An amazing 4 days at Dymond Lake Lodge which we will never forget. Our most magical moment was a polar bear walking across Dymond lake while we were standing on the dock. The whole team at Churchill Wild are fantastic and can’t do enough for you to ensure the perfect stay. The knowledgeable and fun guides Terry, Mike and Mark always had our safety as top priority whilst also respecting the polar bears. Their evening talks were informative as well as a great way to wind down after a days adventure. Staff at the lodge worked tirelessly for our every need and went out of their way to cater for my personal food allergies. We would recommend hiring the Arctic gear as it was top quality and ensured we remained warm and comfortable whilst out on the ice. Overall a phenomenal experience thanks to everyone at Churchill Wild.

We spent time here thru Churchill Wild since that is the only way to stay at the lodge so it is also a review of Churchill Wild tours. The lodge was comfortable especially for such a remote location. Also stayed in Churchill and Winnipeg. The lodge experience was great especially the lodge staff, non-guides. The lodge staff was extremely attentive and truly made everyone individually feel special. The guides were good, Mike was outstanding and Boomer was knowledgeable and stepped up as needed. The experience in Churchill was awesome, especially riding in the Rover where bears came up to it, truly unique! The only disappointment was at the end of our trip. Upon returning to Winnipeg we were supposed to receive a voucher for dinner since our arrival was late but instead we had to have a "buffet", no options; and then we had to pay for our drinks, first time during the trip! Overall not a huge deal but unfortunately was the "last" experience to remember, especially at the prices charged by Churchill Wild. So 4 stars overall!

We have returned home after our adventure at Diamond Lake echo Lodge which we remember as great and unbelievable experience. Our dreams of seeing polar bears in their natural habitat snow owl , wolf and the northern lights was amazing. Our guides Terry Norm and Luke were amazing and very supportive times when we encountered polar bears and extremely close on a couple of occasions we all felt very safe and confident in their management of the situation. The accommodation food and location of the lodge was excellent and the information provided by the guides was extremely informative. Terry‘s quiz was very humorous exercise the day venturing out in the tundra with our driver guide was amazing. We saw polar bears wrestling with each other next to the buggy having a sleep and walking together. Sincere thank you to all at Churchill wild for our tremendous holiday and one that we would highly recommend.

Walking the tundra with 3 excellent guides in search of with polar bears (and other wildlife) was an absolutely magical experience. It was great to have high-quality specialist clothing (to keep warm in a snowstorm with temperatures down to -18 degrees) and then to return to a comfortable lodge for excellent food and informative evening presentations. We can't praise Churchill Wild highly enough for smooth logistics, excellent staff (special thanks to Jen!), and taking care of all our needs. The icing on the cake was the tundra buggy trip (provided by Frontiers North) on the final day, when we saw 16 bears, including family groups. Highly recommended!

Unique walking experience with the Polar Bears. Standing within 60 feet observing their habitat and behavior. We had 3 guides for our group of 15 with each guide highly experienced in the artic flora and fauna. These guides are highly trained and provide an expereince not comparable to riding in a vehicle,
The accomodations and food presentation is of the highest quality especially when you realize you are in wht wilderness only connected by airplane travel. The Chuchill Wild staff endeavored to make you feel welcome and to give you the best experience available. Even when we left the lodge and had transportation issues on our way home, the staff contacted us to offer assistance.

This is a very special, remote place that provided one of the best travel experiences of my life. Situated 30 km north of Churchill, it is the perfect place to view and walk safely amongst polar bears and other interesting wildlife .. and stand on Hudson Bay.
My room was cozy and warm, food was abundant and exceptional and the guides were top notch. There is a peaceful feeling being here that is hard to get anywhere else in this busy world.
Folklore says that once you look into the eye of a polar bear you will never be the same. Thank you, Churchill Wild. I am forever changed.

