This place went downhill! The first room we got wreaked of cat litter smell. Went right back to front desk and asked for another room. The 2nd room stunk of mildew. The area is not the greatest. They do have Starbucks on site though.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on your stay. I apologize that you had issues with room odor. We pride ourselves on our room cleanliness and staff service, and we clearly fell short for your stay. I do hope we can better serve you the next time your travels bring you back to the area!

This place has really gone downhill. The front desk staff is disengaged and rude. This has been my go to in the area because if its location but will not be back for many reasons. On a previous trip, they gave me a room and there were blood stains all over the fitted sheets when I lifted up the coverings. I didn’t make a big deal about it after switching rooms. The place is not maintained with Marriott standards. FYI I am a Lifetime Platinum Elite member.

Courtyard is usually a predictable and above average brand by Marriott. However, this property is well below average. First it's not in a great area. Second, the building itself is run down on the inside - the front desk told me they were supposed to get a refurbishment in 2020 but still don't have one planned, it's well overdue. What made it really bad was the walls were paper thin and I could hear the conversation next to me, and every door opening and closing - like an old motel. The bed was completely worn out, sinking far low with poor pillows. I asked to check out early given the condition and bad sleep experience and at least was allowed to do that. Marriott needs to refurbish this hotel completely..

Response from Scott Ternus, General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Warren
Responded Apr 8, 2022
Thank you for taking the time to give your review of your stay. I can ensure you our property is located in a safe area, as there has been no major crime in our area in some time. Plus the police department is located only a mile from the hotel. There are plans in the works for a renovation in the near future, and I apologize that you could hear the guests in the room next door. We definitely could have moved you to a different room, or contacted the guests being too loud if we were made aware of the situation. I hope you give us a chance to better serve you the next time your travels bring you back to the area.

Breakfast will close the time they say sharp, thougbt they will only have one person working the counter that continuously steps away. They told me i was going to be charged $350.00 but then they charged me $484 with only an extra $60 coming from breakfast. No garbage bags, not even for the garbage cans in the room. Barely offers anything for tv. Sofa bed didnt have blanket and pillow. Would not recommend.

The front desk staff was very friendly and personable. Toyce and Latoya were so nice to my family and me as we were in town for a small gathering to celebrate my cousin’s 100th birthday. They were very accommodating to place our rooms together and also provided information for a ride to the airport for a family member. When I checked out of the hotel, an unexpected snowfall happened. I had to drive to the airport and return my rental car. I was informed that the expressway was shut down due to the snowstorm and low visibility so I asked for suggestions on how to get to the airport. Ann told me she was about to end her shift and that I could follow her as she was going in the general direction towards the airport and I could turn off when I needed to do so. Ann was an angel sent by God! The snow as so bad it took me 3 hours to get safely to the airport. I followed Ann for at least 1 and 1/2 hours. She slowed down when she could so I could catch up with her. So many cars were sliding in the snow and we drove by several accidents. It was nerve wracking but I finally made it to the airport. Ann did not have to offer to lead me, but she did and I am so thankful and grateful for her going WAY above and beyond the call of duty!

DO NOT STAY HERE—-Let’s start off from the top. Friday I used the Marriott application on my iPhone and requested a early checkin, I also requested extra towels in my room and I also requested my room be cleaned everyday because I know they only do that by request. The Marriott application notified me that my early check in was granted and that they would have extra towels for me. At check in I got to the property at around 1130am I spoke to a lady at the counter without checking anything in the computer she said checkin is not til 3pm. I was like I understand but I talked to someone on the application and they said it was ok. She walked and the back to verify and another lady came out and said she would help me, the rest of the check in went smooth. When I got to my room, no extra towels as requested, check the bathroom the toilet in the bathroom sucks, it made for a 4 year old it’s pretty much sitting in the ground. When I woke up the next day I requested towels again and house keeping again, I returned Saturday night no towels no cleaning. Sunday morning this is when I was just fed up, I called at 1030am requested a cleaning and more towels, also the toilet was not flushing properly asst manager lee I believe her name was said she will notify maintenance and get house keeping up to me. 1 hour went by we called again she said she would check on my request. Now by 1230 I was already running late to go meet family, I walked down to the lobby to see a manager. I met with the asst manager lee again she said she will call maintenance to see where they are, housekeeping lady was sitting in lobby, she asked me what did I need. I told her I requested towels for two days, she said stay here I will go and get them for you. House keeping came back with towels so I went back up to my room to meet maintenance, they finally came up and fixed the problem. As I am leaving my room house keeping was next door, I asked her if she was cleaning my room next, she said no I am not on the list. I told her I requested cleaning for two days now, she said it was not her problem and to call the office. I got into my vehicle called the hotel and spoke to asst manager lee, she made up some story that I was on the list and it’s a different housekeeper and she will aside my room gets cleaned. She said they are short staff and doing the best they can. So we went out Sunday all day return to my room around 930pm and guess what THE ROOM WAS NEVER CLEANED. I have been staying at Marriotts for a long time and I have never received this much horrible service in my life..I will be reaching out to executives as soon as I land on Monday this was the worst stay of my life. I will be deputing all charges for my stay. DO NOT STAY HERE

Stayed here while in the area for work. Staff was friendly and the location was convenient. Best thing about the property was the lack of noise. Felt bad for the young lady doing the check in. She was having a little trouble with her voice and was made to wear a mask. It was very hard to hear what she was saying.

Better communication is needed so all entities can be on the same page. Will I stay there again NOPE, thank Leah Winterhalter (Manger) nonchalant attitude for that...She didn’t resolve anything called corporate and they complied and understood like they cared unlike Leah... Thumbs all the way down..I knew it wasn’t a good look when the police are on the property when I pulled up to check in.... First and last time and this location.. I’m good... No one in the room next to me ALARM blaring at 5am in the morning. Young kids all over the property and be heard from the rooms, loud in the hallway yeah no good for me someone who’s a business person. No quiet nothing...Young kids all outside in the parking lot LOUD.. Maybe they need another Manager to control all the non sense that is going on after hours.......1st bad experience being a COVID responder I would never stay at this one again...

Renovated rooms and lobby make this hotel a perfect fit. Close to restaurants and stores and right off 696. Safe. Centrally located. Bistro is magnificent. Gym is just right. Justin the GM is absolutely terrific and will take care of all your needs!

The hotel itself was extremely well cared for, very quiet, and smelled like brand new. The staff, especially Tiffany, went out of their way to make sure the stay was perfect. Perfect distance from downtown Detroit to get out of the busy city. Highly recommend this hotel!
