have used some updating.

However, we were really disappointed with the breakfast. For the price of the room I would have expected a cooked breakfast but there were just a lot of packaged things.

Parking was easy and the 371 diner close to the hotel was awesome.

I don't normally write reviews, but this place was great. First - the beds were nice Serta beds. Something that can easily be forgotten when looking at pictures of a place. The indoor water park was loved by my kids. Unlike another waterpark that we've previously went to, this place actually is staffed well and always has staff watching the pools and cleaning stuff up. The snack area was nice - I liked that I could charge stuff directly to my room. The area had stuff for most ages of kids - very small, little, and then 2 larger waterslides that would be good for lower teens even. My family had a great experience here.

This hotel was nice. It was clean and inviting when you walked in. The room was updated and clean for the most part. The pull out bed sheet was a bit dirty and under the pull out was full of crumbs and a couple old toys. The other room in our party smelled strong of cleaning chemical. While they appreciated a clean room, the chemicals being used to clean were very potent.

The waterpark was fun and does have an outdoor hot tub. The waterpark itself could use a paint refresh. Lots of chipped and bubbly paint. Our kids loved it and the tube water slide is pretty fast. Overall i would recommend and stay again. Good value.

I have been coming to Brainerd for years, because it’s a great place to get away, relax, and have a good time. Normally I stay at the Holiday Inn Express but this time decided to try a different hotel. Big mistake!

There are several reasons why my family will not be returning to Rapid River Lodge. For starters, when I checked in I did not get a warm, welcoming smile. I did not get a thank you for choosing us. What I got was someone who hardly looked at me and seemed as though she was on autopilot. Another thing that was disappointing was that the employees smoke right in front of the door. This does not present a good image for the hotel. There should be a separate, private area for employees to smoke. Also, the bedsheets in our room had a stain on the corner up by the headboard. By the time I noticed it, there wasn’t any housekeeping available to change the sheets. My last reason for not returning to this hotel is the breakfast. We like to sleep in so we go to breakfast toward the end but still within reason (30min or so left). There was a lot of items that needed to be restocked but yet the attendant was just standing there. I witnessed on several occasions guests going up to her asking her for this or that. The food also simply did not taste good; it tasted as though it was outdated. The coffee was also horrible! Hotel coffee normally isn’t all that great, but I drink it. I could not drink this coffee. It was just nasty!

I will say that the water park was a lot of fun! My 12-year-old had a blast as did I so no complaints there!

Nonetheless, if you’re considering staying at the Rapid River Lodge I would reconsider. It’s not worth the money.

We had a great stay here. Friendly front desk, nicely updated and clean rooms including a sitting area in addition to the double queen beds. The third floor is definitely the quietest, as both the first and second floor will get some carryover noise from the lobby if it’s busy, due to the open stairwell. The water park is very warm- bring shorts if you’re stuck watching the kids! They do not allow carry in drinks there. Walking distance to multiple restaurants- both Grizzly’s and Prairie Bay were great. Breakfast was as expected, I appreciated the fresh apples and bananas. The kids loved the hot chocolate in the lobby.

Only complaint- admittedly it was a bit loud in the lobby one night, but an employee somehow thought it was a good idea to use a blowhorn from the second floor balcony around 10:30 pm to get everyone’s attention. Not sure waking up half the hotel was a smart move.

This is a busy place full of families and kids. It has been awhile since I have ventured into a family hotel and was a little nervous about chaos potential, but my fears were for naught ;). The staff was energetic, patient, friendly and attentive. The water park had two lifeguards who were very mindful of their responsibilities. I couldn’t do what these folks do every busy weekend with such grace.

This is a recently renovated hotel that includes a water park. The rooms are clean and spacious. The water park had a rubberized surface that is very comfortable to walk on. There were two large water slides - one for tubing and one for sliding without a tube. There is a wading pool with 2 small slides for younger children as well - it includes as splash pad fountains. The hot tub is extends from inside to outside. Pizza, soft drinks, and snacks are available poolside. The staff was helpful and engaging. Breakfast was similar to what is now offered at many hotels. The price for a night’s stay is very reasonable. Surprisingly, the water park was not very busy - I suspect once the place is discovered, it will become busier.

A group of friends and our toddlers stopped for a fun evening at the water park. We were so impressed at the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel.
A huge thank you to Nick in the water park. He made us feel very safe with the kids and made sure we were having fun. He is very good at his job! I wish I could remember the name of the woman at the front desk, she was also very kind and committed to her job. What an awesome place with great people!

It was a great place to stay with my grandkids for the weekend. The room was clean the pool area was also in perfect shape. It was everything we expected. I do wish they would not allow to have the lifeguards carry cellphones. The few interactions I had with them to ask a question, I had to get their attention off their phone. With the exception of the older gentleman on Saturday who did a fantastic job watching and taking care of the pool area to make sure the tubes were put back and table and chairs were put back. I was thankful I was not relying on the young ones. Maybe a mat of something outside of the pool area would benefit the littles coming out of the pool area. Tile is very slippery when wet. The breakfast was amazing. Staff kept it stocked and clean. Over all it was a great stay. Clean and so friendly.

The water park has been recently updated. It is very clean and bright. They have a play area with a zero entry for smaller kids. The water slides and lazy river were a hit for my 8 and 10 year. The adults enjoyed the hot tub that was indoors and outdoors. This waterpark was a bit smaller then some that we have been to, but we appreciated the smaller crowd. The beds were comfortable and everything seemed clean. The breakfast had many options for our family.

This hotel is in Baxter, Minnesota, a solid 2.5-3 hour drive from the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. Call the hotel for water park openings.

If you are staying there the water park is free. If friends come over there probably is a charge. You'd have to contact the hotel.

A nice little water park. can't remember exactly what they would have for little ones, but there was an area for them. When we stayed just after the school year started, the water park was open Sunday all day, but only till noon on Monday, then not open till Friday again. School age kids as lifegaurds= Nice kids!!!
