d'Omah hotel is located in the village of Tembi and only twenty minute drive from the center of bustling Yogyakarta, the cultural center of Java.d’Omah in the Javanese language means “at home “it offers a unique holiday experience within this small Javanese village untouched by the outside world. Enjoy breakfast overlooking the rice fields and watch as village life passes by, basko carts and wrinkle-faced old rice farmers totally unperturbed by the events of the hotel. Our rooms are situated within three one hundred year old artistically restored Joglo’s. Each room is individually furnished to reflect the beauty and history of its particular Joglo. Woven together by koi ponds and naturally spring fed swimming pools is a hotel filled with charm and character.

Love the ambience, first impression by the recepsionists was heart-warming. While our room was being made ready, we had an awesome dinner at the restaurant, food was excellently prepared. Waitress and hotel staffs never missed a smile to greet us anywhere within the establishment.

We stayed at a room named Khrisna, large windows on two sides facing our private terrace, swimming pool area and garden.

Landscape was very well maintain. I absorbed ancient positive energy during our stay. It was rejuvenating.

However, hotel management might want to consider having a 24-hour kitchen to accomodate room service order. We did went out of the hotel after midnight to get a late meal. Otherwise, I recommend D’omah Yogyakarta for retreat from daily city routines.

The resort truly feels like a village. So peaceful and serene that I could just sit at any parts of the property and feel calm. The service was excellent, esp to the staff at Lotus Cafe who catered to my every request.

Reason for rating 4 stars and not 5 is because the toilets/bathrooms need upgrading/refurbishing. We stayed at the 3 bedroom villa with private pool, and the toilets and bathrooms in those villas were old and flimsy. Take a quick shower as the hot water is not a steady stream and goes hot and cold.

This place is an awesome place to relax and spend time for yourself. The staff (everyone) is very courteous. Their smiling faces and ready to help you anytime goes beyond appreciation.

Food, Hygiene are top class.

If you plan to spend your vacation / time-off not within boxed luxurious places, this place is the recommended one.

As a family we would love to visit anytime we are in Jogyakarta.

Beautiful place, beautiful staff, beautiful food and heavenly mosey through the rice paddies at dawn. Deep culture at every turn, along with tiny frogs, enormous roosters and the backbeat of peaceful sweeping in the mornings. Do it.

I really wanted to like this hotel. It is clean and beautiful. The restaurant was good and the beds were comfortable. The staff were excellent. They were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We booked tours to the temples and to town all through the hotel and the service was great. They even helped get our family of 6 to Semarang.

However, there were a few drawbacks that will keep me from returning. First, is the location. It's just too far from Yogyakarta. They say it's 15-20 minutes. That is if there is absolutely no traffic and you hit all the lights. There isn't much around the hotel that makes it worth staying nearby and so you tend to feel a little trapped. Next, we did not have enough hot water and the water pressure in the shower was terrible. We also had the power go out on us regularly. But the worst part is the noise. The hotel is located between 2 mosques. Morning prayer starts at 4 am. It's in stereo and the ear plugs they give you are no defense. But the call to prayer is manageable. It doesn't last long and you could go back to sleep. You could go back to sleep if it were not for all the freaking roosters, chickens, turkeys and other unknown fowl that were, I swear, right outside my door. We didn't get a good night sleep for 3 days.

I agree with the gushing last couple of reviews. This place made my stay in Indonesia so wonderful. AND the entire resort is superb value. The people are friendly; the décor is Indonesian stylish. This is the perfect place from which to explore the beautiful area of Yogyakarta. We used it as a weekend get away from Singapore. It is especially great as a getaway because you can let them take care of everything (transfers, food, excursions) and the price is still reasonable. I agree with the last couple of reviews that the facilities and grounds are gorgeous. We splurged and got the 2 suite villa with the private pool and it was worth it! I love this resort and gave it five stars but there are some things you want to know before coming: the resort is in a village which means there are roosters in the a.m. and calls to prayer several times a day. The resort is 20-30 minutes outside of town. It’s quite reasonable getting in to town (especially with Grab) and there’s not much of a downtown that you might want to visit. The food at the resort is excellent, local, and reasonably priced so you don’t much feel like driving into town. We ate at the resort twice and only went into town once for dinner. Town was fun, especially as an evening adventure on the middle night of our stay, but we just went to the restaurant and then back home. We didn’t do exhaustive research but it seems like the restaurant on premises was as nice as many in town (there may be exceptions) so we didn’t feel leaving the resort.

