We drove 8 hours for a family vacation to Cyrus Resort to go ice fishing. The accommodation were clean, but the beds were very small and uncomfortable. There were 2 dogs howling and barking while we were trying to put our young kids to bed. Mike (one of the guides) was very rude and negative to us. I brought this to management's attention and was told that one of the owners would be in contact with me, but never received a call from them. We will not be returning next year. In fact, we have already found a different resort with way better customer service that we have booked with.

First time at Lake of the Woods. It was windy & hot but still had a great time. Staff very friendly & accommodating. Cabin was modern clean & had everything we needed. Air conditioning could have been a little cooler but it was in the 90’s which is unseasonably warm for up there. Guide Matt was awesome-felt very safe & he is a hard worker. Restaurant was very good also.

The entire staff at Cyrus is friendly, knowledgeable, and very anxious for us to have an enjoyable outing. I absolutely loved the Belgian waffles for breakfast!! The few issues that arose received prompt and courteous attention, and everything was done professionally! The guides offered help and tips that led to a limit of fish. These people are the best. Nothing could steer me to a different resort there, and I plan to spread the word!!

The bartender was horrible. She was so busy flirting with two different guys at the bar she would just walk past everyone else. I wish I would have gotten her name, she really needs to lose her job. I was waiting at the bar for a drink and another man came in and stood next to me, I said “good luck” and he looked at me like what?! 10 minutes later neither of us had a drink yet. She was truly terrible. I won’t be back.

We fished in Aug and Sept. Our guide was Matt and of all the times we have fished anywhere, Hawaii, Caymans, Lake Erie, ...this gentleman was the BEST. Courteous, knowledgeable andsure knew how to put you on the fish. Highly recommend him. You wont be disappointed.

My wife & I recently spent a 3 night, 2 day fishing trip at Cyrus Resort on Lake of the Woods. Nice clean cabin, friendly staff & very good food. The fishing was excellent. In spite of challenging weather, we limited both days on walleyes & saugers. Captain Pete led us to both quantity & quality including a number of 27" plus walleyes.

I have reviewed numerous resorts and hotels in 30 different countries. This was hands down the best place I have ever stayed. Lori the owner is the kindest, most gracious host I have ever experienced. Her laugh is so contagious I can still hear it in my brain. When you feel like customer service is lacking, just stay here. It will renew your faith in the human spirit. Whatever she charges just pay it. There is a no better owner in the business. The cabins are awesome. Just awesome. Her fishing guide CPT Pete will give you the experience of a lifetime. He does everything in his power to get you on fish. We absolutely pounded the walleye. But its fishing, sometimes they just dont bite, but I guarantee you will still tip the guy. His kindness and generosity cannot be beat. He cares about his customers more than any guide I have ever fished with His joking and poking fun will have you laughing until your belly hurts. Thank Pete for your inspiration in what you do. Go every year with a group of friends. We take a mini vacation and spend in the cabins. We have a guide take us fishing one day and even though I am classified as a "Princess" to my friends, I have a blast. The staff is great from the owner to the kids cleaning the fish. Food is amazing and the cabins are perfect.

3 rd visit to Cyrus Resort People ask me why I go all the way across the U.S. to fish “Lake of the Woods” nuff said! As far as the Cyrus: Great People, Great Service, very nice well maintained cabins and the facility runs like a “Well oiled Machine” Lori and crew “Get’s it” Hasstle free stay and a warm reception that is what a vacation is all about! Cyrus is the ticket!

While searching for a cabin near Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota, we found Cyrus Resort, and we consider it one of our best finds! Cyrus Resort is a fisherman’s paradise, with certified charter captains that will take you out to find walleye or other favorites, treat you to a noon lunch of fried fish, potatoes, and baked beans on one of the islands, and bring you back to their restaurant and lounge to clean and fry your fish. In winter, they have about 30 fishing shacks that they take care of for you, with heaters, some with beds, they check with you each day, provide ice roads for your travel, collect and clean your fish, and have them ready to take home when you leave. BUT, we don’t fish; we paint and write! And we went for walks, enjoyed their beautiful flowers and watched the boats. Each day, we walked over to the restaurant, had coffee and visited, in the evening, we stopped over for a beer, and on my husband’s birthday, we had a great steak from their full menu! The best part of the whole trip was the hospitality they showed us—taking a personal interest in us. Everyone on that staff knew how to listen, gave us interesting details about the area, and invited us back. Next time we want to bring our whole family!