I travelled to Dymond Lake Lodge, operated by Churchill Wild, with a group of travellers in November 2022. Every part of this trip is an adventure, from arriving in Churchill airport and seeing the airport sign about being in polar bear country, to the ride on the tiny plane to the lodge, to the daily walks to look for bears, to the view out the window watching foxes and ptarmigan, to the northern lights lighting up the night sky. Nothing prepared me for the vastness of Hudson’s Bay and the tundra or the beauty of the sunsets. Nothing prepared me for the thrill of seeing my first polar bear right in front of me, with no zoo bars between us. Many thanks to our three wonderful guides who were polar bear spotting aces. Many thanks to all of the lodge staff, the staff in Churchill and the organizers of these wonderful trips – every aspect of the trip was first class and that is something considering the remoteness of where we were. Everyone we met as part of trip were exemplary in their customer service. I would also like to thank my fellow travellers for being such outstanding lodge companions. You always meet such interesting people when you travel to places like this. So, if you have the spirit of adventure in your soul, I can’t recommend this trip highly enough.

The staff at Dymond Lake Ecolodge did an outstanding job. Food, accommodations, and overall service were excellent. Churchill Wild also did outstanding work with transfers, off site meals, and issuance of warm gear. Guides were very knowledgeable, fun, and safe. Saw close to 20 bears, ptarmigan and a wolf from our lodge excursions. Saw another dozen or more bears from the Tundra Buggy in Churchill. On one clear night saw the northern lights from the lodge yard. Highly recommend this trip for anyone adventurous.

We were on the "Great ice bear tour" from 7-13 Nov 2011, accommodated in "Dymond Lake Lodge". It was an absolutely awesome experience. We chose this tour operator because we liked the hiking aspect of the trip. The trip includes 1 tundra buggy day where you do see a lot of polar bears from the vehicle. But "walking with polar bears" brings your "arctic safari" adventure to a whole new level.
Before going on this trip I thought it would be really difficult to see polar bears and if one would be spotted it would run away immediately. But it seems polar bears are not afraid of people and are very curious. We had polar bears posing for us in all kinds of situations. We brought a big lens but the bears were so close we could easily have taken many pictures with our mobile phone and they still would have been awesome. The big advantage of the lodge is that the polar bears (and many other animals) come really close and even if you are not very much into hiking you can still see them right from the comfort of the lodge.
The guides were very social and funny and at the same time excellent, professional trackers who managed to find us a polar bear on almost all our hikes. I always felt very safe having them around.
The staff in general is very warm, caring and friendly and they all go the extra mile for you.
One night they woke us up because the aurora borealis was showing. It was in the middle of the night and all of us would have slept right through it if one of the staff wouldn't have been "on guard". That was really the "cherry on the pie". Even though it was the middle of the night and the guides have probably seen the aurora borealis a million times they accompanied us, gave explanation and helped us take pictures of this magnificent display.
The lodge itself is basic, warm and clean. Everyone has its own bathroom. It is quite a luxury for being so far out in the wild. The location is excellent. The food is very nice, expecially the home-made pies were mouth-watering.
Also the administrative staff in charge of answering our 200000 questions before the trip was awesome. She was extremely helpful and her replies came almost immediately. We never had to wait very long.
Transport to and from the lodge is with a small airplane and really is an adventure on its own. Beautiful scenery!
If you like the arctic and have some money saved to do "the trip of your life" this is the one trip you should do. It is expensive but definetely worth every euro/dollar.

Thank you for reaching out with your question. While we can never guarantee wildlife sightings, late October is an excellent time to see polar bears.
It's unpredictable how many bears you will see, as most prefer to be on their own. However, you might witness polar bears sparring or catch sight of a mother with her cubs. Our experienced guides know the best spots for sightings and will do everything possible to ensure you have an unforgettable experience.
If you have any other questions or need more information, please feel free to ask.
Thank you,
The Churchill Wild Team
We booked through churcill wild. They are the company that own the lodge. I can honestly say it was great trip. Its very very remote but the staff are excellent and the quailty of the accomadation is very good when consider how remote. It is a trip that is hard work but well worth it.
