Guests frequently commend Louis Ionian Sun for its attentive service, particularly during special occasions, and appreciate its serene and scenic beachside location, albeit somewhat isolated. While the hotel is often described as clean and offering good value, some visitors feel the rooms and amenities, including the bathrooms and elevators, are in need of modernization. The family-friendly atmosphere is noted, but opinions vary, with some criticism directed at the dated decor and ambiance.

We stayed here from the 20th - 27th June as a family of four. First impression of the hotel was good, literally a stones throw from the beach, very hilly but we didn’t really find this a problem, as one pool is located at the bottom of the hill and one at the top (with kids slides).

Our room was clean, but I was expecting it to be bigger as the photos make it seem larger than it is, we obviously had to have two extra beds for our children and it was a squeeze! Sea views are absolutely stunning though, I’d highly recommend a sea view room. Cleaning was done daily, beds made and changed every other, floors mopped and fridge replenished with a bottle of water. The aircon is noisy and the doors quite thin so you can hear a lot from the corridors.

Pools were lovely, we found at the start of the week that there was enough sunbeds, but towards the last few days people were queuing at 9.30am ready for the gates to be unlocked at 10 to find a bed, they could do with more sunbeds especially at the top pool. Bottom pool bar is partly self serve but top bar is not. As for comments about noisy children, neither of these pools or the hotel is adults only, so I think these reviews are unwarranted.

Food was good in the restaurant, you’d only find it a problem if you’re a fussy eater to be honest. My children aged 3 and 7 always found things they liked too. Staff were exceptional in the restaurant also! Nothing is too much. Only ate down at the beach bar once, but it was ok, chips, sandwiches, ice cream.

The hotel really could do with some upgrading, it is extremely dated you can tell this just by walking down the corridors and general areas of the hotel. There is cracked floor tiles around the hotel.

I’d recommend a trip to Benitses, lots of bars and restaurants, only a short taxi trip and a bus to Corfu town was €6 one way for all of us. There is no where within walking distance, but tbh if you read up before you go you’ll know of this anyway.

Overall we had a lovely time, we would probably not visit again unless there was a major facelift on the hotel.

First visit to this hotel & after a wonderful stay I wanted to give a review of all the pros & cons that we found during our stay.

Location: The tranfer only took 20min from the airport & there are bus stops outside of the hotel which easily takes you to corfu town and various other places. I would say that the hotel is not walking distance to anything else. For us, we had everything we needed at the hotel so this wasnt an issue. The hotel has lifts but there are steps to the beach so if you have mobility issues you might struggle.

Rooms: We had a sea view & the view was fantastic. We had the sun in the mornings, if you want the sun in the afternoon I would book a garden view. The rooms themselves were clean, housekeeping came everyday & we received a bottle of water everyday. It was 2 single beds pushed together but this didnt bother us. We stayed on level4 which meant we werent close to the entertainment which was nice.

Food: There is a main restaurant for breakfast, lunch & dinner with a different theme every dinner. At the beach bar there is also a mini breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. We found this was a great aspect to the hotel as it meant there was always food available, especially if you sleep in or just want a light lunch. For our personal tastes the food was great.

Some additional points of note: You will find 2-3 wasps by the drinks machine. They were more interested in the beer & so fairly relaxed wasps in my opinion. There was a staff strike on 1 day but this only lasted till 11am and only occurred on 1 occasion.

Have been staying at Louis hotels for twenty-four years and never been disappointed. Couldn't believe the difference in standards at this hotel.
As soon as we walked into the room it was tired but thought we would make the most of it as the two children were with us and were only there for a week.
The maid came in one day with towels but did no cleaning or bed making and only topped the tea and coffee tray twice in that week.
The main pool was locked until ten am and closed at six. The bar staff and most of the dining staff were rude and although there was variety in the main restaurant the quality of the food was poor.
The entertainment at night was ok but in the day very inadequate with children sitting by the pool bar playing board games. There were a couple of slides at one of the pools which were dangerous, one of our children cut herself when reaching the end as very sharp. Wasps didn't leave us alone but obviously nothing to do with the hotel.
The drinks package was good but lacked the nice touch of champagne breakfast which the Louis hotels usually offer. During the day at the main pool bar they would have lunch with the lifeguard and close the bar with the exception of a male bar man who didn't do this.
Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as built into a Bill with many flights of steps and lifts totally inadequate.
This experience won't stop us booking with Louis again as they have given us many years of happy holidays,

