Detailed Reviews
My Dad who is 89 said he wanted to go ice fishing. Well for sure I better plan that! We had 12 guys and had an awesome weekend for my Dad to remember. The minute we walked in the bar tender Melody found out about our trip for my Dad and she immediately bought him a drink and came over to introduce herself and said we will be sure you have a great time! Each night we had a great time and Melody was always making sure my Dad was having fun! She even had her husband who drives people to the ice shacks make sure my Dad sat in the front seat of the car versus riding in the trailer. The cabins were clean and nice, the ice houses were nice and we did ok we caught 25 and 35 fish per day . Overall I would recommend Riverbend resort where we truly did feel like we were treated like family and the Bar/ Restaurant is really nice with pull tabs!!! Thank you for making our trip full of memories for my Dad and for all of us to remember! Especially Melody and the waitress!!!!!

Brian and his staff went above and beyond during our stay at River Bend's Resort. We suffered a significant boating incident while getting caught in a storm on Lake of the Woods. When Brian had noticed our boat was not in the slip, he began calling to check in on us. Fortunately, we were safe, but very cold and wet. Brian drove his personal vehicle as close to shore as he could and gave my cousin and I a ride back to the resort to warm up. Long story short, Brian and his staff did everything in his power to ensure we were safe and enjoyed our stay despite our boating incident.

Nice cabins and ice houses, as good or better than competing resorts that I've used in the area. Friendly staff that takes good care of you. On time for morning and afternoon transport. Can't really ask for more. They keep up with the fish as good or better than other resorts as well, moving us when things slowed down.

Did the ice fishing package with the resort and Walleye Inn. Inn was under construction/remolding. Debris was all throughout the hallway and the room was not fully put back together. This really wasn’t an issue for us since we only slept there. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The ice fishing portion of this package was the nightmare. There were 3 of us in the party and we each paid for the pole rental along with 1 flasher. On day 1, after arriving to the hut we noticed we had no poles or flasher. We assumed the poles, and everything would be in the hut when we arrived. Told the guide, he looked and said ok, got back in his vehicle and drove off. Wasn’t sure if he was returning or not. A different guide showed up with 2 poles, one had the handle on the reel missing. The guide then went back and grabbed 4 more poles leaving the broken pole with us. It was roughly an hour and a half before we were able to start fishing. Day 2 guides did not check on us as advertised and we had to call the resort at 2pm (they come to pick you up at 4:30pm) to ask why a guide hadn’t come to check on us. We literally watched the guide leave a hut that a few of the guides had been parked outside all day, come over and check on us. When he arrived, he made a sarcastic comment about the possibility of moving and I replied that at least we weren’t missing our poles today. He responded, “at least we got them to you”. As the guide left, he commented that he couldn’t make the fish bite. Totally understand that but they advertise they make sure you are catching fish and having fun. This was not the case that day. When the guide came to pick us up on day 2, the 4-wheel drive on his vehicle would not engage, got stuck and we had to get behind the vehicle and push him out so we could go pick up the other parties in our group. On day 2 we caught a total of 2 sauger under 9 inches early that morning. Both days, we were never provided, as their website states, hot tips regarding what the daily action had been or how to put more fish on the ice. We stopped by a bait shop close to the resort and talked to a local there and he gave us tips. We were transported in and out to the hut, told there were our minnows and the guides left. We ended up catching 15 fish total on day 1, one walleye was 24 inches, and the rest were under 16.
The staff at the restaurant and bar were wonderful. Bartender ensured we never ran out of anything to drink and the waitress who delivered our food to us was very friendly and always had a smile on her face. The fishing part was the disappointment.
I will add that we did contact the manager at the inn who relayed the information to the owners since they own both and still haven’t received a response.

Front end people were great, fishing guides were terrible. Fishing was sub par and for what they charge they need to keep up with moving houses to different areas. Instead, the guides if they show up to check on you feed you a bunch of malarkey. Been going to LOW for 30 plus years and will find a new resort for next year.

First off we had reservations for a sleeper house which got canceled due to ice thickness which I understand but they said they were going to put us up in a 3 bedroom lake side cabin. We get up there and we tried to pay your bill on three different occasions while being up there, they screwed it up royally I got eight different invoices from them random peoples credit cards on them. The bill doubled and then went to zero then doubled again they kept saying they’ll straighten it out but every time we try to pay, they said do it later. of getting a Lakeside cabin we got a trashed trailer home with no hot water a massive mold problem that reeked a microwave that didn’t work half the outlets didn’t work horrible plumbing the drains were constantly clogged and slow the toilet clogged with a fart and there was holes in the floor. You had to be careful where you walked because they covered the holes in the floors with carpet, the shuttles were late they told us we would be out fishing by 730. Most of the time we didn’t get out to the actual icehouse till almost 831 day they said to be there at 7 AM for pick up so we were there at 7 AM for pick up then they told us we won’t be going out till 830. The day houses suck. The towels were stained and disgusting. The fully stocked kitchen was a joke. Thank God I brought my own pans and spatulas. Will never stay with this resort again. The guides were actually decent, but the whole operation is poorly managed and disorganized. Apparently the day before we got up there they forgot to pick somebody up from one of the day houses whole situation was a freaking joke. And then they canceled on us even after telling us we’re gonna get a Lakeside cabin so I made reservations somewhere else and then less than 12 hours later they called us back and said we’re back on.

Riverbend Resort was all that we could have imagined and more! The resort was spotless, cabins the perfect setup for relaxing, socializing and fishing. The icing on the cake are the two owners Brandi and Paul. We loved it so much we are going back for ice fishing in January. You will not be disappointed!

This is our 4th fall going to River Bend. It is a great place for relaxing and fishing. We stayed in Cabin 4 next to the lodge and it was very nice and comfortable. The staff is wonderful and the food is great. Iris our Springer loves being there and everyone is so kind to her and pet friendly. They always have treats for her. We will be back next year.
