We didn't know what to expect when we arrived, after reviewing the website we were expecting a lively campground full of side by sides and other adventurist. It was much quieter then expected. When arriving our group was moved to the back of the campground by the sheep and farm equipment and we couldn't of been more happy about it! It was our own little slice of heaven back there! We had power, water plenty of room for us even to set up a volleyball net.

We appreciate the owners thinking about the fact we had littles camping with us and they had turned off the electric fence before we even asked about it. We felt safe letting our little ride bikes around the campground as there was very little traffic in and out.

My only recommendation is to ask for a site in the back away from the road because of the amount of dust coming from the road, which the owners of this campground have no control over. The shower room was okay, it could use some TCL a real good scrubbing would go a long way, but it was really nice to have the option of showering on site! Trash cans were always empty and ready for campers use.

We made a couple day trips to the beach in IR (10 min drive), rope swing in town, the park and depot for ice cream. The campground was perfectly located between Cheboygan, Mackinaw, Petoskey and Gaylord.

We loved the fact that there was water options there but they were far enough away we didnt have to worry about a little getting away and getting into the water. Again all in all this really was a great experience and middle ground campground between rustic and upscale state style. We will for sure be back!

I stayed here to go hunting. They had nice little cabins at a fair price. Bathrooms we're clean and showers were hot. Owners were very friendly and made great hosts. Campground looked nice . Roads were a bit rough but they were working on this while I was there. Right on the Sturgeon river and close to trails

I was so excited to find that this campground was still in business. My family and I had stayed here more than 25 to 30 yrs ago when it was called The Circle S Family Campground. The trees all were just saplings and about 2 ins. in diameter. and 6 to 8 ft tall. Now it has large full grown shade trees and large sites that most appear to be pull thru sites. A swimming and fishing pond, kids animal zoo, badminton and volleyball and horseshoe pits. Full showers, laundry facilities, cabins that can be rented and only about 25 mi south of Mackinaw and the Upper Peninsula. It is called the Wolverine Valley Campground exit 301 off of 75. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation to stay. Dirt road for 1 and a half miles to get to it but well worth the drive!!!

We visited to see if they might have a spot available next year. The office was empty, but the owners were around the corner working outside. Howard and Judy were the nicest people! They chatted with me for awhile and invited me to look around. We didn’t actually stay, but their hospitality made us want to! The Sturgeon River runs through the property, and there are lots of animals (all fenced in from what we saw). There is a swimming pond and it looks like lots of land. The pavilion appears to be newer. Judy said they are planning a cookout/bbq. The campground is small and may not offer all of the ammenities of other campgrounds. But, it seems to be exactly what we are looking for. And, judging by the impression of the owners, I am very much looking forward to giving them our business. We prefer to support small business where the owners treat you as though they value your business. I have no doubt Howard and Judy treat every camper this way! It seems like a place where campers can feel like family.

We researched Sturgeon Valley Campground online and selected it based on distance we wanted to travel for the day. After traveling a long distance in rain, we pulled off the Interstate into the town of Wolverine. Heading south on black top, the road turns to wash board packed sand/gravel/dirt for about two miles before reaching Sturgeon Valley Campground. The online description read good gravel interior road...not so...in fact they were in worse condition than the county road getting to the campground. We went into the office to registered but no one was present. We went back out to see if we could find anyone and then re-entered the office. No one present. As we headed back to our camper in the driveway, a nice lady suddenly appeared to help us. We were assigned a double grassy campsite to park in so we could conveniently hookup the utilities. If you want lots of rabbits, goats, cows and other livestock plus a fishing pond, then this is the place for you. The campground is mowed but the buildings are not well maintained and the price is not a good value for the quality of the facility. The office looks like a tornado went through it...helter-skelter! Young kids would absolutely love the place because of e the animals. Any RVer knows that washboard road do not make for keeping the camper in good condition and if we had it to do all over, we would select another campground even if we had to drive a bit further..

Some people would complain if you hung them from the highest tree in the woods with a brand new rope ! We are a family oriented vacation location, this is a small mom and pop owned location, If you want to pay double the price for concierge service dont come here ! Please keep in mind that we are available 24 hours a day and although the office is scheduled for 9:00 AM to 9;00 PM, we are sometimes wakened by campers needing a site in the middle of the night. There is a doorbell at the office if there is no one there.

Campground is quite high priced, Not full hook up, We were there fir 4 days and not once did the community trash cans get dumped and were overflowing, the bathroom trash was overflowing by the second day. They have chickens and Rabbits free ranging pecking and chewing on everything....Deffintely not worth the price.

It is a shame that someone would lie to do damage to a business for spite. Is $33.00 "quite high priced" ? Is water and electric, and a dump station, with honeywagon service also not "full hookup" ? Trash Cans not dumped ? These people were here on the busiest weekend of our year. The trash cans were not full until Saturday night , and were dumped Sunday morning, and again Sunday afternoon. Anyone should know that the biggest trash day at a campground is the day that most people pack up to go home ! (Saturday night and Sunday !) B.S. Reviews !