Dated hotel with quite a few shortfalls, it is a 3 star hotel at best.
Hotel: old and needs refurbishment, furniture look and feel is dated. Many things are run down and need replacing
Food: main restaurant is the same food day after day with no real variation, it is cooked to an average standard. Beach bar food is good standard if you like gyros and chips
Drinks: limited variation of alcohol choice with upto around 9 variations of cocktails they will not go off the menu to make a bespoke cocktail/drink as they also do not stock any dark/spiced rum, whiskey, dissarano and many other standard alcohols you would find for cocktails
Room: air con barely works and does not keep the room cool, no wifi in room only available in reception area, tv is dated and limited channel choices and cannot connect to other media. Rooms are smaller than they appear in pictures by a lot. Bathroom contains rust and mould in places. Cant flush toilet roll and no bidet. Room cleaning is late and is not conducted at a reasonable time often left up until 4pm for room to be serviced and the clean is below standard
Hotel staff: friendly and mean well but not always helpful or attentive to guests, particularly the pool/beach bars
General advice: taxi services are terrible you can expect to wait up to 1 hour for a taxi sometimes and often feel stranded if it is departure/arrival time for the airport as most taxis will go to the airport for better business, i would suggest getting a hire car of you want to explore further than the resort as there is nothing within walking distance
The highlights: sea view is nice, pool looks nice, beach is nice but stoney, bed is quite comfortable
Not the worst hotel but ive stayed in MUCH better 3 stars for less

If you want a relaxing trip.. avoid, avoid, avoid!!
*Noise:There are screechy children EVERYWHERE! They have their own designated pool, then they take over the second pool, you try to escape to the beach, they’re everywhere there too!
Post-dinner drinks on the outside terrace.. they’re there screaming and running around up until midnight.
The hotel room doors bang shut and it is CONSTANT.
You have people going out in the middle of the night to put their towels on the best beds and slamming the doors as they go.
Staff are mostly lovely but they’re very loud, screaming over your head while you’re eating, shouting to each other setting up the beach bar at 7/8am when you hoped for an hours’ peace.
*Facilities: Hotel is very run down and desperately needs some TLC. Pictures look nice but reality is very outdated, rusty and a bit embarrassing.
Beach bar closes at 6, as does the pool and pool bar. Hotel bar closes at 12 and you’re asked to leave so you HAVE TO go to your room like naughty children. ‘Cocktails’ are what you’d find at a crap house party; cheap spirits and mixers in a carton.. expect constant heartburn.
Not enough sun beds at pool and beach, no chance after 9am. Towels left overnight to bag the best spots and people using extra beds to place bags and shoes! Hotel clearly don’t care about this.
There are no restaurants or bars nearby so you’re isolated to just the hotel and it’s beach and therefore their regimented hours for food and closures.
‘Late night bites’ are a bowl of stale peanuts.. very misleading if you’ve just missed dinner and hoped for a snack.
*Food: Absolutely shocking! I’m on day 5 of my ‘holiday’ and I’m yet to eat anything hot temperature, everything is cold or luke warm at best.
Nothing authentic, instead just confusing slop of all nationalities. Even the bread rolls are clearly frozen and then baked.
The restaurant is absolute chaos, you are constantly bumping into people and tripping over feral kids left to their own devices.

If you still want to go here and I must stress that you reconsider… definitely bring beach shoes for the pebble beach.
1.60€ for a bus into corfu town was a bargain but definitely ask where bus deport for return bus is as it is quite far from the initial drop off spot.
The bed linen and mattress were very nice but this can’t be enjoyed because of the door slamming and loud people passing your room. No chance of a post-sunbathing snooze or good nights’ sleep.

We arrived in the night due to a flight delay and was greeted by friendly staff and sandwiches/fruit in our room fridge. The rooms were lovely and clean, with amazing views of the sea. A private beach with a pool bar and food area, the lunchtime gyros were delicious. The staff were a credit to the hotel, when you were eating your plates were gone in seconds, they were always smiling and couldn't be anymore of a help than they were. As well as this, the external boat trips leaving from the beach dock were great, as well as the option of various water activities to hire cheap. The pool looked great and is on the top floor, we never used it though as we was too drawn in by the beautiful beach and sea area.
The location of the hotel is great, apart from the coastal road there is nothing around, all you can hear is the sea and the crickets in the 'jungle' surrounding the hotel. Incredible. Benitses is only a $10 taxi up the road so easily accessible for a more lively setting and marina.
Overall this hotel and location made our holiday special, we would certainly be keen to revisit in the future.
We would also recommend hiring a boat for the day up the road in benitses, more affordable than you think and makes everywhere incredibly accessible.