I have stayed here several times, with family and friends. but I just have a chance to write a review now. this nice little boutique hotel is a very pleasant place to spend the weekend. I would suggest at least half a day to just stay in your room enjoying the peace and smell the aroma of typical of rural Javanese villages.

This boutique hotel has four houses, which each have a very impressive work from the hotel owner, Warwick Purser, you can google him. every house has several rooms that are completed with open bathrooms with a very spacious wardobe closets and a wee private garden. All amenities were extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. If you want to have peace and quiet whilst at your hotel this is the place to be. “Rumah Camat” most of the time became my favorite place to stay.

Every house has a private pool, but of all existing home, I chose the pool at the "Rumah Camat" as my favorite, because I really feel a privacy and not bypassed by other guests. The pool that just outside our blue room was a lovely area, We never saw anyone else in it, only my family and one family from yorkshire who use this pool, definately it was almost an area we enjoyed on our own = ). At “Rumah Camat” besides having a beautiful open large main lounge, We also had our own gazebo sitting area to enjoy the view of lotus pond.

In the morning, we could have a breakfast at the restaurant in “Rumah Joglo”, Main Building or brought to our room. I chose the last one and it was a very appropriate decision. During our breakfast, we were visited by peacocks and angora cat, very suprising but fun, our children happy playing with them.

as I have mentioned above. we could leave at least half a day from our weekend just to enjoy the facilities at this boutique hotel. cycling in the morning around the village, craft center and batik center. Or sit idly on the terrace enjoying the morning dew, yoga, spa. At night we could spend the rest of the night to enjoy the bright moon, smell the javanese soil that still natural, or even read the books provided in the main room (they have a collection of books and magazines are pretty much) or watch a dvd in our room (their dvd collection quite complete, at least to spend the night)

the food was okay, not special, especially for the breakfast, still need to be improved. Personally I don’t like black soup, called Rawon, but my friends love their Rawon.

The free WIFI in the lobby was great, but not in the room, sometimes their connection was awful. This almost happened in every hotel in Indonesia. I think the owner of the hotel should be more willing to invest in Internet and communication services for guests. I know there are some local internet providers are already providing super-fast Internet service to remote areas, and of course every hotel dare to provide more routers and repeaters for more. why do I underline this? because of our level of dependency on the internet to use in communication and business activities. I am very happy even in the middle of the village and the beauty of the sound a frog in the middle of the night, I can still monitor stock market out there, or book my flight for my next trip.

Last but not least, their lovely staff here were extremely helpful, you can really feel a sincerity of Javanese people. I Definitely recommend this hotel and I always go back here again.

This beautiful hotel in antique Javanese style filled with antiques and contempory art for sure is one of the not yet explored treasures of Yogyakarta. Dream away in the past days and enjoy SERVICE with capital characters. Beautiful Joglo houses (each with a private pool) in a garden of Eden with tropical trees and flowers. In the gardens a nice gym parlour and a Spa, where they give relaxing treatments and even yoga practise. Before trying the restaurant that is overlooking the always green sawa's, try the small bar in the lobby. Ofcourse the food is Javanese. Simple but well prepared. (very reasonable prices).

The staff is most charming and helpful. They are there for you and provide you with what ever you want or need.

Tembi (only 15 minutes by taxi from the citty centre of Yogyakarta) is a small original farmers village. Its inhabitants are extremely friendly and will greet you every time they see you. A great place as a basis for your trips to Borobudur, Prabanan and Yogyakarta itself.

If you are looking for a villa style accomodation amidst a rustic village setting, there can be no better place. D'omah prides itself in giving a very authentic experience and it lives up to it. True to its name it feels like home.. that is if home meant huge bedrooms with your own pool , seating terrace and open air bathrooms.. dream home more like it. The service is impeccable though you would need to walk out ( no phones in rooms) to call for service. If, like me you want to experience living in a village like atmosphere and can withstand the morning village prayer call, occasional blackout ( you should wish this happens cos they use candles to light up the place and it makes it ever more romantic) and nature sounds around you.. this is heaven.Don't expect 5 star setting( they are very frank to let you know and are not apologetic for it) but this is joglo style living at its best. What more can you ask for..you are surrounded by gorgeous art works, fabulous furnishings and a very cosy private atmosphere. You can get lost here... now isn't that a good thing on a holiday! Thank you Ibnu , Agung. and Pak Sukir. see you in a month's time.:)

The hotel can arrange a taxi for you, although we found a full day taxi booking very reasonable. The hotel food is great but other than that there are no other good eateries nearby within 15 minutes walking distance atleast.