I do not know how anyone can write anything bad about this hotel. It was a perfect relaxing holiday. Highly recommend sea view room we got to watch a beautiful sunrise every morning. We practically lived at the beach, yes it's stoney but get your sea shoes on and it's fine it's clear water and you can see all the fish swimming around you. The most comfiest beds we have ever had abroad. Plenty of choice with food every day. All staff friendly. Reception staff also really helpful and even giving me a bobbel as I had lost mine. Boat trips and activities from hotel and we did walk into benitses but you do have to be aware of traffic. We would definitely come back the most chilled out holiday ever with beautiful views. Cleaners came in to our rooms every day bins emptied beds made floors mopped. Hotel spotless. Water everyday in room which we've never had before. The best entertainment for us was the opera singers and got to watch them twice superb. Thankyou for a lovely holiday

Our stay at the Louis Ionian Sun Hotel was great! The rooms are not luxurious but have everything you need and you can have maid service every day if you choose which includes bottled water in the fridge and beds made. The pool is good but we preferred the private beach which offered sun beds, beach bar, snack bar and loos. Easy to get to by crossing the road or going through the tunnel beneath the road. The sea was clear and the fish so tame they swam around you which was amazing! Only drawback is there is it is a stony beach so hard to walk on but we bought beach shoes from the hotel shop which were a game changer!
The food was the best! So much choice and everything was delicious, I couldn’t wait for the next meal.
We were there during the heat wave and temperatures were over 40 degrees but the air con was good and we slept very well.
Only downside was that the hotel is by itself, the main road goes past so it is easy to get a bus to other places which is cheap and regular but there is not really anywhere to go for a walk in the evenings as the path beside the road is non existent and the beach does not extend along the coast.
Apart from that it is a great hotel and really lovely staff.

We booked this hotel for our holiday, based on distance from the airport (travelling with a child who has already sat on a plane for 4h) and reviews that mentioned cleanliness and how good the food was, and were not let down.
Our room was a family room with a double bed and bunk beds, with mountain view rather than sea view, after reading that the road runs along the seafront. I'm glad we made this decision, as that side of the hotel was very quiet and the view from the balcony was good. Apart from beds being quite hard, the room was perfect for a week.
Food was great, with lots to choose from every day. The only disappointing meal we had was on arrival from a late flight: quite dry sandwiches were waiting in the room fridge for us (but the power was off until the key was in the room, so they were a bit warm). We're grateful something was planned for us, but would recommend having snacks in your bags if you're on a late flight!
The hotel was super clean. If you put your do not disturb sign on, they'll call at the end of the day to check if you need any more water or clean towels, which we thought was great attention to guests. Cleaning staff were also very friendly whenever we bumped into somebody in the corridors.
We spent most of our holiday at the kids' pool, which was a surprisingly quiet and relaxing place (whereas activities at the adult pool meant loud music sometimes playing there). There are two slides only to be used by kids, which is signposted clearly, and plenty of sunbeds available, as well as a bar.
Every night, we attended the mini disco for kids, where our child had a great time (of course we had to get involved too... we almost mastered that last dance by the end of the week!). We didn't see a lot of the evening entertainment after that, which was past our bed time, but the fire show was great, and other activities sounded good too.
There's a pebble beach across the road, which can be accessed through an underground tunnel if you don't want to cross the road. The water is really clear. Again, lots of sunbeds are available, as well as a bar/taverna.
There is also a small shop in the hotel, for souvenirs and essentials. It's quite expensive but good to have if you run out of suncream or need washing powder or pool accessories.
Hotel staff were all really nice, and could communicate in many different languages, not just English. George, the lifeguard at the kids pool, was lovely and always waved hello and goodbye to our son. In the restaurant, Maria in particular was super friendly, as was Spiros. And of course, with the mini disco being a highlight of our son's holiday, thank you to Sara and Mapi for putting up great entertainment for families and kids.
We had a great time in Corfu, without leaving the hotel (I know, that's sad!), but that just shows how good it was. We would definitely recommend staying there.

This was our first visit to Corfu and we chose this hotel on price and location, no knowing what to expect. The food is amazing, changing each evening.

Beach is safe and snorkeling is excellent! Crystal clear water, still as a mill pond.

The entertainment team are brilliant, karaoke night was the highlight of my week. Illios was keen for everyone to be involved, such a great vibe.

The staff are so friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

You can choose to stay at the beach and enjoy the bar and food, then head back under the road to the hotel in the evening.

The pools and kids area towards to top end of the resort are safe, clean and covered by a dedicated life guard. Excellent for families.

The array of food in the main restaurant is first class. Each evening is themed, but there are also regular items (for the fussy eaters), the Greek food, especially fish, was divine. I recommend the kebab at lunch by the beach, I don't think anything comes close in the UK.

The other guests were also lovely, we met people from our own town and from other parts of the UK.

The rooms are bright, airy and all have an excellent view, so you do not necessarily have to pay for a sea view!

We will be returning same time next year! Thank you!

Lovely! Quiet & very scenic-mosquitoes could potentially be an issue in high season as lots of greenery but certainly weren’t when we went at the end of May/beginning of June.

If you struggle with too many stairs, I wouldn’t advise this hotel. The top pool is up a lot of stairs and sometimes you have to wait an age for the lift, so we ended up taking the stairs. That said, it is a fantastic hotel and we had the best holiday!
